Like what? We can't teach him Unyielding Mountain unless we find another tank Partner for him to pair up with (in which case he can probably just learn it from them), I'm assuming he's already over the 90 MMA threshold so he's probably permanently mortal on that front, and we haven't broken through on any other martial arts yet.
Wake up at home, beat your sisters to one of the showers, brush your teeth, then put on your uniform.
Then you say good morning to your three youngest sisters, before having a light spar with the two other sisters near your age. Then you say good morning to your mother, father, and grandfather along with more light sparring with grandfather. Then it's off to school.
You can lift a 200lb weight over one hundred times before you start feeling anything.
You can eat large amounts of protein and never have to worry about getting the bad kind of fat.
All those things meant you left your fellow classmates in the dust during Physical Education. But that never bothered you. It was kind of fun to see everyone's jaw drop when you did the 100 meter run, then asked the teacher if you could keep going.
And I honestly couldn't care less about waifuing Ritsoku. Like maybe after the tournament as part of a victory celebration (whether or not we win, we still took a 1 v all fight and will likely do recently at the very least. And that's a victory in itself). But in general, making friends is cool, but not looking for waifus or husbandos.

I dunno, their relationship feels very natural to me. Plus, Ritsuko is a good fighter in her own right, and may offer her own helpful insights. We can hang out with her a day or two before the Big Day.

My name is Sakutaro Keishi. First name Keishi, last name Sakutaro, and in case what I'm about to do ends up being the last thing I'll do in my life, guess I should tell a little bit about myself just in case someone finds this diary at my remains.
As I said, my name is Sakutaro Keishi, I was abandoned by my parents as a baby and grew up in an orphanage. I'm just a run-of-the-mill convenience store clerk and recent graduate from Kirin High. Yeah, Kirin High. If you think about putting your kids there, don't. Considering how pretty much entirety of the student population are either delinquents, gang members, or both, I'm surprised how the school stays in practice. Well, there was at least one student there who broke the norm, an underclassman of mine. Straight-laced and quiet girl who seemed to be only interested in actually studying. Hope she's doing ok. But I'm getting sidetracked.
The reason I bring up my experience at Kirin High is because it ties to the reason I started this observation diary. In order to survive in an environment like Kirin, I learned two important tricks: how to not draw attention to myself and how to pick on people's emotions: their motives, feelings, and interests. It has helped me avoid trouble during my entire life, to avoid attention of other people and be able to see what makes them tick, how to read them and if necessary, placate them. This desire to avoid attention is what led me to find this spot at the river bank opposite of some old, abandoned warehouses on the other side of the river, where they let the grass grow long for some reason. I often go there to relax, just laying amongst the grass and snoozing, the grass hiding me making me feel like I'm all alone in the world. I was there yesterday as well, day like any other, until something unusual happened that broke the monotomy of my life. I heard something splash into the water.
Now, curious, and what I hope will not have been against my better judgement, I got up and peeked from the grass. I expected maybe see some kids throwing stones in the river or someone dumping their trash in the water. What I did not expect to see was someone climb up from the river, with a fish in their mouth. What I also did not expect to see that the said creature, whom right now I'd assume would around teenager in human years by their size, despite resembling human, had two curling horns on their head and two tails with white tufts of fur at their end. Oh, and also, a pair of wings sprouting from its back! I know that sounds crazy, but I actually saw it move both the tails and the wings as it shook all the water off. Last of my doubts to the fact that this creature was not human faded when I saw it jump into the air and use its wings to glide into one of the warehouses through a broken window. Besides, Halloween is still far away.
My first reaction was to call someone to report the creature, but who would I have called? Police? Immigration office? Animal control? Those crazy cryptozoologists looking for Big Foot? No, what I need is more information before deciding my next course of action. Thus, tomorrow I will start my official study and observation of this creature.
Day 1
I've set my observation post/camp at the tall grass, opposite of the warehouse where the creature is residing. I'm prepared with camping equipment and binoculars for observation, since I'm prepared to stay here for long periods of time as soon as I get out of work.
