I wonder what type of message would be sent if we gave Robespierre a military trial, and had him be executed by firing squad. Would it give the right sort of 'stratocracy' vibes?
In other news, I can imagine that Brian will have an extremely mixed reputation. Since in France, as history is written by the victors, he will be lauded. Napoleon and Therese love the guy, and will ensure all official stuff about him focuses on his positives.
Meanwhile, if Robespierre can get away to another country, he'll write pages and pages about 'The Monstrous Giant', 'The Corsican Ogre', and 'The whore of Avignon'. And in populations that are inclined to believe it, our reputation will be ruined. It will be kind of like the British propaganda efforts about things like the Spanish Inquisition or the German empire, that define public perception in most of the world.
In regards to the 'el dorado' roll, I would suggest to not do meme rolls anymore. The more realistic the quest is, the more enjoyable it becomes. High stakes, high consequences, and realism lead to real victories.
Also I'm feeling pretty iffy about exploding dice. I rather just have more bonuses and malus than mega ultra crits. Not totally sure though.
PS: I rather not fight Spain too much. The Pyrenees is our most defensible border, and their army has bigger problems, so suppressing them isn't a huge deal, and I don't want to lose 300k soldiers in guerrilla wars anywhere.
