Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

[X] Offer Rosie as much money as she might need to take care of her baby, you'll figure it out somehow

Minion get.

Also limitations are for not exalted people.

edit:
I am kicking myself for not having Verdant Emptiness endowment.

You cannot give magic stats, but you can give merits and since she is supernatural, if only barely as a minor talent you can grant supernatural merits, like say:

Danger Sense (3 pt. Merit)
A heightened state of awareness allows you to sense impending harm. This gift could originate from primal perceptiveness, intense conditioning, spirit voices that warn you of danger, nanotech sensors, or other methods of refined cognizance. Whatever the source of this Merit might be, your Storyteller must make a secret Perception + Alertness roll for you when some otherwise hidden threat is heading toward your character. The difficulty for this roll depends upon the immediacy of the danger; a distant, abstract sort of danger (like a plot to kill you) is far harder to sense than an onrushing disaster (like a sniper's bullet), and would thus have a higher difficulty (say, difficulty 10 for the plot, difficulty 6 for the bullet). A simple success would tell you that something's wrong, while a large number of successes could pinpoint the nature and location of the threat.
Your Storyteller, of course, is under no obligation to give you objective details about that threat. She could be as vague as "A chill tightens across your scalp," with perhaps a hint of the direction and nature of the danger's source ("A sudden metallic clicking sound echoes in from behind your right side. What do you do?")
.

Or for something more general

Lucky (3 pt. Merit)
Lady Fortune has a thing for you. As a result, you may re-roll a failed die roll (botches included) up to three times per story (not per session). Each do-over may be rerolled only once, so don't push your luck too far.

You could even go for something like the following, though keep in mind that any spirit summoned and bound by the magic of an infernal is unlikely to be a nice mentor

Spirit Mentor (3 pt. Merit)
A ghost, Loa, or other ephemeral entity has taken a special interest in you. As an expression of favor, this entity teaches you things few mortals ever have the opportunity to learn. Although those lessons do not include Sphere-based magick, you could learn insights that help you to expand your knowledge and better understand the nature of Reality. (See Raising or Learning Spheres in Mage 20, p. 337.) More often, though, this entity tells you secrets, offers you enigmas, and helps you work through situations that would leave
most mortals scratching their heads or crying in corners.
Your Spirit Mentor could also teach you new Abilities, or help you improve the ones you have, if such teaching seems appropriate to the spirit in question. A data-entity might be able to teach you about computers, while an incarnation of Zhengyi Zhenren's tiger could teach you tiger-form kung fu.
Such teaching tends to take place in the Otherworlds, or in dreams, rather than in the material realm, although a spirit who can Materialize (as the Charm of that name) could certainly teach a person in her own home realm.

In terms of wizards, like full ones you could at the very edge of what you can do grant something like this:

Sphere Natural (6 pt. Merit)
For a single element of magick – the Sphere of your choice –you enjoy an innate proficiency. The powers of that Sphere come to you more easily than usual, and you advance faster in that field of knowledge than you do in other Spheres. System-wise, you pay 70% of the usual experience cost, rounded up, when advancing in that Sphere. Naturally, such advancement costs even less when you're raising your Affinity Sphere.

This would for instance make Harry a natural at Mind or Spirit magic overnight, even at Life which is really rare for wizards in this world. Taking a wish from you would leave a mark in his magic under the Sight even if he does not take the three to make him a Creature of Darkness
Oh wow, we are like the One Ring.

To each we give power and mastery according to his own power and mastery.
A minor practicioner can get a useful trick, a real Wizard a major discount on learning seriousface magic.

[X] Say nothing, just arrange for her to find a winning lottery ticket in a few months.

This gives her a degree of separation from us and out supernatural bullshit, while giving her the means to look after herself and the kid.

Oh it gets even more One Ring-y if you really want to open the box of infernal goodies. You know how wizards age slowly... well

Unaging (2 pt. Merit)
The years seem to pass you by. Time moves on, but you remain essentially the same physical age as you were when this Merit stopped your aging process. Maybe you discovered the Fountain of Youth, upgraded yourself to perpetual stability, assumed an odd relationship with the time stream, or entered an uncanny bargain that preserved your current age. And so, although you continue to accumulate the scars, experience, and perspective of age, your body maintains a consistent state of chronological development. Note that this is not the same thing as immortality – injuries and sickness can kill you just as surely as they'll kill any other person. Age-based decrepitude, however, is not something you'll have to worry about.

