Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

I mean. Going full out "BE NOT AFRAID" strikes me as something for our second order Shintai, the first order one should probably just be Devil Tyrant Avatar.

I don't think it works that way. The unbound shintai charm just talks about adding bonuses and a few traits, but doesn't say anything about changing type.

If we picked devil tyrant we'd presumably not be able to build a demon empress on top of it later.

[X] Curious and interested, what does the Essence in your soul do? What spells could need that kind of power

I am going to take the last option and change it a bit. Also fits our behaviour so far and Urge.

Just keep in mind the urge is not the core of your character, it is the way in which the power of the exaltation has manifested for you, it is a tool, an influence, it is not Molly Carpenter. Not trying to single out this post in particular, just as a general note since I am not using Nature as I feel in a quest it would make for a flat character, but there is a whole of a lot more to Molly then just the way she regains essence or what her crown does. She is mildly into anime, has a budding interest in Gothic architecture, she is sad her oldest brother is growing distant and is worried about her father low key but constantly since she knows he is a man fighting hell-powered freaks, but then she feels guilty for her lack of faith etc...

Yes, but the way it has been characterized is that ths Urge is related to not wanting to make mistakes bungle some big magic, which is part of her character.

In this update though, she said she tried a lot of things when she found she could do magic, maybe even unwise things, so I'd like to move characterization in that direction and emphasize it, with an actual purer curiousity too, not just mistake avoidance.

If it makes sense.

So I've been reading Sorcerer to see if I can fit it in the world building and generally I think it does. If you want to pick up say non-ancient sorcery summoning and binding you can. It will be hard without another exalt to teach you since no one else has their magic come in Essence Motes, which for the rest of the supernatural world is basically nuclear hand grenades with a really complicated pin in them...thankfully

Wind Spirit: I have come as you have bid to aid you in your battle, but first let us talk price.
Molly: So how many nuclear hand-grenades will that be?
Wind Spirit: FOOSH :V

You would need to learn ritual magic not to protect yourselves from what you summon so much much as to assure them you mean them no ill.The kind of beings one might summon that do not get skittish around an infernal are trouble

The same with alchemy. You might be able to perform it with excellency and inside a walk in freezer, but the fact remains that your power comes in densities that would explode all mundane and many magical materials.

Molly doing sorcery by the rules of the World-That-Is is going to be tricky and time consuming so focus on one path that you guys feel has synergy and and go for that

I can see it now, Molly using Harry's Hexus spell as inspiration for her own Essence-based version, but not getting the conversion quite right and accidentally magically EMP'ing Chicago.

Oops?

I think enchanting would be really useful as we have already invested in craft.

But its probably a long therm goal, our exp is very inportat and has much bigger priorities for now.

Do you have a link for this? I'm not sure what sources you're using and I'm not familiar enough with exalted to be certain I'd actually find the same thing.

All you have to do is corner a minor spirit and traumatize it until it acquires a severe case of stockholm syndrome. Grab a mote of energy and shove it into its face like you are stuffing a turkey and I'm just sure things will turn out alright.

Thumbs up!

I think this is based on M20, or WoD Mage stuff called linear sorcery or hedge magic.

It has some good stuff but unless we can use the fortunetelling/fate path we're better off using Charms Ancient Sorcery and making sane Warlocks or wizards do this stuff and just boost them.

Like having a wizard summon and we do the binding as an example.

Edit: Sorry, I don't have a book to link.

Somewhere in Molly's soul scape Usum has an office for official business, which contains a notebook of our various subconscious desires.

So far this contains gems such as:

1) Murdering a millennia old diabolic warlock

2) Following up on fashion tips from a Fallen Angel

3) Becoming a glorious hell-star crowned with rings of brass and mouths of volcanic stone in part to mock pretenders to the throne of the hells

And finally

4) Feeding Pixies motes of essence until something cool happens.

The first three reaffirm that she was an excellent choice for an infernal; the last one he probably writes off as her inner first age solar shining through. :V

No, there are some pretty useful paths there. Like the one that lets you travel to different places quickly or craft magically enhanced materials that even mortals can use to deal extra damage or have enhanced armour. Imagine how awesome michael or whoever the dad with armour that can stand up to anti-tank round.

Or the weather control one that lets us bring winter for that boost.

It definitely has its niche but it is something i would be interested in after we get the shintai and the hell dimension.
