The Path Unending (A Cultivation Quest)

[X] Greater Efficiency. (Kong Zhi is far more used to manipulating his own anam than he once was. He no longer suffers from the 10% penalty towards combat techniques inherent to the Kong Family Cycling Technique.)

[x] Enhanced Recovery. (Kong Zhi's breathing technique now bolsters his core, increasing it's own productivity. Kong Zhi's EMP is doubled when calculating anam regeneration rate.)

[X] Added Utility. (When Kong Zhi is not at a Natural Wonder, he can still attempt to cycle ambient anam. He may cycle at a location not strong in anam and gain an amount of anam equal to his WIT that is appropriately aspected.)

Sounds narratively fun.

I'm not sure where it leads, but it feels more like KZ to me.

Okay. I'm convinced.

I like this option especially with my desire to work on SEG more.

Let me make a quick argument against Greater Efficiency - it's the only one of the three options that does literally nothing.
In order to save us a single mote of anam on a technique activation - it needs to be a technique that:
a.) matches zero elements of our core and has a base cost of six or higher (none of our current techniques) This will stop a 6-anam technique from going to 7-anam. We really can't afford 6-anam techs with our pitiful pool anyway.
b.) match smoke/steel, and have an anam cost of at least 6 (again, none of our current techs) this will make a 6-15 cost go down by 1 to 5-14. Which is a marginal gain at best
c.) match time, and have a cost of 6+ (once again, none of our current techs) but a bigger discount at the high end I guess.

Our current techs are a 2-cost Wood/Earth, a 3-cost Beast/Sound a 1-5 cost beauty, a 5-cost time, a 4-cost steel/royalty and a 4-cost smoke/wind.
None of them benefit. What are the odds we get a 6+ cost anytime soon? We've got enough other techs to work on before we go looking for something more expensive than we can reasonably use.

Enhanced recovery at least incentivizes us to do things with our anam more, or dump it into charms occasionally (though, honestly, with a steady income of sect points and access to discount pills, any time we want a quick anam infusion/recharge, we can get it)

But Enhanced Utility? That opens up new actions that don't exist otherwise.

[X] Added Utility. (When Kong Zhi is not at a Natural Wonder, he can still attempt to cycle ambient anam. He may cycle at a location not strong in anam and gain an amount of anam equal to his WIT that is appropriately aspected.)

I like the world building done via anam types.

Gah, I ultimately gotta go with this

Much as I'd like for us to get the added utility, especially for Weird Anam Types, it's never going to give us enough for stuff like getting Techs or similar unless the amount involved is incredibly small. With this, we go from 2 anam per day to 3, 4 when we raise Emp again with Shatter. This gives us way more ways to use anam over a week, since we can do things like dumping our core into something or go all out with techs. And it'll take until our capacity is at 36 for our regen/Core ratio is made equal again (I.e. needing 9 Days for a full charge).

[X] Added Utility. (When Kong Zhi is not at a Natural Wonder, he can still attempt to cycle ambient anam. He may cycle at a location not strong in anam and gain an amount of anam equal to his WIT that is appropriately aspected.)

Additional push to explore.

Good stuff. Happy we managed to finish the charm, or make progress on it depending on which way we go.

All of those people are not only wrong, they are boring. Why should you commit to paper what your heart is guiding you towards with every beat? That would just waste valuable time that you could be using to actually bring your charm into existence.

You are on the right path. There is no need for further planning- there is only instinct.
Yes, planning out important projects are for boring people. Better to leave it all up in the air. I'm sure an outside observer would be appalled. And now I finally understand why other charmcrafters look at the Kongs side-eyed, especially considering the valuable material he was using.

Charm may be infused or further work may be done to improve the final product!
No, no, you should begin the infusion now. You want the work to be flawless, but you also want to put your charm into action sooner rather than later. But wait- you are going to be using this charm for quite some time. Should it not be utterly without fault? But perhaps it already is?

You stop and shake your head, stepping away from your workbench for the first time in what feels like days. You will need to think long and hard on how you will proceed with your charm- and you can take some time before giving it that thought. Better to let the mania that accompanies your work fade. It's not like you have a shortage of tasks that need your attention.
A discussion to be had for the next week plan vote I guess. Though if people are in favor of DD then we need to understand that we will have to commit to spending at least another 3+ actions on the project for a couple more weeks. The only thing worse than doing a DD on a crafting project is choosing to continue working on it and only throwing one or two actions towards it per week and causing the expected completion of the project to balloon further down the line.

You make it to the Second in short order and, after making sure that there is still no sign of the Auroch's Skull, you drop down in your customary position and begin to cycle.

Technique Upgraded: Shatter the Mirror!
Those were some really nice rolls there. Glad we kept working on StM. We made some really good progress here.

Again, time rushes through you, playful and exuberant. Again, shadows of what might have been and what may still be play out around you, flickering in the corners of your mind. Brief snatches of thoughts not your own skim across the surface of your mind. Sensations of burning heat, of a warm embrace, of slick fingers, of joyful laughter- all of them seem to pulse through your body without leaving a single trace.

Each sensation seems bound to one, specific fragment of the mirror. Perhaps if you focus on one of them, more will occur? You narrow your focus and try to block out everything except the sound of laughter…

...oh. You are laying down now. When did that happen?

You push yourself back to your cycling position and even out your breathing once more. What just happened? You were attempting to focus on one of the myriad sensations that Shattering the Mirror brings into being in hopes of making a breakthrough with the technique. You must have done something wrong. You close your eyes and try-

...this stone is far more comfortable than it has any right to be.

Alright. That is quite enough of that. You leverage yourself back to your feet and release your breathing technique. You are on to something, you know it, but whatever it is does not seem to agree with you right now. Perhaps with more anam to fortify your mind?
Though I am a bit confused on what happened here. Did Kong Zhi sort of attempt to connect to other versions of himself? That is the best guess I have. That the different sensations and feelings where parallel versions of himself. A bit creepy tbh.

How do you choose to improve the Kong Family Cycling Technique?
[] Added Utility. (When Kong Zhi is not at a Natural Wonder, he can still attempt to cycle ambient anam. He may cycle at a location not strong in anam and gain an amount of anam equal to his WIT that is appropriately aspected.)
[] Greater Efficiency. (Kong Zhi is far more used to manipulating his own anam than he once was. He no longer suffers from the 10% penalty towards combat techniques inherent to the Kong Family Cycling Technique.)
[] Enhanced Recovery. (Kong Zhi's breathing technique now bolsters his core, increasing it's own productivity. Kong Zhi's EMP is doubled when calculating anam regeneration rate.)
Gonna have to think on this a bit more. They are all useful in some way, but I am leaning more towards enhanced recovery.