Use it wisely:V

Could you give some of the more powerful Merits, like the one that gives someone a minor supernatural template? Or the really potent ones, like:

Immortal (7 points)
In addition to the slow-aging process, you're also immune to death itself unless you meet your special doom (as described below) or have your body completely obliterated. Shooting won't kill you, poison won't kill you, starvation won't kill you, but being incinerated or dissolved in acid would end your life for good. Otherwise, your wounds heal at the usual rate, eventually bringing you back from the dead… which, if you've been buried, embalmed, entombed, or otherwise trapped could be a very bad thing for you! Regardless of the level of this Merit, you must have at least one special doom: an event that will kill your ass dead for good. This doom could involve decapitation, burning of your body, immersion in salt water, removal of the eternal revivification unit installed within your heart, and so forth. This doom must be determined before the chronicle begins, and if it ever befalls you… well, life was fun while it lasted, right?

or even more

Nephilim /Laham (7 pt. Merit)
Long ago, it has been said, immortals walked the earth, siring offspring whose descendants still live among us now. The Hebrew Bible refers to them as nephilim, an ambiguous word that seems to be related to root words for "fallen," "prisoners," and "overseers." Later transliterations refer to them as giants, monsters, watchers, and the fallen (or violent) ones. Were they gods? Angels? Demons? Not even the Awakened know for sure; you, however, have a bit of High Umbral essence within you, and this nephilim inheritance – known sometimes by the demon-blooded name of laham – marks you as something more than merely human (Awakened or otherwise). A living crossroads between the Astral Realm and the mortal world, you exist in a heightened state of spiritual essence. Your aura burns with unearthly intensity, and your presence frightens many Otherworldly denizens. Your connection to High Umbral entities might involve a distant relationship to primordial sires, or the far more recent activities of mortals and spirits who shared a distinctly carnal relationship. ("Mom, seriously – I need to know the truth about Dad") Are you part-demon? Descended from an angel? Sired by an entity whose nature transcends mortal concepts like "good" and "evil"? You probably don't even know, although events in your chronicle might reveal the truth whether you want to learn it or not.

Which gives:

An aura that blazes with inhuman power
Three points of physical flaws
A quintessence rating of seven that auto-refreshes every time you sleep (this is amazingly good)
Three points of resonance
-1 difficulty with Mind and Spirit effects relating to the High Umbra
Able to travel physically to the High Umbra much more easily
Add two dice to bargaining with High Umbral entities
+2 difficulty to resisting spells from magical traditions that know a lot about angels or demons
Optional seven points in advantages for nephilim or infernal investments for laham in return for five points of derangements

How far along is Rosie's pregnancy right now?

I don't think now is the time to be making this sort of promise, even if we fully intend to help her. It's too soon. By promising Rosie support that we shouldn't be able to provide, we not only introduce reasons for people to get up in our business, we also make any sort of amicable reconciliation between Rosie and her mother that much more difficult.

Also, Rosie is an idiot teenaged drug addict with poor self-control, black magic brain damage, and serious emotional issues. We don't need to just drop a financial windfall in her lap and expect good things to happen to her.

[X] "You don't have to make any decisions right now, Rosie. Focus on getting healthy and staying that way, both for yourself and for the baby. That's the most important thing right now."
-[X] "Whether you decide to keep her or find another home for her, you have options. There are resources, charities, and churches that can help. You wouldn't be the first young, unwed mother with a newborn baby and you won't be the last. And you've still got me. We'll figure something out, okay?"
--[X] And while you don't mention it to Rosie, you resolve yourself to acquire the funds to support your friend and her baby, should it prove necessary.

No, there is a reason why I stopped at the favored sphere, true Immortality is beyond the power of your exaltation to grant in this state and mages do not even use quintessence in this universe that is just essence which can with great effort be used in ritual, by people who know a lot more than Harry does. Nephilim would thus be making another exaltation which you cannot do.

Whichever vote wins sticking around is what would actually help things. Not any amount of promises or...

Honestly pretty heartless advice...

Making her a minion appeals to the pragmatic and brutal in the thread, and being there to actually help and assist her appeals to the more emotional and moral people. So it seems likely that we will be staying involved.

Small note here, she isn't a drug addict anymore because of the Black Magic, it hijacked her brain so now, instead of wanting a high that mental loop leads right to pure terror. Harry did that he could to make the reaction less extreme, but he could not remove it without doing Black Magic of his own so right now mechanically speaking Rosie has a derangement called Terror of Addiction.