From what I've seen thus far, the creature doesn't leave its dwelling often, aside from to catch food from the river and occasionally to, what I assume, patrol its territory by walking around the warehouse, never straying too far from it. Interestingly, it actually seems to be able to walk on both all-fours and on two legs, but prefers all-fours to lower its profile.
I believe this is also a good time to describe this creature in more detail. As I pointed out before, by size I'd guess it to be a teenager in human years and it has two curled horns on its head, two tails with white tufts of fur at their ends and two draconian or demonic, leathery wings covered in white fur on its back. Most of the rest of the creatures body is covered in either short black fur or longer white fur. Only exception to this are the creature's head and face, that look exactly like human's with short, messy orange hair. Only thing that shows the creatures inhumanity on its face are its eyes, which are deep magenta color and have spiral patterns instead of pupils. The creature also has hooven feet, long claws on its fingers and a strange, cracked oval like stone on its forehead. By body proportions I'd guess that the creature is female. I've added a drawing on the following page.
Day 4
My investigation has met an impasse. During these last few days the creatures mannerisms have not changed and I have no way of seeing inside the warehouse due to the distance and the poor quality of its windows after what I assume years of neglect and being left to the elements. The most exciting thing that has happened was yesterday when the creature drove off few stray dogs that tried to scare it off. But what it told me is that the creature simply didn't want these aggressive intruders to intrude on its home, so I don't believe it to be intrinsically hostile. It also seemed rather smug after driving them off.
Thus, tomorrow I will attempt history and, as the first human ever, make contact with what seems to be at least semi-sapient non-human life form. Hopefully it will find my offerings more appetizing than me.
Day 5
Good news, my plan of making contact with the creature has turned out to be a resounding success. When I first entered the warehouse the creature did not attempt to scare or drive me away, like I first expected, but instead hid, observing me. It took me some time to manage to coax it out from its hiding spot amongst the boxes, but the smell of actual food did the trick. It also seems to have taken an actual liking to me, instead of just tolerating my presence. Never underestimate the effect of sharing food to create a good starting relationship.
Bad(?) news, while it found the pre-prepared meals I brought from work to it as a gift absolutely delicious judging by the speed it wolfed them down, it seems to desire more. Creature with such a sharp claws (and fangs too, I can see now) shouldn't be able to look that cute.
Day 10
Since my last entry I've moved my observation post from the outside to inside the warehouse, into what I assume is the office of the stockkeeper. It has no holes nor broken windows and enough room for both of us to be, even after I moved in even more stuff to help with observing of the creature. Kinda cozy, actually, especially after cleaning.
Speaking of the creature, it has spent lot of time either just observing me or simply hanging around, sometimes literally. What I've seen, it is not just capable of flying short distances, but also an excellent climber and very acrobatic, considering the moves, jumps and leaps I've seen it perform in my sight. I'm starting to believe that with me here cooking for both of us, thus removing most of the creatures need to hunt for itself right now, it is growing bored and looking for other ways to use its time. This works well for me. With my position secured in its dwelling, I think it is time for me to start testing how smart this creature actually is and studying it more closely.
Day 14
After rereading through my past notes, I have to admit that I have done a great disservice to this being in my prejudgments of its intelligence. During these last few days I've conducted multiple tests with it with logic puzzles, calculation tests and seeing its understanding of concepts and ideas through videos and pictures. This has led me to a following conclusion:
While the creature acts somewhat animalistic, walking on all-fours (though it has been doing that less since my arrival) and only communicates with noises like mewls, growls and such, it seems to have understood everything I've said to it, including answering my questions with either nods or shakes of its head. This has also helped me learn that it doesn't seem to remember much from its past. But it has shown young adult human level of intelligence (if a bit simplistic) and understanding of abstract concepts and metaphors, including understanding that videos I've shown it from my phone are not real. It has also shown wide range of emotions and facial expressions, as well as distinct personality.
