[X] Talk: surely there's someone around here who's playing not-technically-hooky. It'll help you get out of your own head, at least.
-[X] The Team: find one of your new roommates. Sharing incredibly personal details is old hat for them, at this point.

[X] Explore: Beacon's an old school, and frankly, considering who built it, and his hiring practices, you don't doubt for a second that this school has all kinds of weird nooks, crannies, and spots people only know about by stumbling on them through sheer chance. But where?
-[X] Explore the Basement: OH YEAH THAT POWER CABLE IS STILL THERE. HOPEFULLY. Really, if it isn't, that's just weirder, and you're down for weirder right now.

Jaune my boy, oversharing? These guys have to grind your SL for that, know your worth smh /s

But actually, Oobleck is a good guy. Hope Oz is paying him and everyone else on staff what they're worth, including benefits.

And much like choosing clubs, it is completely criminal that we aren't getting all these options.

Hear me out, what if... We don't follow Ozpin's recommendation?

Whew Oobleck, way to take a data point and run a mile with it. Usually psychologists get to know you better before poking and prodding and asserting assumptions. Because, yknow, a rapport is good before poking at peoples deepest vulnerabilities, and educated guessing being way more accurate once you get to know someone in person.

Basically, not impressed if what he's doing is trying to help Jaune and keep him in class. There are certainly professionals who could do worse jobs, but that's not a super high bar.

We voted for Jaune to say this.

Jaune didnt choose to say that because of some subconcious reason or because of how he deals with his trauma, it was literally just something we choose.

So the whole conversation afterwards feels really out of place.

Is every single thing we vote for gonna have this kind of ramifications and implications?

I don't really understand what's the problem here. While yes, Jaune is absolutely directed by our choices, he's also a character that isn't defined by them alone. Prok has his interpretation of Jaune's character, and I'm glad it's so concrete and not a blank reader insert.

And this kind of characterization isn't unfounded! It's entirely consistent with how Jaune tends to act! He almost killed himself thinking a god into existence, and he did it for mostly altruistic reasons. He gave a promise to a girl he really knew for a week to confront and kill one of the most dangerous serial killers in the world. He does these sorts of things consistently.

Get some of our assigned reading done, the Garden interests me, and I dunno I guess talk with people for the third slot. I find it funny to just completely ignore Blake.

There seem to be a few areas that got cut off. I'll mark what I spotted.
"... I'm… sorry, I don't know what you mean," you say, sounding more confused about this than you
"I think you want to be liked by the people around you. I think you fear being excluded like you were, so you, overextend, overshare, and you try to turn that into comedy because even then, you realised that trying not to lighten the mood with that ."

This one is just a typo
"aHow was your social life, as a child? Did you have many friends growing up?"

And for the votes, I picked four since Prok did say pick as many as we want. Personally, I'm hoping for the Cable and Blake to win, with one of the others coming out on top. Preferably talking with RWBY though, since I think there's possible synergy there that'd be neat to dig into.

The sentence just trails off
I don't really understand what's the problem here.
When Prok's finger puppet "Ooblek" attempted to psycho-analyze the choice that the players made for their shared-ownership fingerpuppet "Jaune", for some players it created an offsetting underlying implied analysis of the players by Prok. And this was made much worse by both the negative tone of the analysis of Jaune and also in some cases how dissonant the analysis was from some player's reasoning of "This sounds like an amusing story of childhood shenanigans I want to hear"

I liked the update. I don't think Oobleck was wrong to voice a concern he'd noticed, and I don't think he entirely misread the situation either?

It's not like one of the reasons I saw being given for that vote wasn't that some of us wanted a story which was a clear example of our Semblance being negative.

There are a lot of things on this list that I'd like to do, even if we can only accomplish three things in the allotted 6 hour timeslot, we're not barred from voting for more than three. These are the ones that I'd like to recomend.

This whole situation puts me in a bit of a pickle, because I don't want to be an asshole and dismiss people's feelings outright, but at the same time I disagree vehemently with the underlining perspective and assumptions to the point where I just can't let go of the topic without expressing my opinion first.

I, personally, think this quest is very different, narratively speaking, from PMAS or Sword of Paradise. Jaune isn't "us" in any meaningful way and we don't have almost any control over what he thinks or does beyond steering him in a sometimes vague direction. Assuming the opposite and that in-universe reactions to Jaune apply to us by association is just plain wrong here. Once you let go of this assumption, the chapter begins to make much more sense.

There is a discussion to be had about whether this format of quest is better or worse than the "audience insert" one, or whether second person narration is the most appropriate here, or how well the expectation of not having fine control over Jaune was set up, of course. People are free to dislike the format and how the certain moments were handled within that format. But what happens here is not that, IMO. It's just a misunderstanding of the degree of character-player integration the quest has.
