We'll have to fight versus thatentrenchedcementedfossilized mindset. And have the problem that we are the most threatening thing that happened in the last few hundred thousand years (if you take into account that we serve as an example for other races, too).
The real problem here is - the Gynasian's are at the start of the downward loop; we are at the end. The SL had two million years to get used to tribute fleets and casual genocide, cushioned by 'better to kill of this race than risk the end of the universe'. And, well, the universe hasn't ended yet so the SL's policy was successful, right?

Given what you know now, the Adamant's intelligence teams have uprated humanity's threat profile significantly. Immensely accelerated development, access to some sort of soul manipulation technology that doesn't seem to rely on the Second Secret that is absurdly powerful - this is assumed to have been recognised after the Third Battle of Sol - but it's not just the personal power that's the problem. Humanity likes to make friends, and you're good at it. Combine that with the fact that you've developed functional War Fleet countermeasures and the reason that the Shiplords called you an Enemy with such unhappy certainty becomes clear.
Do note, the last people who the Shiplords called an Enemy were the Sphere. From their perspective, humanity is actually more dangerous. The Shiplords won their war against the Sphere because they had help from the younger races. Whilst it's true that humanity are not even close to the industrial powerhouse that the Sphere were at the start of the war, Practice is one hell of a force multiplier and it's one that can apply across all fields. Including the field of "I give this hypertech War Fleet countermeasure to my allies".

It's even worse. Remember, one of the biggest fears of the Uninvolved and why they stayed Uninvolved is that if they died, everything that made up who they were is gone. Including the species that became them. The Uninvolved decided and be at least helpful after all we'd achieved. Then we offered to create something to help them get over that very specific crippling fear.
What do you think the Shiplords' reaction to learning about that is going to be?

I actually really like this. Because it doesn't risk endangering our cover too much more. It's also tells the truth of why we are doing what we are doing. We think differently enough to the bulk of the Shiplords that we do not want them to continue the path they are travelling. How we act and what we ask will reveal that we are trying to respect... Who the Shiplords were, rather than what they are now if you will? As for our haste, discomfort and possible desperation getting revealed...
Well, I think anyone amongst the Shiplords who are in touch with things are seeing the signs that indicate a Sixth Sorrow may very well be on it's way at the very least. If not worse than that. Would not someone who is trying to unearth the truth of the Sorrows and the Shiplords whilst turning the Shiplords away from the Path of the Monster not be feeling time racing past? Because for all they know, what is coming may just be the final step needed to take the Shiplords past the threshold of the Monster, never to cross back over.

I fear that the age of Sorrows is long in the past. I doubt there would be a memorial to their mistakes here if the war with the Sol system were to take an even uglier turn. The fear we're striking in the Shiplords is likely only going to make them feel like they have to be harsher and stricter next time they find a promising young species growing too fast. They aren't going to introspect about it. They've squashed too many races to feel that bad about it anymore.
If there is to be a Sixth Sorrow, it would have to be the result of what modern Shiplord ideology considers a failure.
We can go shopping for Sixth Sorrow sites if we manage to get Amanda and friends to visit the Authority and open a dialogue without three quarters of the galaxy detonating. One or more of their central government buildings would probably make for a nice museum, even if it's going to be veeeery awkward posting the timeline between the Sorrow (deciding on the genocide plan) and acknowledging it (hopefully coming soon, alongside major policy changes).

I won't be sad if Yes wins, but I've been convinced that Partially is the better answer because Entara is laying their hopes on Shiplords being better again, not some other species infiltrating Shiplord society and doing better in their place. There is also the consequences of failure to consider: If Entara is in on our infiltration then the Gysians will face the possibility of being purged by the Shiplords from their society for their actions.
Gambling the life of a single Shiplord to get us an edge is one thing, gambling the existence of an entire species at best deteriorating and at worst being extinguished is a whole other order of a gamble.

I finely caught up to this story and I have to say this is one of the best original quests I've ever read.