The Denarians are all obviously inhuman, besides Nicodemus. Deirdre was a scaled panther thing with prehensile hair, her mother was a mantid, Ursiel took the form of a demon bear, Thorned Namshiel was called Spiny Boy for a reason, Quintus Cassius was a serpentine warform, and so on.
Most of them are capable of partial expression, and they tend to be more human the more powerful they are.

Slapping horns and some demon claws or something on Molly would just make her look like either a powerful or restrained Denarian.

Thinking of the scrapes people near us are likely to get into, I wonder if we could grant the Dragon Touched Merit Supernatural Healing and/or the M20 merit Spark of Life. Give someone both of them and they'd recover from even terrible lethal wounds very quickly.

Spark of Life yes to full wizards, supernatural healing no, unless you found some dragon touched. In terms of ways to allow even a mundane human to survive fights better:

Too Tough to Die
(5 pt. Physical Merit)
You're badass enough to shrug off injuries. They still harm
you, but they don't stop you. Game-wise, this Merit allows your
character to soak lethal damage – NOT aggravated damage.
Story-wise, those gunshots, knife wounds, broken bones, and
so forth still tear your character up – he's not bouncing shotgun
rounds off his chest. By soaking the associated health levels,
however, your character can push on through wounds that
would cripple or kill most folks.

We should help her, but I'm sort of waffling on how here.

On one hand just handing her a check every month is probably not a good plan for actually solving her problems. On the other most actual fixes would require getting more involved, and even if it's the right thing to do IC I'm not really that interested in allocating AP towards teenage pregnancy simulator on a game level.

I feel like we should also mention we could totally, truly support her if the worst should come to pass. Saying there's charities and 'you always have me' is nice but a bit ephemeral imo, especially with her mental state. Saying 'I can make diamonds if I really have to' is a lot more solid, and sets a solidly not awful worst case scenario.

[X] Offer Rosie as much money as she might need to take care of her baby, you'll figure it out somehow

We have so many ways to make money, hell we are just 6 xp short of being able to make her independently wealthy.

Your overthinking it.

Were not solving anything now. Trying is a waste of time and breath. This is a problem that will take time and consideration to solve. It would take it even with Verdant Emptiness Endowment.

As much as I find the long rambling meaningless nothing distasteful, both votes provide what she needs and is looking for right now. Support.

As for AP, think of as an investment. Many people explicitly want her as a minion. That we have an existing good relationship with her is already appealing.

And any minion we could pick up would take management. Creatures of darkness, warlocks, cursed beings...

I imagine if we fail this roll she'll be pretty pissed and demand to know what we're hiding if we don't tell her, telling her and failing will probably result in her either getting scared or going into denial. Since free will exists I expect clairvoyance to work somewhat like it does in 40k where you can see stuff that has a high chance to happen or a low one depending on what you're looking for but regardless of which it just might not. I imagine it has something to do with what you're thinking about so being untrained can cause you to use it subconsciously especially when asleep, can't wait to get called at 1 am about baby murderers.

[X] First, she is going to focus on getting better.
-[X] Second, you're going to research the shit out of every charity and possible aid she can get. There are things out there, and you're part of a church that likely has plenty of connections for that.
-[X] Third, you are here for her. If all else fails, you will find ways to help and support her, and you can do a lot.
-[X] Ultimately though, she has to remember that you're here for her. You are not going to demand she rely on you. If she needs something you can help, but you also want to help her get better and have a brighter future where she can be independent on her own.

I gotta say this as a personal statement but if my friend started saying things like 'don't worry I'm here for you' and 'we'll find a charity or I'll give you money' over and over again my response would probably be 'shut the fuck up, I don't need any charity or your money and shut up with the I'll be here for you bullshit, the more you say it the less reassuring it sounds and it didn't sound reassuring to begin with'
Though some of it stems from the fact that I live in the uk and the nhs takes care of hospital stays, a lot of what we're saying sounds very overbearing, I imagine she's been through some trauma so she'd probably want to avoid relying on others because she'd feel more in control when independent, we should absolutely ask her to go to therapy though we can't force her and that's going to cost money also. So we should start a company or something and hire her instead of just giving her the money to avoid her feeling indebted to us and I'm just going to say it, as she is I don't think she should take care of the baby not with everything else on her plate. As stated this is my personal opinion and I don't want to start a long argument about it because it's nearly 1 am.

The longer form vote is... not great IMO?

DP will probably rescue it in the update though so. *shrug*

So what would you recommend then?