Whatever this creature is, it is definitely sapient and intelligent, and I feel very embarrassed for even considering it to be some kind of very smart animal, like a dolphin. Though I did already embarrass myself when asking it if it was a boy or a girl. The look it gave me was harrowing.
Addendum:
I really need to start referring to her as 'her', not 'it'. 'It' is dehumanizing. Depersonizing? I'll think proper terminology later. Also, since she doesn't have a name, I should come up with some and she if she likes any of them.
Day 15
Aina. Her name is Aina.
Day 17
I experienced quite the scare today. As I was heading from work back to the warehouse I started hearing sounds of growling, barking, yelps and fighting from the warehouse's direction, so I quickly hurried there fearful of Aina's safety. It seems that the stray dogs from two weeks ago had returned, with friends. I fear that they might have smelled the food I have been cooking for me and Aina ever since I settled in. There were over ten of them and judging by what was going on, this time they had decided to try and make Aina vacate the premises with force. Keyword being try.
Aina was pretty much dominating the fight, throwing off the dogs and roaring and growling at them to keep them at bay, and while that had forced the dogs to keep their distance, the growling from the biggest one, pack leader I'd wager, kept them from running away. This is where I started running in, waving my arms and bag while making as much noise as possible to finally scare them away. And while it made the dogs look even more scared, it also drew Aina's attention for a moment, a moment the pack leader capitulated, charging in and biting her. I was shocked, but so seemed to be dog when it realized that no matter how much it pulled, it couldn't move her an inch. And Aina didn't look happy.
Aina's face twisted into an ugly, terrifying snarl and she slashed with her other hand, sending the dog flying away in a spurt of blood, four bleeding gashes on its hindquarters. This was the last straw for the pack, as they all started running off. As the pack leader was trying to get back up, Aina loomed over it, raising her bloodied claw to finish it off. This is where I finally got to them, stopping her. While the dogs did start this, I'm not nearly cold blooded enough to see a dog being butchered right in front of me. As she turned to look at me, the look on her face made me break out in cold sweat. It was something old, primal, and very dangerous. Thankfully for me, as soon as she noticed it was me she calmed down, letting the dog scamper off as she stared at her claw and the blood dripping from it in some kind of confused fascination. I then had to stop her from licking the blood from it, and instead led her to the river to wash it off as I pulled out my phone and called the animal control to inform of them of the stray dogs and where they were heading. I spent rest of the day hiding inside the warehouse with her, just in case the animal control people came anywhere near, reading to her.
But despite everything, I cannot shake that memory of a cold, cruel look that was on her face from my mind. Hopefully nothing like this happens again.
Day 18
Good news, the animal control people came nowhere near our warehouse. Bad news, after yesterday's fight and who knows how long with no hygiene care aside from dips to the river, Aina is filthy and her fur is a knotty mess. Thus, after getting some stuff from my apartment I decided to give her a proper bath and grooming. Yes, I know how to do those things, you'd be surprised how well you can keep in the good graces of delinquents when you can give them punk hairstyles for free. Hopefully she won't be childish about this.
Addendum:
I have been pleasently surprised. After I explained my intentions, Aina showed no resistance to being cleaned, not even for doing it in a wash tub with water heated in an electric kettle. I also offered to leave if she found my presence uncomfortable, but she let me help with washing. She even let me trim her nails to normal size. She especially enjoyed the brushing and has taken quite the liking to the brush itself. I'll let her keep that.
Day 24
...
...
...
It seems that in my previous musings I had not only made wrong assumptions of Aina's intelligence, but also of her age. As I stated previously, I assumed her to be a teenager by her size, but when I arrived today to the warehouse Aina was waiting for me at the door, standing just as tall as I was. After I got over my shock I asked how did she do that, which she answered by suddenly growing little over three meters tall, pulling me in, grabbing and hugging me like I was a giant teddy bear. Afterwards she finally pointed towards the food cabinet. It seems she needed proper nutrition to stop having to stay in such a small form. Guess I'll now just have to wait till she stops cuddling me.
Addendum:
She really likes to cuddle and her fur is very soft and fluffy.
