Fast Targeting Systems: No +1 diff for called shots

Improved Hull Integrity: +1 Resistance

Cloaking Device: Spend 3 power, and make a Control+Engineering + Engines + Security check with a diff of 2. If successful, gain the Cloaked Trait (impossible to detect, cannot attack, shields are down.) It takes a minor action to decloak.
TRAITS
Cardassian Ship – Durable, uncomfortable, close, cramped and cheap. Thinks creature comforts are for other people and technical sophistication is for people who haven't spent decades starving to death. The fact that the starving could have been avoided if the government were less...you know, monstrous doesn't seem to have occurred to that many of them.

Okampan Crew – the crew are bright, perky, cheerful, and incredibly psychically powerful. Individually, they're all better than Vulcans, and as a gestalt? Who knows!

[X] Beam B'lanna and Seska over. Cardassian tech wiz and Maquis engineering genius can sort this out in five minutes, right?

Most character driven solution.

...I don't suppose we could look into phase-cloaks?

Impressive, the Okampa accidentallied the Pegasus, minus the mutiny :D

replicating this process tends to kill entire crews and explode highly sensitive cloaking devices - enough that even the Romulans, infamously fine with losing people if its strategically viable, went, "Nah, this isn't worth it."

Too bad we don't just have access to the Pegasus' phase cloak...

Also right, I remember that episode with the warbird and people going out of phase.

-[X]and evacuate all non essential personnel from the Val Jean

Hopefully we can save the ship, but if not at least she won't go down with all hands

Odds the isolated and terrified Cardassian ensign, and the anti-Carassian freedom fighter with anger management issues will do more good than harm while working together?

[X] Modulate the tractor beam to shove against nickel, then gently push the asteroid away.
-[X]and evacuate all non essential personnel from the Val Jean

It phased in there, it can phase back out. We just need to push the rock without also pushing the ship.

Wait what they can do the thing the USS Pegasus did with the phase-cloak just by overloading the standard cloak?

Da fuq?

This strikes me as best.

--[X]and tell them we detect too much power running through their cloak so once the asteroid is clear they can adjust their settings.

Turning off the phasing cloak right now seems like it'd be death for a bunch of them.

Edit: I think Ocampa would be good (with supervision) for low intensity security, hydroponics, assistant medical personnel, crew psychology & morale, cargo handling, comms support, quartermaster, and biosciences (since everything is going to be new to anyone).

This sounds like someone fucked up in the starship design and programming stage.

The UI should not allow you to route three orders of magnitude too much power in without requiring a manual override. And there really should be hardware blocks on that kind of thing too.

Edit: Wait is it one or three oom? Text says factor ten but also says the mistake was a gigajoule / terajoule mix...

Geordie and Ro got pushed out of phase one episode due to an incident with a Romulan ship, then spent a few hours wandering around as ghosts. So yeah, it's a known phenomenon.

But it's one of those things where a single fluxuation of the cloaking field while phased with something will insta-kill the ship and crew. And since they fly about with active warp fields, subspace sensors, FTL comms, and a bunch of other stuff that dicks with conventional physics and interacts directly with other layers of reality .. well, there's a reason they constantly snag the ships on weird anomalies and space holes.

Meaning, it's not a matter of if, but when the cloaking field will hiccup and kill them all.

Welcome to Cardassian engineering. Did you know they only have one backup for essential systems?

A tie?! Well that won't do at all. Keep voting while I go to the grocery store.
