Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Oh no, if we leave now we have literally wasted a night.

We should be racing to get the evidence, but if we decided to guard Harry's home instead, we will at least do that properly.

[X] Continue with the plan, this is more important than your mother throwing a hissy fit
And take the opportunity to recover Essence, have Clippy work her magic, and possibly, maybe, meet Bob.

BTW, @DragonParadox, does Clippy's phone require charging or is it now self-powered?

Yeah no, we've been very accommodating to Charity since becoming an Exalt, more than we were before, it's time to remind our mom that we have agency beyond doing what she says, especially when there's good deeds to be doing.

I really don't like how controlling Charity sounds right now.

Don't get caught in sunk costs; Harry's place is plenty well protected, and probably already has some cops watching it anyway.

This isn't worth a fight with Charity just after we got over the last one. Especially since there are other options to work with here.

We can buy a burner phone somewhere, put a demon in it, and leave it at Harry's apartment to warn us if an assault starts. Unless they immediately beat his defenses (and Mouse) we can probably make it there before they get in, or at least before they get away.

You can't take the nevernever out of Harry's apartment, because his fairy godmother is maintaining defenses for him with a weird garden that's also a fort. Which means right now Mab is responsible for keeping things from dropping in and out of the nevernever in his apartment.

So anything they do has to be physical and obvious.

[X] Go home, between you and dad you'll be able to wear her down in the morning (Requires a DC 7 Willpower roll, if failed will default to ignoring her)
-[X] Buy a cheap prepaid phone, put a demon in it, and ask Mouse to tell it to call you if anything pokes the wards

Not the room I expected Molly to get, but I'll take it.
I wanted to leave earlier anyway.

Guys, staying at Dresden's place isn't likely to have a major effect and it would be good to bank goodwill from our mother for a time down the line when we can defy her for a really good reason.

She cannot yell at you through Dresden's warded steel door, that is something Molly thinks of in the update.

Or to be more exact she can yell, but you would not hear her so she probably will not try
It will be hilarious if she shows up and Mouse chooses to let her inside. She's our mother. Mouse is a good dog, but he's not OUR dog. It's a mother who wants to be reunited with her child!

The only advantage to spending the night at Dresden's is that it makes it possible to have an unsupervised encounter with a specific skull that may be good or bad, but is absolutely something that would piss Dresden off if it happens.

There is no goodwill to be had.
Challenging her perceived authority will always be bad to Charity.

Gotta rip those band-aids off.
That's contrarian nonsense that just gives her legitimate ammunition in an argument about Molly's decision making ability.

If we want her to let up instead of clamp down we need to ignore her at places where we have good solid reasons that matter, and come up with reasonable compromises that demonstrate that we're listening and evaluating even when we disagree.

Our position here isn't that reasonable given what we know in character, and isn't really worth the setback in my opinion.

I understand all the reasons given before for committing to Charity, but I'm getting real and totally fed up with her attitude, whether her intentions are good or not.

However, I will commit for the time being for the sole and exclusive sake of Michael who does not deserve to be caught in the middle of a cold war between his wife and his daughter whom he must train by divine request. He's too good a man for me to subject him to it.

But for the record, when we turn 18 I'm going to vote on all the plans and insist that Molly make money (by whatever method) to buy a Dragon's Nest and build our house there ASAP, and against any plan we have to follow her rules unless it's the absolute best choice.

No more "she only wants the best for Molly", "it's easy, she was traumatized by magic", "she's an adult and knows better" etc and no more commitments only on our side!. I'm fed up with her and that we, even being Exalted, always lose to her in the rolls.

I will laugh darkly if we also fail the required roll if that option wins

Usum tells you via that occult roll you made to identify him that Mouse is on the side of the apartment all other things being equal so anyone who wants to guard it will be prioritized

Now for the real question:
Given Bob's usual choice of offerings, what will he ask for from Molly?
We could probably get his life story if we flashed him a bit of sideboob.

If we're willing to make him a hammock out of a pair of our panties, he might try to jump ship to Team Molly.

Being fair to her for a moment, neither Charity or Molly actually know how important the stuff in Harry's lab could be.

As far as she's concerned Molly just asked to stay in Harry's home without permission of the owner in hopes of fighting nazi sorcerers alone for the sake of saving Harry the trouble of buying new beakers for his lab.

Even if you accept the theory that this was all a plot to get him away from his defenses, given what they are aware of without our meta knowledge it's perfectly reasonable to think the goal is to go after him.

She's also almost completely unaware of what an exaltation actually is, and has only seen Molly fight once. Charity's estimation of how good Molly actually is is likely pretty low.

To be clear, I don't like how she handles things, but this isn't exactly a case of Charity being unreasonable because she's too stubborn to listen.

With only IC knowledge, the choice to guard some reagents and unknown actual valuables for a chance to beat up a few nazi sorcerers does sound a lot like a dumb teenager thing. I get why Charity is upset. Still going to vote for moving out asap once 18, though.
