[X] I will trade on the reputation of the Caretakers. Knowing exactly why I have been sent out and why my dossier was so censored could put him at ease.
At least compared to Zhuan, not really. He blew all his anam on that single exchange. Zhuan was still at nearly 100%. In a real fight Zhuan would have easily won. Now, he probably deliberately picked his best possible technique for the contest and ignored the problem of having nothing left after his alpha strike, but Zhuan nearly matched the alpha strike with a normal technique. Zhuan could probably consistently out roll him if what's-his-name tried to fight more realistically.Hunh…
I will admit to not having the best sense for the number system but the sense I get is of them being significantly more powerful in straight combat…
But very much being discourteous at best, and at worst threatening the integrity of the mission given the whole cask affair.
It really is. Also proves we can work well with Mei Daiyu. For the people voting to list our accomplishments, I feel like the Deeps vestige is pretty important.
I think that this should be "inform him why I have been selected..."Clerk Ni Weiyan of the Imperial Bureaucracy wants me to inform him why you have been selected for this mission. What do I tell him?
Kong Zhi: Allow Me. I'm not as versed as you, but I can do it when you cannot act"Oh, we will certainly mention your names," another voice interrupts. "What were they again?"
It is only when delight sparks in Mei Daiyu's eyes that I realize that the voice is my own- and only then do I fully grasp the burning fury in my chest.
Kong Zhi: Elder Siani might buy me a drink instead"Disciple, should you behave in such an uncouth manner again, you will be named specifically in my report to your Elder!"
"Of course, honored sir," I answer, nodding as slightly as I can even as a vision of Elder Siani receiving a report from the Steadfast Court flashes before my eyes. It is not a long vision- it lasts barely long enough for him to use it to clean up his cinnamon ashes- but something of it must reflect on my face. A vein in Ni Weiyan's brow twitches and he seems to consider something before stopping and turning back.
...somebody shoop Anya's smirk onto Kong Zhi. And SianiThe top is filled out. My name is emblazoned in thick lettering along the top, as well as my age, rank, and a brief description. Everything else, however, is covered by enormous characters that blot out every field in the lower two thirds of the scroll. They say one thing and one thing alone:
NO.
This time, there is no stopping the sigh from escaping my lungs. I can almost feel the glee Elder Siani took in defacing this form radiating off of it like a physical thing.
Of all things, it's Mei Daiyu's choice of insult that startles Zhuan Kun enough for me to finally get a good grip on him. His muscles slacken with surprise and I'm able to drag him back several steps as he states, "Elder Lei is a skilled artist and worthy Elder; you should not insult him by comparing him to these knaves."
"What? I- Elder Lei is a frog, not a toad!" Mei Daiyu shoots back, glancing over at me for confirmation. All I can do is shrug as best as I can. "Right? His skin isn't nearly dry enough to be a toad." The distraction seems to be enough to ward off Zhuan Kun's blinding rage as he begins following an inner logic I can only guess at.
Surely the august disciples of the delving heart are not so unprofessional as to let a petty rivalry interfere with the emperor's mission?(Also, putting Mei Daiyu and Mo Hanying on the same team? LoL. This guy is either an idiot or his info did not contain information about how the disciples relate to each other).