Day 54
It has been quite a long since my last entry, and honestly I had almost forgotten I even started this diary to document my findings on Aina. I've found myself spending lot of time with her and I'm pretty sure that I spend lot more time here than in my apartment. Hell, considering how much stuff I've moved here, i basically live here with her now. Not that I'm really complaining, she's great company. I read to her, we play games, watch movies and videos, and just enjoy each other's presence. But this has also got me thinking of Aina's condition.
Now, I'm no psychologist or doctor of any kind, so take my diagnosis with a grain of salt, but with her apparent age, intelligence and understanding mixed with her childlike wonder of things, lack of memories, and incapability to speak, and her being frustrated over the fact on multiple occasions, I believe that she has suffered some kind of trauma or injury in the past that had led to her current predicament. It probably has something to do with that oval stone on her forehead and the crack in it. I would inspect it closer, but she doesn't like anyone touching it and It seems to be painful to her. But I can't help but wonder, what happened to her?
Day 56
I had to take a detour to the warehouse today. I saw a lot of Kirin High students on the move in mass today and whatever trouble they were going to get into, I wanted nothing to do with that. I just wish someone would give those useless idiots a good trashing.
Day ##
Extra long day at work, hopefully Aina hasn't gotten bored waiting for me. It has also started to drizzle, better grab my umbrella and hurry. And extra towels, in case she decides to walk around in the rain again.
----
Your name is Aina and you're waiting. It is a nice name, Keishi gave it to you. You like it, and you like Keishi. He has been the nicest person you've met since you... woke up. Something inside you told you to stay away from humans, like an instinct. The few times you had been seen had led to people screaming and runningn away. And that one old, wrinkly lady who had started throwing salt at you. It burned, so you ran away. But Keishi did none of those things. He helped you, fed you, played and spent time with you. You couldn't remember when was the last time you had been this happy.
Not that you could remember much. Before finding your current dwelling you had just been moving a lot, not really caring about the passage of time, so you weren't even sure how long you had been... awake. You have tried to remember something from the time before you... woke, you know that there is something there, but every time you have tried your head had started to hurt, especially that stone on your forehead, forcing you to stop. But recently you had been less and less interested in remembering your past. Right now you have a nice, warm home, food, a brush to keep your fur nice and Keishi. Though he is kinda dummy-dummy. Couldn't even tell that you're a girl. That dummy. And he is late.
...That's it, you're done waiting. Keishi has never been late, you need to go and find him. Good thing that the rain has forced most humans to take shelter in their homes, making it easier to avoid detection. And even if they hadn't, thanks to Keishi you had learned of a perfect disguise to hide yourself! A pair of rubber boots to hide your hooves and a large yellow raincoat to hide the rest of you. Even if someone were to look at you, at best they'd be able to see your face!
Your perfect disguise donned, you step out of the warehouse and into the darkening evening, following Keishi's scent.
----
"That's him, right there! I was sure that I saw Sakutaro walking around just now, and there he is. I thought I had just imagined seeing a glimpse of him here when we were heading to teach those posh Raijin wimps a lesson!"
With the drizzle having turned into a downpour I almost missed someone calling my name. Turning around, I see a group of people approaching from the end of the small bridge I was crossing. I wanted nothing to do with these people, so I immediately turned tail and decided to run. Unfortunately, my only path of escape was blocked as few people with motorcycles speeded past me, cutting me off.
"Now, now, Keishi, what way is that to treat an old friend?" Called out another voice. Voice that I recognized and to which I had only one reaction:
"Shit."
Inoshishi Ryōta, a classmate from Kirin with his open jacket and ridiculous pompadour that was keeping its shape even in the rain. Well, technically he should have been my senior, but he'd had to repeat a year so many times that we'd ended up in the same class during my third year. The worst part was that the guy was dumb, violent and loved to pick on those weaker than him. Which had made me a prime target for him. Luckily for me, with my hairdressing skills I had managed to garner protection from some of the biggest shots of the school at the time, which in turn meant that I was out of his reach. And didn't that piss him off. And now he was approaching me with a gaggle of other people, some of them wearing Kirin uniforms, the rest of them some kind of gang uniform whose symbols I didn't recognize. Including Inoshishi. It's ok, you can make it through this, Keishi, Aina is waiting for you. He's probably just going to beat you up, so humor him and don't do anything to antagonize him any further.
