We Will Never Die: Rebooted (A Halo Spartan Quest)

It's funny how we can commit Mind-Rapes and Purges and STILL can genuinely say that we are the Good Guys here.
Goes to show how fucked up the UNSC, ONI, and the UEG are when it comes to this bullshit.

Yes, a semi traumatized super human child soldier, is the pinnacle of morality in this galaxy.
It for the greater good for real now and we're anti hero's no one is pure good
While Correct, we are more of an anti villian then an anti hero.

We aren't really doing anything out of the goodness of our own heart... just cold logic and memes.

That's...fearful makes me think that we will become a enemy to the entire human race like how John was but this time there's no one to chase after but just finishing your goals
... Welll why would we do that, when we basically control it already?

In a shadowy, not so controllable evolutionary way?

Or your own poor decision making.
Or we can do it, because it would be fun.
Like c'mon, going full Cortana against the entire galaxy... it would be fun. The only problem is we are also a filthy meatbag.
We need to get training on cybernetics and robotics and sacrifice our disgusting rotting cadaver to the Machine God! And probably create HK-47 droids, even if we don't join the Blessed Machine Cult, they would be put to good use with Halsey in charge.
By The way do the Spartans can even die of old age at this point? After all those augs it should not be possible honestly.
And is Cortana going to appear in this quest? With John or someone else?

Our brothers show that steel, in this continuity, need not be stronger or sharper than flesh. We are still a thing of technology, but technology such as the Precursors would recognize. Macros running under the universe's skin, exploiting or making loopholes in the great cosmic rules as to how reality and matter should behave. Flesh that would rewind itself together from all but ashes, skin that could bathe in nuclear hellfire, minds that can dream five sided triangles into being and have it be real, the ability to step outside of physics such that relativity itself has no grasp on the traveler. Each of us carries a tiny shard of the divine.

This is a universe that would cause the Mechanicus to lose their faith.

Do you want the long answer or the short answer?
And is Cortana going to appear in this quest?
Yes.
With John or someone else?
Spoilers.

Also Light did some shit back in the day and considers cyberdization a last resort option to save humanity.

Probably involving orbital rings around co-rotating black holes in galactic nuclei, woven out of cosmic strings and extracting monolithic amounts of energy out of the resulting gravitational shear. "Engines of the Final Night".

Once you get to the level of technology he is steeped in, technology stops looking like technology.

Pretty much... but the fact that such a man could create all that in his long lifetime says something about humanity and its collective unconscious and will to survive that can make even the man himself fear what he's seen.

Pretty much... but the fact that such a man could create all that in his long lifetime says something about humanity and its collective unconscious and will to survive that can make even the man himself fear what he's seen.
And the nature of humanity. A human's sense of self is not designed to last more than our three score and ten and, to go further, you need to start redefining what it is to be human. Even within our own limited lifespans perspective becomes strange, as seen when you compare how a child perceives the passage of time versus how someone retirement age does. Does an immortal drown in memories, do his earliest ones stay set in stone while later ones need to be more and more dramatic to be engraved into long term memory at all, does he choose what to remember, are recent memories crisp and clear while older ones... and eventually almost all would be 'older'... become treated as statistical abstractions? Or is the answer something that society, as of 2020, can not even conceive of.

Even biological form flows like a liquid over that sort of scale, even barring humanity's fated love affair with helping the process along. Ten million years ago a 'human' was Rudapithecus.

In ten million years we will probably be starting our march to some unholy degree of speciation such as seen in the 'All Tomorrows' speculative documentary piece. And that was a degree of bodyhorror worthy of legend, with human descendants as the equivalent of asymmetric ocean flounder on high gravity mud flats... who later re-engineer to do just peachy in normal gravity again while keeping almost no human aesthetics at all. And that work was conservative in its predictions of morphological possibility.

I always thought (and this is a copout answer), that Light just... forgets everything good, and only focuses on his regrets, seeing as no one will care about all the good he's done.

And only through a mind of a child, does he realize that he had a worthy life, and at least partially, thinks that the child he inhabited will be a worthy successor.

Let me put it to you this way...

Light made Humanity the Apex Predator of his universe... by complete accident.

His response to that, was to literally deevolution his ow spieces by a million years, and removed their sense of violence... their ability to fight amongst themselves.

And it didn't work, be a generation later, humankind jumped over five hundred thousand years in the evolutionary tree by just doing one thing...

Remembering. That was all it took, to make man become monsters.

Remembering...

Some would even call it...

Reclaiming the Mantle they had lost. You see where I am going with this,
