[X] King and Court

Definitely my favorite option so far, but I can live with any of them winning.

@Rihaku thanks so much for laying out Hunger characterization in such a clear manner given the talks about it.

Man, getting OaF after Teas will not only have natural synergy with 0.6 Rank, but we also get King of Winter for FREE.

Damn that's good.

Also, Rihaku, would purchasing WDS for that 0.2 Rank be a relevant increase? That should put our overall Bloodcasting at 9.875.

Anyway, if this had to be our philosophy, we might as well delegate the actual part of ruling to someone who specializes at it and who will actually keep our subject's interest foremost in mind. So Adorie is an good pick. The only way forward is to Go Through.

Preliminary vote count?

Is it actually wise to value one's subjects over the general populace of the universe, however? There are some who would say that a king has a duty to those he rules; others, that his duties are to all humankind!

Urg, hate the characterization, was everything I feared it would be, god, can we never escape Nameless's shadow?

I honestly dont know what to vote for here, not a fan of any of these combinations, I'll have to think on it, a lot.

will overshoot your stats, meaning that enemies your peer in Rank will tend to have higher stats - an Armament all full power has not only tremendous Rank but also incredible stats backed by the greatest bio-engineering that the Foremost could achieve at scale. They are also armed to the teeth with strategic-level weaponry appropriate to a star-faring civilization of ten thousand systems.
By the way, @Rihaku -- sorry to bug, but I'm having some trouble parsing the intent here. Is this intended to be a negative (e.g. we should expect that with high Rank we will face peers in Rank that we would not have otherwise fought) or a note for the thread (to set expectations appropriately)?

Hey, King and Court de emphasizes this characterization, potentially putting us on a better path (and, if nothing else, certainly avoiding that of Nameless).

[X] Eye of the Storm

Going with this for now, but please, please, please let us all just consolidate on a single Tower option if King and Court starts winning.

[X] King and Court

Chains and the resulting characterization is so disgusting, I can't even. All my hype has been burnt away in the course of one vote and left only a miserable pile of SALT in its wake. RIP Hero Hunger, consumed by the truly infinite greed and gluttony of this thread. I guess people just really loved Nameless.

Having lost Once and Future II, my freaking Scars of Myth and any decent attitude towards Rulership, I'mma vote whatever now. Down with MaegGang though, I have no interest in ever investing in Evening Sky again if stuff like Chains of Fate and pushing all responsibility to other people is gonna be the thing the thread wants Hunger to do. Consequences and responsibility too scary, too much difficulty to be a true King, too much trouble to be a Hero.

If we start cutting Vengeance out of Hunger's character and don't repay the Hidden Ones for every single drop of blood spilt in their infinite hubris, I won't even be mad. Disappointed but expected given the thread choosing not to follow through with the Fates in EFB.

(this is a post sponsored by the S A L T S O C I E T Y and a cadet Gang I've just created as its new head, the AestheticAssociation which mourns the loss of Runes of Mastery + Once and Future (Rune King) dearly indeed. rip in pepperoni, too good for this sinful thread)

Hunger does not see kingship or official station as imparting any especial duties towards the ruled; rather, he continues to be propelled by his existing values, without any additional loyalty to his subjects beyond those dignities he would extend to any populace. This is not to say he is a demanding taskmaster, or that he sees people themselves as only means to an end; merely that he sees the position of King as no different to his powers derived from Blade or Mantle - tools of purpose that exist to enact his designs.
Just to be sure, this is... a lesser degree of not-giving-a-fuck than you might think on the first read;

even if he doesn't feel any special obligations to the people as a King
he still treats them as a hero would
it's the position itself that's a means to an end
not the kingdom
Hunger is still the guy who rushed off to save Elixir Sovereignity, put forward effort to fix Moon Temple and choose Royalists over Tyrant during this section of his adventure.

I genuinely like all of these options and, since I'm not the one being ruled by Hunger, am quite happy with how he treats nations as kinda bullshit.

Hmm. On the one hand, King offers no moral quandary, on the other Storm gives us a ton of value and ever valuable Apo Mitigation.

Choices, choices, choices.

[X] All Under Heaven

Once and Future I
+ The Opalescent Tower [48 Arete]

Think this makes the most sense; we'll be well-prepared for Bearic and get some amazing utility with which to face our imminent problems. I don't want to commit Companions slots to mercenaries or face the complications of recruiting Adorie and having so many companions. With lots of companions, we can't offer them protection like we can with few.

[X] King and Court

The best option by far. It give Aobaru some survivability, which is key because if he goes down as a result of chains shit gets bad fast. As it is an assassin sent to gank Aobaru might be near impossible to stop, with Vanguard to protect against that and an upgraded ranked Aeira we could hopefully foil things like that.

Remember Companions with Chains gives some mental and social stats as well.

Eh, I like the characterization. Kingship is nothing special. He will treat his people the same way he treats everyone else. He's an Hero, so he will treat them well, just see his previous actions. I rather like the lack of worthless tribalism.

If anyone wants an in depth discussion on what makes a good king refer to episode 11 of Fate/Zero. You have 3 different philosophies being argued against each other. A king is Authority, a king is an Ideal and a king serves the People.
A king of the People does not win