"Hey, Inoshishi. Guess after all these years you actually managed to gaduate." No, Keishi you idot! Aina and her carefreeness is bad influence on you!
I see a vein start pulsing on Inoshishi's forehead, before he smirks at me. "Nah, I dropped out, school is for losers. Besides, the cops raided the whole place recently, so it's not like I can even hang around there anymore." He and the rest of his gang step closer, close enough that I can smell the cheap booze in their breath, as they box me in against the bridge's railing.
"But that has also left with a problem, namely most of my boys being put in irons. So, color me surprised when I heard that my old pal Keishi has been skulking around. So what do you say, Keishi, want to join the Torakutabare and actually make something of your life? We can start your initiation right now." Inoshishi prattles on, as I easily read the true meaning behind his words. He wants to get back at me for getting away, and what better way than to make me his gang's new errand boy. And no matter what I did, I wasn't going to get out of here without being covered in bruises. My eyes darted around frantically, looking for any avenue of escape, but they had me completely surrounded. The river? One look told me that it would be a bad idea, the rain had made it rapid and the drop itself was multiple meters. Back in the day, I would have just bowed my head and gone the path of least resistance. But then I thought of Aina, how she was waiting for me, and courage I never knew I had stirred inside of me.
"Inoshishi. Go fuck yourself." As Inoshishi's face morphs into a look of utter disbelief I smack him with my umbrella as hard as I can, leaving it behind as I shoulder tackle one of his goons to break out of the encirclement and take off running. I almost manage to escape before I feel two somethings hit me in the back and feel multiple volts of electricity course through my body. I fall down as my muscles spasm and I let out a pained scream.
"I wasn't going to use this right at the beginning, but thanks for giving me a reason, Keishi." Inoshishi says through a bleeding nose, holding a stungun in his hands. "Now boys, why don't you tenderize him for a moment while I think how to punish him properly."
I barely manage to force my body to curl into a ball as the other gang members start raining punches and kicks on me. But then, an ear piercing cry cuts off all the other sounds of the night.
"KEISHI!!!"
----
"KEISHI!!!"
You heard Keishi cry! He's hurt! Those bad people are hurting him!
"...Holy shit, man, you somehow managed to score a girl? And not a bad looking. Boys, grab them both, she can entertain us as we punish Keishi for his insubordination."
The one with stupid hair keeps prattling, and it makes you even angrier. He's the one who hurt Keishi. And he intends to hurt him even more. Something snaps inside of you, feeling of murderous intent, your claws and teeth growing and sharpening as red and black miasma starts pouring out of your body. Your head hurts but you don't care, they hurt Keishi! You let out a bellowing roar, stone and concrete breaking under your booted hooves as you rocket towards the ones who hurt Keishi. You catch up to the one with stupid hair in an instant, grabbing his arm holding the strange weapon and breaking it. As he falls down, screaming, the rest of his minions attack you. And they fall down like leaves before you.
You want to hurt them, tear them apart, but then an image of Keishi flashes in your mind, making you hold back and not rip and tear them apart with your claws. One of them tries to get on his bike, probably to run you over, but you grab the bike, lifting it above your head and tearing it apart, the minions still conscious staring at you in fear and shock.
"Hey, bitch!"
You whip your head around, seeing that the one with stupid hair has managed to get back up. And he's holding Keishi by his collar!
"You want your boy-toy? Go and get him!"
With one swift motion the one with stupid hair throws Keishi off the bridge. You don't hesitate for a second, diving after him and swimming towards him as soon as you hit the water. You're not sure how far the raging river takes you as you battle its currents and the obstacles flowing in it, but you finally manage to get to Keishi, grabbing his limp body. Knowing you need to get Keishi out of here now, you kick off your boots, plant your hooves to the bottom of the river and PUNCH! The river explodes around you, beginning to flow in the opposite direction, giving you plenty of time to get to the shore.
