Magical Girl Home Base Quest

That is fair, both are useful. I am just concerned that workshop will get sidelined again in following voting cycles as it was in the last few. All for valid reasons, but it starts adding up.
OK, but we are smacking head first into our population limit right now. If not for that specific object-level problem I'd be supporting a workshop upgrade.

And since we no longer have such a problem with our permanent residents traipsing around unequipped, I'm prepared to hold on for a couple of turns while we do multiple turns of upgrading.

Okay do we honestly have any reason to suspect Chris/Erika? Suspicious is an option yes - but so was killing Joselyn, and throwing her out with the implied hint that it was because we thought the girls wouldn't respect us enough not to if she stayed.

[] Keep her in a cleared-out room: she's not inherently a bad person, and the artifact shrapnel in her could lead to some interesting research possibilities.
[] Throw her out: her work here is done, and quite frankly a lot of the girls here have a professional interest in killing her. Their respect for you only goes so far.
[] Kill her: the only good Alchemist is a dead Alchemist.

Notice how the options are divergent?

The vote isn't acting on three different ideas but deciding how we as a character think about the situation.

So if we vote the check suspiciouns option - we are voting to be suspicious.

I ask again - do we have reason to be suspicious? Because frankly we need the extra hands enough I'd be tempted to put her to work immediately and hurry with Calypso to get additional rooms set up to fix the room cap problem with the magical girl newbies being essentially drag netted by the older ones.

I vaguely recall that Homer can't make stuff if we're in the workshop because resonance. And that counts for either making artifacts or upgrading the 'shop. He hasn't had a chance to make stuff in a while either.

[X] [WORK] No, you want to improve your workshop instead.
[X] [CHRIS] Something smells fishy about this; reserve a final decision on the matter until you meet her yourself and send some backup with Mistletoe to go get her.

I mean, I'm not sure if there is anything suspicious but I'd rather Medicine Boy meet her in person before deciding.

Yes for crafting, no for upgrading. Or rather, 'unsure' about upgrading. We do not know whether workshop upgrades block Homer's ability to craft in the library.

We should research the major artifact that heals. We got problems everywhere, in both producing items, and the building, and the workshop, but the biggest problem we got is a bunch of blocked healing tasks. So let's research the major artifact that heals.

Something does smell fishy. If I'm just being paranoid, then maybe Chirs can run the shower and cook? Why didn't Mistletoe offer to have Chris cook or something?

And why is the Sword we sold to Rose Tier 2?
That's what I said. We specifically auctioned off the Tier 3 wand to Rose and the Tier 2 one to Mistletoe. Not too sure about the durability of Trompdoy's new trinket.

As for the vote:

We've haven't worked on the workshop in a while and I think that we should at least check and see if Chris is on the level before we decide to let her in. It doesn't hurt anything to do so and a little caution is reasonable when you're running a base for MGs.

Out if curiosity what smells fishy about this? Mistletoe mentioned her literally weeks ago in quest.

Ferra's not in a good place." Sofia said, wincing. "Her family is divorcing, and both sides aren't well off. She needs to scram before the state takes her in."

The above is from week six. As it is I'm thinking the breakout that Mistletoe is thinking about is from a government home/facility/foster care.

If there's something suspicious that's something to actually work out. If there's not - I want a cook because the morale boost alone is going to be worth it with the warning we've gotten of things going to hell soon.

People keep seeing the wait time as a non-issue if she's clean but it's not if her cooking and being there for showers greases the wheels.

Want to get a bigger kitchen so we can hold more megucas. Next turn I'll support upgrading the workshop.

[X] [CHRIS] You'll let her crash in Mistletoe's room. It'll be tight, but not unsafe.

Having an extra cook will be extremely useful. Plus Mistletoe can keep an eye on her so even if she's secretly the demon queen we'll notice anything suspicious.

Yeah, given the whole uncertainty of "can she contribute enough to not be a freeloader" (since she's not a MG, we can't assume the answer is yes), I'd sorta like a second opinion here. I expect everything's on the level and Sofia's just desperate, but I don't want to have the drama of needing to actively kick someone out if the worst comes to pass.

She did offer that.
"Then bring Chris in, have her-"

Slamming a hand over her mouth, you shot her your most dedicated 'shut the fuck up' look and hissed. "No. Damn. Names."

"Then bring Erika in and have her fucking cook then!" Sofia groaned. "Seriously, she can cook pretty well, and it's not like eating halal will kill you. Plus you can have her play seeing eye dog for Homer when he goes on grocery runs instead of having Calypso do it."

Flashbacks to Oblivion intensify

(Context: the German translation of Oblivion was unusually atrocious at launch, using unnecessarily long names for potions that were then abbreviated to fit on the screen, culminating in the spectacular Schw.Tr.d.Le.en-W., or "Schwacher Trank der Lebensenergie-Wiederherstellung", or as it is also known in non-moonperson German, "Schwacher Heiltrank.")

I had a sneaking feeling my translator was stunting there!

Hm, are we speaking Geiger counter radiation, or magical radiation? Because the latter is something Medicine Boy may know how to screen himself against, but the former, not so much.

There is no 'magical' radiation. This is just something that passively emits about 500 mSv 24/7 whether you want it to or not.

(context: 500 mSv is about half the career-length radiation exposure for a NASA astronaught. Holding this for two hours without shielding would disqualify them from spaceflight. Another interesting point is that after 3 hours when most of the exotic isotopes burned off, the Trinity nuclear bomb test fallout was reading in at roughly 320~ mSv/hr. Perfectly safe... for short exposure.)

@7734 Why is the Trinket we made for Trompdoy listed as lasting 75 weeks? (Should be 3*5*(3+1)=60). And why is the Sword we sold to Rose Tier 2?

Because I updated the sheet last at 4am and typographical errors slipped in.

This is a good question and I've been thinking about it. Because I actually am suspicious, but it's been hard for me to pin down why.

I'm not suspicious of Mistletoe. Sofia is straightforward and not the deceptive type.

I'm not even really that suspicious of Chris/Ferra/ Erika (although the various pseudonyms confuses the heck out of me, I wasn't even sure that Erika and Chris were the same person). Although since we will be essentially hiring her cook as pay for her rent, I would like to meet her before making a final decision, just like I would any tenant or employee.

But something does feel fishy. So I've been thinking about it, trying to figure out what my subconscious is telling me and I think I've finally figured out what is making me wary.

Sofia is very bad at the whole secret identify thing. She constantly uses real names, and doesn't have a very good grasp on why it's important to not leak information. My feeling is that it is very likely that unfriendly powers will have knowledge about Sofia and who she cares about. So while I highly doubt Chris is herself dangerous, I wouldn't be at all surprised it she is being used as bait for a trap.

Sofia is going to have to essentially break her out of a government institution right? I could see someone setting a trap for her. Because it means that sofia would have to go to a certain place, and probaly at certain times, and would be exposed to an attack. Probably carry stuff, not ready for combat. Yeah... I'm fine with meeting Chris and provisionally in favor of accepting her as a cook/tenant, but I'm worried that Sofia has been blabbing to anyone who will listen about how her girlfriend is in a bad situation, and how she needs to get her out of it. The main thing I want is for someone cool headed, who isn't focused on a girlfriend to be there and be backup against the risk of a trap.
