Arch-Demon's Eternal Game: Aeon Edition, The Turtle Chronicles

Current commentary on different things:

Re hailcapital:
I'm with -Rosen on this one. The first point is the stats post. It might not be that helpful yet but it's shown effort for town. Shadell is right that it's an effort post that scum could do as well. Emphasis on COULD. Anyone could do this yet up to now I've only ever seen town putting so much effort into something early on. It's kind of an expectations thingy? Scum puts probably more effort into their own QT early on than doing so much work in the thread.
It boils down to expected behaviour. Something similiar is a newbie getting so stuck on something D1 they get killed for it. See Dawiusz in Star Wars or UnderlingMaster(?) in Game of Crows.
Meaning everyone could get that riled up but as of yet I still have to see scum blow up that spectacularly.
So hailcapital gets a slight townlean for today additionally to the newbie protection.

I think this is a pretty dishonest way to characterize my post and my play, I'm on mobile, so I'm writing out what I'm looking at all in one place so that i can consider it as a cohesive whole. I also didn't come away with a scum lean on Ondine and everyone else null, I have a town lean and two scum leans. Ondine is the most productive scum lean to push.

My scum lean on Ondine was slight coming off reading through the discussion, but their behavior here firms it up IMO. This could be town getting frustrated and misreading or mischaracterizing based on that, but I don't think town gets that frustrated over a slight scum lean.
Second part first:
Oh, my sweet summer child.
From my experience actual alignment and frustration/fallouts/... are completely unrelated.
This leads me to

Re Ondine:
First off, I'd say Ondine's sometimes a bit hotheaded. So her going after you or -Rosen for mischaracterization is rather on par IMO.
What I find a bit strange is the supposedly OOC behaviour? If I read her right, she didn't say: "Go away with your mech-solving" but rather "Go away with it for now since it's a start but nothing more with our current info". Which has its merits.

@hailcapital, since you mentioned it. Who is your second scum lean?

Additional stuff in a second post...

Additional thoughts, but mostly short and in the moment

Sooo, I see what Nictis is doing and what he wants to achieve... Which is rather NAI as always.

I see BB doing her usual thing (from what I've seen from her). I like her usual thing in general but the last time I saw it, she was scum...
@Cyricubed, you know her better than me. Is there anything particularly AI from her yet?

Honestly "town please don't claim without very good reason" was the main thing I really wanted to touch on. If you're in a situation where you need to claim, keep in mind that it's very possibly also a situation where you'll die shortly thereafter. There could definitely be situations where that's a good exchange, but reckless claiming off items or abilities is something that could really get us in trouble fast if we don't clamp down on it.
This was about the Blade/Doll stuff. Was that all you wanted to talk about for the case scum has both or is there more?

And a little bit more probing to finish this.
@Scia, what do you make of hailcapital for now? Is he acting to find scum or is it mostly performative?
@Reliable_2IC, not an easy one but I don't have much else, sorry. What do you get from these number of posts by Nictis? 1 2 3 4
What does he want to achieve with them? Do they help you to get an impression of him?

ngl, I'm getting some scum!ondine vibes from the interactions with hail and rosen.

An unfathomable gambit, bowing out of the game without causing disruptions, stirring up controversy to generate more discussion? A desire to make their trial look like a suicide? Who knows.

Could you elaborate on this @Byzantine ? What's made you think Nictis isn't scum?
Nothing has made me think he is, and I'd prefer to vote someone I have at least a slight scum read on. ...which I wish I had but so far everything seems town v town, except that swarming thing, but I'm holding off judgment on that since he was clearly on edge, regardless of his side.

I am intending to locate a replacement for swarmingu and maybe another player, however, if I am unable to find them by the end of this day phase I will have to modkill them.

I am very frustrated and tired. I keep saying a thing and then the response to it is you said this other thing! And now I'm too focused on mech because I was focused on a person who was focused on mech? Jesus.

The best thing I can do I think is just step away from that conversation for now because it's going in circles and making me furious and I don't want to leave Comi with another slot to fill. So.

Why did you choose those four items in particular @Nictis ?

My thoughts:

Battle wand: KP is good. You need to have a good idea of who to use it on though.

Exchange: Seems like a last ditch choice because you use it and then it's gone and you have the random item someone else had which might not be useful to you.

Telehat: Seems most useful for survivors. Otherwise it's like a half working alignment cop.

Eagle mask: Idk which is better, watching or tracking. I think they're both useful. The important thing is being able to use the knowledge you get.