You lay Keishi down, cradling his body in your arms. He's cold, breathing erratically, and only then you notice the metal pipe that has impaled him through his stomach. He's bleeding, bleeding so much! You try to use your hands, trying to stem the bleeding but it just continues. Stupid blood, go back inside, go back inside!
You need to do something, but you're not sure what. You... You remember there was something you could do, something you know would help but you cannot remember what. You try to remember, but it hurts to try to remember, and the more you try the more it hurts.
In desperation and pain you smash your forehead against the ground and while you cannot see it, another crack appears on the oval stone. And then you remember what you need to do.
You pick Keishi up and dash into your home, grabbing the brush he gave you and putting it into his hand while your hand covers his. You settle him on your lap as you continue the process, carefully removing the pipe. You bite your cheek hard enough to draw blood and then lift Keishi up, his half lidded eyes opening in surprise as you crush your lips to his, slipping your blood into his mouth, making him swallow. You still cannot speak properly, but you recite the oath in his mind, desperately waiting for his reply until you hear him say two words:
"I do."
In an instant, crimson flames surround you both and soon die just as quickly, your Bond established. You look down on Keishi, now peacefully asleep with his breathing returned to normal, his clothes covered in blood but from the wound itself nothing remaining but a scar.
You let out a breath you hadn't realized you were holding. Keishi is alright. Keishi will live. Now, you need to get him dry clothes and activate that portable heater device.
----
You let out a small smile as you feel Aina cuddle closer to you under the blanket you're sharing, placing her head on your shoulder as you sit in front of the portable heater in the warehouse. Feeling the warmth return to your body you let out a content sigh, which makes Aina turn her head toward you.
"Oh, I'm ok, Aina, it's just..." You stop for a second, realizing that you meant every word you were going to say from the bottom of your heart.

90 to 101: From here Hose doesn't really "teach" you anything. Most of the training he normally gave out focused on conventional things. Where to hit the enemy, how quickly you needed to hit them, when to switch into a different style to throw off your opponent, etc. etc.
That's normal stuff.
But you're not exactly "normal" anymore when it comes to this.
That stuff's already clear to you. You know it like the back of your hand.
So, instead, Hose just starts having you practice. Learn exactly how far you can push yourself now.
The answer, you find, is pretty damn far. Hitting someone three times in rapid succession without feeling tired is now within the realm of possibility for you. As is pull off a dropkick and immediately shifting into an axe kick without issue.
Which is where you realize the next problem with your new...power you suppose. You can't really direct it. The thing with the speed bag? That was kind of on accident. You were just throwing your power around in anyway you could. There was no precision nor direction to your attacks. Just aim fist here, launch super powered attack, rinse and repeat.
In a random brawl? That's fine.
But you were going to a tournament. So you needed to change that.
So, that's what you did. Hose couldn't really help you much in terms of sparring. You didn't want to accidentally send the guy flying through a wall or something. Instead you used the training dummies...lots of training dummies.
You hope this won't come out of your scholarship.
It took a while. In fact, you think the two of you were at it for two days.
But, on the second night and your fiftieth training dummy, you managed it.
With a clear mind you focused your will into a single powerful strike at the dummy's chin. You launched the fastest punch you've ever thrown at anything. Your arm becomes a brilliant streak of black as it connects with the dummy's sack head. You hear the sound of cloth tearing and stuffing falling out.
When you stop your attack, the dummy's chin is gone...along with all the stuffing.
You look to the left and see it all out on the floor. Then it's head deflates.
Well...that's really cool.
You and Hose test your new attack out a bit. What you find is both encouraging and disappointing.
On the one hand, it doesn't seem to be limited to your fists. You can use the move with your legs, feet, and arms too. Doesn't work with the rest of your body though. This means that you almost always have access to this attack as long as your extremities are in play.
