The Path Unending (A Cultivation Quest)

[X] This creature is too pathetic to kill, and likely doesn't mean any direct harm. It wants a tool for digging, and you can provide that. Take one of your emergency steel ingots and use Chui Dao to form a trowel and offer it in trade

Fighting right now risks the tools. They're mundane so they can easily snap in the scuffle.

And other thing: what if we do a crime without even knowing about it?

The boar is practically sapient, stupid ok, but he knows how to talk and recognize civilization things (use of tools to work and "diplomacy"). It wouldn't be strange if he is close or on the right path for ascension. Two of our elders are ascended (the lizard and the tree), and they are respected as Artists. So... the boar isn't one too? What if we do a really big shit because we wanted to help Fatty desestress?

I am probably just thinking too much and in a really absurd way, but it can happen.
That's a very good point.

@Vesvius Is it illegal to kill an almost ascended Spirit Beast? I doubt Kong Zhi was too busy crafting to learn basic laws.

Sweet! Pig mats are allowed! :D

We could probably make a truffle detector for Ming Hui.

Truffle Duster (Pig/Wind)
A feather duster looking charm that uses whatever Pig mats we get in conjunction with the Turkey Feathers. It can smell truffles on the wind and shakes the feathers in their direction.

[X] This creature is no great power. Ming Hui seems to have the right idea. You will engage the creature in combat both to retrieve the tools and to see what kind of interesting things you can harvest from it in the aftermath.

-[X] Ask how it obtained the utensils. If a disciple disposed of them and it found them then...you'd just have to track that disciple down for some education.

Relationship with Ming Hui is more important.

I feel like murderhoboing this sprit beast. Maybe I'm tired and uncharitable.

We don't have anything on us right NOW that we can trade to it, do we? Anyway, bed for me.

Yeah, this is good.

Thinking meta wise given this is a pig digging for something, is there any chance it's looking for mushrooms or truffles? This would make narrative sense given this is part of Ming Hui's storyline and could provide him great benefit in the future if he can trade with it.

It likely is. But we can also use the mats we harvest from it to make him a simple gift charm that can achieve the same thing without having to ask him to make nice with something that stole his grandmother's gift.

No costly duels.