I think that's the takeaway with any item. It depends on who you are and how capable you are of using the items right.

Ah. I thought you were saying you had a town lean or read on them, not just that he seemed as towny as average. If you don't mind then, could you give me what they've said has made you think of them?

A mistake, but one made intentionally, influenced by something like three different chats and a misreading of rolecards. Different circumstances.

Here we're talking about seeing people slip up in the discussion of what is likely to be in the game, and Freedom Fighters can only really confirm the existence of the Human Knight.

I don't really expect much of anything to come from this, I just also don't really see what info we have to be worried about humans leaking.

And I just realized I'm getting sucked into mech talk. This is what I'm talking about.

So, new thing. I'm gonna ask people to give their thoughts on items.

Battle Wand, Exchange Token, Telehat or Eagle Mask. What do people like more and why?
Battle Wand allows for killing when there normally wouldn't be any killing, by town or scum. Town can use it in self-defense, but scum could pretend a kill was town-on-town.

Exchange token feels like one of those "I'm a genius! beat Oh no!" items where you either succeed magnificently or screw up royally. High risk, high reward in a sense.

Telehat is a tossup. Anti-possessed is rather niche, but if you successfully convince everyone of the results it would snap up a lot of people going under the radar.

Eagle Hat let's you see what players are up to and get a front row seat to gruesome killings. Alternatively, if you think you have a confirmation on who's what you can track them to see for certain.

Overall, I'd have to say the Eagle Hat. You have reliable ability that caters well to educated suspicions and hunches, and a final ability to put the nail in the coffin.

And this ruins the joke but bleh, I'm fine with taking it easy for the first day.

[X] Null

Could you expand on this a little bit? What feels scummy about it? Or is it just a gut reaction?
It's mostly gut. The feeling I was getting from reading her stuff while at work kinda reminded me of when she was scum, and on the hail side it almost felt like gatekeeping to be honest?

... Alright, that's enough of that. Twenty-four hours remaining, the top wagon is potentially getting modkilled, and all the other votes are vanishing. I am going to vote for someone who is voting null. Either pick someone to vote or vote No Lynch if you don't want me voting you.

[x] Vote Byzantine
@Byzantine

Oh joy, picking a vote Day 1, the most fun part of the game.

@Wiadi is voting me, so I might as well return the favor.

[X] vote Wiadi

They took a relatively basic statement about trying to identify scum by looking for TMI and tried to turn it into a plot to get townies to leak information.

I recognize this is hardly more substantial than the basis on which Wiadi voted me, but that's day 1 for you. My other scum read is Nictis, but it is a gut read and I have learned by now that my gut is just useless when I try to gauge his play.

For what it is worth, I wasn't especially scumreading swarmingu before they flamed out. I don't think anything they said was out of line for an enthusiastic townie. Doesn't mean they weren't scum, but trying to read an interest in solving the set up is pretty flimsy as a basis for a read. I don't know if they are getting replaced or modkilled, though, so I don't know if this will matter at all.

Thanks, and I'll take your and other people with more actual experience than me into consideration on this. I still like having my vote on Ondine- two votes isn't exactly hugely dangerous in a nineteen person game, and I think at least that level of suspicion is warranted.

The second lean is Swarmingu's slot. Like my lean on Ondine, this wasn't particularly strong, it's mostly that he brought the whether or not mech is good discussion back up when it looked pretty much over with. If he was still in the game I'd have voted for them over ondine. This isn't a productive place to push right now, but if they get replaced I will be scumleaning whoever replaces them.

I'm just kinda wondering right now how town v town this really is though, the nature of having two opposing scum teams leads me to wonder if there is some scum v scum going on here. I actually don't like people posting about town v town stuff because they're glossing over that point a lot. I'm not sure how tight of a thing that people chasing tails is compared to normal.

Relevant for what and why?

Nictis is probably fishing for probabilities/how people would of used the later picks. It's a set of less 'interesting' items that probably are glossed over by the early picks in favor of the more big ticket flashy and powerful items.

I'm kind of uncomfortable disclosing more of my thoughts on this line as it gets very close to more uncomfortable amounts of info leaking - at least this much can be obfusciated and the trend in picks is fairly easy to reason out assuming you aren't in approximately the first 3-4 picks.

...well I was considering switching my vote but getting OMGUS'd over it is making that look like maybe not the best idea. Anyone else wanna weigh in on how this looks for meso from the outside?

Hm. Assuming this is true, it feels like it might end up with people effectively leaking their pick order, which doesn't feel like a very pro-Town thing to do. @Nictis care to justify?
