Also, Holy crap, we're at 400 pages... That is honestly amazing, and Thank you all for your continued support.

The only reason I use Marx as an example, instead of say, a more focused political historiographer and historian and political historians like François Mignet (who actually studied and tried to understand the French Revolution and its causes, and I believe came to a far better conclusion then Marx) because... well for better or for worse, he's one of the people who expanded many of the political thoughts of the Revolution, (Conspiracy of Equals) and formed the ideas that created communism along with Engels.

Plus, Marx kinda did start the next great wave of revolutions with his writings and political thinking... Whether they were a good thing for the world is very much debatable (Though I will not state my opinion on the subject.) :V
Im guessing an emphasis on the need for a vangaurd party to control the excesses of the revolution and to educate the population, for the revolution will fail if it is allowed to go unchecked.

Perhaps.

It will certainly give a more... authoritarian bent to any future revolution.

Hahaha, like Marx will listen the writings of the bourgeoisie. If anything making sure revolution has a tight leash on the revolutionary army and eliminating any form of idol worship , or national gratification will secure it's success! I strongly warn against any new Jaune D'arcy's that will betray the revolution the moment their eyes land on a Crown!

... You know, at least in our case, it wasn't our idea to get crowned. If anything we're just along for the ride.

That is why, once this war is over, we should write a private journal to be released after our death. Then all shall know that, instead of a political and martial mastermind, we were the most frantic whack-a-mole player in the world.
We the Novel idea.

it could be our memoirs.

Ha, like memoirs of fake savior is worth something, just a propaganda to justify her rule!

It's obvious what must be done.

So a quick question.

I know for a fact we said that Napoleon would not be a POV charecter.

However, what do you all think of Nappy right now?

And would you like to know some of his thoughts.

I would very much like to know some of his thoughts, especially since I plan to write the Omake where he reflects on Therese getting injured from his POV.

As of what I think of him? Mostly VIVE L'EMPEREUR!!!
More seriously though, so far I think he has proven himself to be both reasonable AND supremely capable. While I wouldn't say I 100% trust him yet (and my good impressions may yet change, who knows?), he is so far on a good way to earn that trust. Most importantly however, right now he seems like someone we can work well with to save and stabilize France.

Well, the one thing that should be known is that he is very, very, very interested in establishing his own view of the Revolution, social order, and economic vision onto France, turning the nation into at least partially, a self-sufficient, militarily powerful, and a political force within the European continent, one where it's the economy is strong, it's people comfortable in their economic situation, and where the French People are willing and able to fight and die for the nation.

His view on slavery is slightly colored (hah) by the continued success of many free men of color that are serving France and Haiti and kicking the ass of their enemies. While he may reinstitute it here to survive a political shitstorm that may destroy the country, he will only do it to save France, and not for his own personal animosity against Black people, and his want for more wealth.

His interests outside of Europe, like restoring the colonies and making alliances, and reshaping the social orders there, are not important to him. He believes that, if Europe were to fall to him, the colonies will go towards his ideas as well, and at least the ideas of meritocracy and merit-based places are thrown in.

As for his economic policy: He actually wants to continue our industrialization and liberalize the economy, and diversify what industries we can get, to make us a direct competitor to England.

As for his family: Most of his familial relationships are still the same, though he is actually wishing his youngest brother would stop following him around and acting like his aide.

Therese is one of the bright spots of his life. And thinks of her often.

He is doing everything to secure his own power...

But also to make France Powerful as well.

I will be honest this worries me quite a but in what the effects might be.

I mean even Toussaint an co would agree with him that they do need to restore the plantation system for economic reason but he has made an effort to use paid labor. The big whites and some of the freed black are certainly fine with restoring slavery but restoring slavery is the type of thing that might just cause the colony to be lost.

... Also we have no idea if the Spanish super crit is going to effect Haiti.

I shall say this.

Unless things go to absolute shit, Slavery will not be reinsituted.

Well that will depend massively on what happens to Haiti in the coming showdown with the Royal Navy.

That Crit is for dealing with its rebellious colonies, not for striking back against the French.

Spain Mainland Proper has been abandoned.

You know, I wonder how historians like Marx are going to see this when it all plays out?
Aside from what was already said by other people... a possible option would be for Marx to realize the following (admittedly, I could be wrong about this):
  • The leader of a revolution needs to be someone of strong morals and reputable character, in order to avoid the revolution becoming just as bad the regime it overthrew. (see Robespierre taking offense to Marat's articles and executing him out of hurt pride, which is the moment when things started to go downhill for the Republic and the Revolution)
  • Any armed forces that are part of a revolution need to be willing in their participation, not coerced. Otherwise, the enemies of the revolution will capitalize on this and will seek ways to persuade parts of the revolutionary army to defect to them, depriving the revolution the capability of fighting off their enemies. (see Robespierre's attempt at enforcing loyalty via guillotine threats and comissars and how quickly the Army of the North and the forces in Paris defected to Napoleon's side when given a chance to break free from the comissars and the threats)
  • It is better to work within the system to achieve the objectives of the revolution than to attempt to fight the system itself, if possible. There are times when violence will be needed, but that should be a last resort option. (see the so-called "false Jeanne d'Arc" Therese Auclair implemeting similar ideas and reforms to the Revolution, despite being an enemy of Robespierre)
Of course, it is possible that Marx may conclude that Robespierre's methods were right and that they should be applied again for future revolutions, but in that case... those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

We do not know yet for sure how Robespierre will be perceived by those who will come after him and his passing. He may be seen as a inspiration, but he may also be perceived as a cautionary tale as to what not to do in a revolution. Only time can tell how Robespierre will be seen in the eyes of history.
