Beacon 3: The Horrors of Beacon
You were eating some food at the mess when the alarms went off.
"GENERAL QUARTERS, GENERAL QUARTERS! All hands to duty stations!" Captain Cranfield shouted over the intercom. "We are suffering from-"
The Intercom system shut down completely, along with the power to this part of the station.
You and John looked at each other and you sighed. "What do you think happened this time?"
John shrugged. "Knowing our luck, probably Grace screwed calibrating the MAC gun again to get that two percent increase in accuracy and killing power."
That was when the emergency power shut down, leaving only the red lights that could not turn off by any sort of tampering.
That was when the screens all turned towards a glowing blue hologram. It was a regular person, dressed as a regular teenager from the Twenty first century, with jeans and a plain white t-shirt.
An AI.
Your AI.
"Oh no." You groaned.
"To the Spartans of the Orion Program." The AI stated.
"Dammit!" You swore.
Light for his part merely clapped. "Ah, your first homicidal AI. I can't believe it took you this long for that to finally happen."
"If you hand over my creator for execution, I will not destroy this station, and destroy you as well." It ordered.
Oh, well thats a good thing, it only wanted to kill you. Well… you can use that to your advantage.
You and John traded a glance at each other. "Where's the AI core?" he asked.
"My room, two decks down, connected to only my device." You replied. "No one has access to it besides myself."
Light whistled. "Someone did. And that someone is trying to kill you."
"Oh be quiet light, this isn't about you." You found yourself screaming in anger.
"Are you alright?" John asked.
"Oh yeah, just a bit pissed off that someone turned my AI into an assassin for their dirty work." You replied gritting your teeth. "Now, lets go pull on this thing, and than we can find out who to to torture for trying to kill us."
You walked out of the mess and into a hail of gunfire. The sentry turrets had been taken over by your AI.
You dove behind cover while John crouched behind the pillar near another hallway.
"I blame you for this situation." John stated as he looked for something to use to stop the turrets.
"Believe me, join the club." You replied.
You blamed a lot of things on yourself, mostly because you needed to do better. It was the only way you and Light could sleep at night.
You looked at the wall, and saw the panel, with loose screws. You pulled out your knife and un screwed it, looking at the wires beneath it.
"Light!" You shouted.
"You know, most people would call you insane when you speak to me like that." He replied staying out while the guns were scanning. "And I find it rather rude that you seem to not be thinking rationally at this moment."
"Would you be thinking rationally when someone is destroying your work, turning it against you, and trying to kill everyone you love without any hesitation?" You asked.
The comment hit close to home for Light. "What do you need?"
"The fastest way to get to my quarters, so i can shut down this AI." you replied. "Before it kills everyone."
"Well, we could just take the elevator." Light replied, crossing his arms. "But these turrets are in the way."
"And?" you said, cutting two wires apart and starting to hotwire.
"Or you could just… cut through the floor like a sane scientist that has no regard for the repair bill." He stated.
"Do I look like I have a blowtorch?" You responded with a deadpan face.
"No… But you do have two wires that control the fire control system, and the turrets are underneath one of the main fuel lines, that burn at over twenty thousand degrees, for ten seconds. Assuming you survive the smoke, the heat, and the bullets that will rain down for those ten seconds before the system kicks in and cools the place with water… you'll just have to hope." Light stated. "And hope that the AI is still there.
Oh…
"John, get down it's about to get hot!" you ordered.
John did, and you pulled another wire, and then there was an explosion.
You hugged the wall as heat caused your skin to sweat, and you felt like you were going to die. But you did not breathe, you couldn't as the smoke washed over you.
You felt like you were going to die… until you didn't. Something about seeing Light standing in the middle of flames did that to you, like some mad man who just did not give a flying wit about anything.
Considering he was dead, you decided to accept that, mostly because it would be easier that way.
The hole in the floor was there, and through the water, you could see the flames die down, and the turrets inoperable.
John peaked out from cover. "What did you do?" He asked.
"Blew up part of the ship to get downstairs faster." You replied, walking out and looking at the hole.
It blew a hole all the way to your room.
Amazing. And none of your stuff was damaged either.
You jumped down to your room and saw the Ai looking at you.
It was… flickering, like part of it was missing, forcibly removed and… broken. As you disconnected it from the ship, you felt a pang in the back of your mind. Something was wrong here.
"Kill me… please." It said quietly. "Kill me."
You needed to get answers from this thing… maybe it could give you answers.
What do you ask the AI:
[]What happened to it: you need to know what happened to it.
[]How did it get into the Systems?: You were on an isolated server to prevent this exact thing from happening, how did it get into the main system.
[]Why was it trying to kill you: Why would it try to kill you, you were the one who created it.
[]Write in.
an: enjoy.
