Because hey, stealth worked once, and also the shi outfits are very snazzy. Also yujin-sama very cool, though no way we'd be in her division.

Ehh, Lily wants the money, so I'm thinking that a specialized office is the way to go. And, given our preference for fortitude, probably one based around protection rather than combat, distortions, or assassinations.

The high income will really help Lily get her feet under her and get the equipment needed to be an excellent fixer. The mid-level experience is also nice.

No. We don't pick Shi or Zwei.

Zwei is the first Office to get annihilated by the Library and Shi gets fucked over the Blue Sicko and, once again, dies to the Library.

So if you want our employment to short and dead, then by all means pick them.

Yeah, your money is your powerlevel as much as your actual experience is. You don't want to be a Clerk for any longer than you have to be.

[X] Specialized Office. These are Fixer Offices who fill in those niche needs. Sometimes, it's more general, like protection, or warfare and such – but at times, it's more specific like dealing with Distortions, or… well, now that you think about it, they're not that different to the other Offices. They tend to be on the smaller side though, strong, and comes with the benefit of being individual. Mid Experience Gain. High income in Equal Cuts depending on Jobs. Quality over Quantity. Cool senpais. Somewhat specialized. Special Equipment.
-[X] Protection

So this gives us high income which seems to one of Lily's primary motivations. The mid experience gain is nice, making sure we can get stronger. Also, given the quality of characters so far, I am interested in who the cool senpais will be. The mystery box calls to me.

I choose protection for several reasons. First, sometimes when you have a protection job you don't have to do anything but sit there and look tough. Getting paid for not doing anything seems right up Lily's alley. It might not happen often given the city, but it's definitely something I think Lily would be interested in. Second, Lily is tough. Holding your ground until reinforcement comes is a good quality for protection jobs.

One specific branch of both the zwei and the shi get got.

One branch is not the entire org.

That aside, I'm guessing if we failed to score a hit, we'd just be forced into the Low-Grade Office? But by actually pinking Ran (If only a flesh wound), we got our pick of the "Actually good career prospects?"

Yeah. By 'losing', you'd actually get the option to go Solo Office instead, which is... not a great idea for a lot of reasons. You could still have an Association-Affiliated Office, but the option would be limited to one instead.

Nice.

Does seem that this was a good batch though, everyone seemed to get a tag aside from the nest kid who was too scared to shoot while it was a furball (And thus lost his opportunity to score a hit), right? (And thus, also proving why ranged weapons are a gimmick in The City. They're only amazing if you're using them in support of a bigger crew and you're dealing with hypertech weapons instead of a normal revolver)

(And Merry got a pity half-point for having the balls to be the Object Lesson it seems?)

No the entirety of Shi got annihilated. Not just a Branch. Cause the Blue Sicko sent every Section they had out to fight random Distortions consistently. He did it on purpose.

You might be right about Zwei though. But there is no guarantee we won't be put in their Branch, or forced to clean up after them to keep our org's reputation up.

The middle-ground option is best option here.

To be honest I am not that interested in assassinations. It's not like the Shi are actually going to trust us with any jobs right off the bat, assassination jobs are jobs that given to people they trust. Not fresh meat like Lily. We would likely be given support roles for quite a while and that just doesn't seem interesting to me.

Also, does seem like it was the right call to go for a flank. Taking her head on was just one of those Famously Bad Ideas looking at her numbers. While flanking her had a 40% chance to work and all but guaranteed a tag because she didn't get an opposed roll thanks to it.

Min was basically overthinking it. He did shoot before the fight ended, but by then, it was too late by then. With Merry, yeah -- that, and being personable/charismatic helps.

This seems like a decent enough start to our career.

Wonder if we'll ever come across any of the others again after this.

Cool Girl: Unlikely. She'll either make it to an Association or get put in another Office.

Hooded Man: I'm imagining he'll fall in with the Stray Dogs so...he's probably dead.

Merry: As long as that kid doesn't get too stupid with his decisions, he's the one I expect to get farthest. In fact, I'm at least 60% sure he's gonna become a Distortion.

Min and Alexis: They dead meat. Min might be from the Backstreets, but it's pretty clear he doesn't know that bullets and guns aren't equalizers in the City while Alexis is a Nest Girl. They might make it through luck or learning from their mistakes, but they're currently the least likely to survive out of all of us.

Wonder what Alexis did to get two points cause that implies she has actual skills. Not that it would help much given how she seems easily scared and wants to stick next to Mr. Deadweight Min.

I'm one of those weirdos that prefers the Low Grade Office. It seems like a good way to get the experience needed to find our niche while staying under the radar of the more dangerous sorts. We would have an unsteady income but well... an unsteady income is still a major improvement over what we had. We can advance to something better once we have the experience for it.

[X] Low Grade Office. You're familiar with these kinds of Office. In fact, there's one close to your Apartment, and the Fixers who bother to do patrols aren't what you would consider the best. They take all sorts of jobs, and well… yeah. High Experience Gain. Unsteady Income. You're considered expendable. Generally, you're on your own. Large team. No specialization. Takes all sorts of jobs.

I of course did not roll for every character in this combat -- just Merry for a personal trial run, and Lily for the real run. What actually happens is that Cool Girl and Hood Man got a hit in when you hit Ran. In return, Cool Girl got a good hit into her solar plexus... which may, or may not have done some inner damage, hence the blood vomits. Meanwhile, Hood Man got an axe kick.

This is followed by a chain-sorta-reaction with Merry coming in for her first hit. Ran puts her down, and this is where Min shoots. Of course, Ran smartens up, and doesn't get hit. She goes after him, but Merry launches herself over, and manage to get another hit in to distract Ran from Min. That's when Ran essentialy grabs her, and slams her to the ground. The rest is history.

Nice nice. We set off a series of dominos then. Also, I doubt Ran is going to forget this, getting ambushed by a rookie than being distracted enough by it to allow three more hits in. If this is recorded her office is probably laughing their guts out.

Huh, seems Alexis has some skill.

If she dumps that deadweight Min she might have a chance around here. As is, unless these two got hit with some of the Light and thus can be honest with themselves, he's probably gonna start blaming and taking advantage of her to cover his fuck ups.
