Oh, I like Mitl. He's an agent of chaos and he doesn't even realize it. But yeah, he and Zaiyu are very similar characters. The difference (so far) is that Zaiyu is a bit more aware of his surroundings. Mitl doesn't really get other people. Like, at all.

We genuinely have stuff to do - more stuff than we thought, even, after agreeing to look a little bit into politics for Rins. If the pattern holds, the Captain is going to ask us to do something extra too, and he's probably a little hard to say no to (as opposed to, for example, 'sir yes sir').

Also, yikes, Mitl sounds like a hilariously lethal foe for the MGs to fight.

We should establish a good relationship with Milt, his skills are useful both in combat and in normal times. At the same time, he is friendly to us and inexperienced enough in intrigues to easily manipulate him.
 
I love him already. He's like... a wonderfully deadly puppy. But I'm not enabling him!

Mitl: "Fascinating, you said earlier they naturally come in a shell but what is this crystalline material coating them?"
Zaiyu: "Uhm, it's a...mineral...very corrosive to metals. Humans also use it to forcibly clear frozen pathways."
Mitl: "Oooh! I could use that to sew more tropical-leaning plants in colder climates! Thank you, Zaiyu, I can't believe the humans just hand these out so freely."
Zaiyu: "It was nothing, Mitl. These humans can truly be so barbarous." *Stealthily stows the rest of the pack of airline peanuts into the folds of his clothing.*

Yeah not after that happened to Zaiyu's arm. Anyhow, our rival magical girl will be the princess. Who will be the rival to our other crewmen? I am guessing the athlete for Mitl because it seems hilarious.

I mean. Making harmless critters and ordinary items into monsters is a classic villain scheme in magical girl shows...

On a more serious note, this is one of the reasons Mitl brought so many scary plants with him. He fully expects that you will be borrowing some of his samples to make your monsters. And after this little debacle, he definitely owes you one.