On the other, every time you use it there's this sharp tingling sensation that runs up whatever body part you used. When you try to use it again the body part in question screams in protest. The pain is so much that you're brought to one knee. Hose suggest you only use that to start a fight or end it. You can't help but agree.
Oh, and you can move/hit fast enough that your punches and kicks look like blurs to other people. So that's cool.
Super Art Perk 2: Precise Strike: I can end this in one blow. Gain the ability to perform a powerful attack that gives you +30 to your Combat Checks when you use it. Can only be used once per fight.
[X] Karate: 53 + 25 = 78
You've learned most of the advanced Kata and techniques associated with Karate. You could probably give an expert in the field a run for their money.
[X] Kendo: 53 +25 = 78
You've learned most of the advanced stances and techniques associated with Kendo. You could easily fight the most skilled practitioner to a stand still.
"Well, Sakura?" Hose says while poking his fellow third year with his elbow, "What do you think? Now that Hayato has managed to become far more ready for the Tournament than you expected? In two weeks?"
The girl shakes her head, but looks up at you with a smile on her face. She shrugs as much as her crutches will allow, "Alright, I'll admit it. I was wrong. Hayato, man, you're something right out of a storybook."
"Really?" you scratch your cheek in embarrassment while chuckling, "Heh, heh. I don't think I'm that great..."
"You managed to become skilled enough to likely win the entire Tournament within two weeks," Seteke lays out in a matter-of-fact tone. He nods to you, "That is truly extraordinary, Hayato. I am pleased to have been able to help you accomplish so much."
Hose nods in agreement. You smile and pound a fist into your palm, "So, what do you guys think of my chances now? Still think I won't be able to bring this on home?"
"Dude, at this point, you could probably bring us the gold for the next two years," Hose's laugh is infectious, as the rest of you being chuckling as well. Even the normally serious Seteke.
You start to leave as the laughs die down, thanking them for all the help and saying you can't wait to see them this weekend.
The smile on your face remains...until you're certain that you're out of their line of sight.
Then a frown comes over your face and you sigh.
"What troubles you, my Lord?" Yato speaks up as you begin to walk.
You look down at the gloves on your hands. You flex your fingers, feeling the power you know have just beneath the skin. You shake your head, "Yato, can you do me a favor?"
"Of course, my Lord. What do you require?"
"Before the Tournament, can you help me figure out how far I can go with my MMA Style without hurting anyone?"
Yato is silent for a moment. Then he speaks, "If I may, my Lord, why would you wish to do that? Wouldn't you want to use your full might against whoever dared face you. Show them the might you now possess and exactly how far beyond them you are."
You shake your head, "That's the thing, Yato. I don't want that. Firstly, cause I don't want to hurt anyone. Not only will it get me disqualified, but I don't want to go into a fight and break someone's arm with a single punch. That's way too far! And second...
[Empathy: Motives: 33]
"...I'm not in the business of crushing people's dreams."
Silence.
"What if those people wish you, your brother, and innocent people harm?"
"Oh, then all bets are off. Fuck people like that."
Your training with Yato is really starting to pay off. Granted, his methods of having you spar more with Hose and trying to teach you while you're trying to dodge the guy's blows is pretty harsh. But it starts to work.
More so than simply making your skin harder.
You start to...well...understand how to avoid pain even when you take hits. Other than simply taking it on the chin you mean.
Whenever you're about to get hurt your body things involuntarily. It tenses, releases your adrenaline, makes you tighter than a wound up spring. All in preparation to take a blow from whoever's trying to hurt you.
But, in some ways, that can be a determent.
Sometimes it's better to be loose. To let your body flow with the attack. Tensing up will just make it hurt more or make you tank something that shouldn't be tanked.
So, through your training, you start learning to recognize those moments. Feel when your body is about to tense up at an attack. Then you either let it happen and tank the shot, or stop it and move out of the way with the extra agility.
By the end, you've manage to figure out how to voluntarily tense your muscles for defense.
