The Morrsley Village Experiment

Day 2 Start
You are all awoken by Professor Cliff's face being projected into your rooms, the man in question saying "Good morning test subjects! Earlier this morning I had the guards check your houses for corpses. You will be sad to hear that TheBiggerFish and Tykan are both deceased at the moment. In the case of TheBiggerFish, they were Shot In The Chest. They were the Test Subject Tracker. Meanwhile, Tykan was Cut To Ribbons by an unknown assailant. They were the Backup Independent Variable. This transmission is now over."

Night 2 starts at

Honestly thanks whoever killed Tykan I was about to shit on him for where he voted anyway. Now I can move to my next EoD guy.

I really just wanna know what your reasoning was to switch back with so little time left in the Day at this point

[X] Lynch Rosen

@Cyricubed is very likely scum (they've consistently claimed test subject after other test subject have revealed details and, just as frequently, offered incorrect details (note the shade of blue. None of these, as Cyri pointed out, could really prove town, but not knowing the full details of actual townie wincon that everyone who was town identified immediately, following every town detail (faction name and color) as soon as it's pointed out and then getting the details wrong or extremely vague every time, definitely add up to likely scum, or at least a 3P faking it in my book.)(

@-Rosen, you jumped from a passive playstyle to attacking me very aggressively on a very flimsy pretext (I'd been scumreading Cyri all day and just jumped from "I could vote this" to confirming with another player who agreed on it, and is very definitely town) as soon as momentum started to build against a very likely scum player. That strikes me as highly suspicious, particularly as Cyri is almost certainly scum and there's probably not many of you.

More significantly, as I confirmed last night, you can night kill. No townies used one last night, but 2 others did, which honestly, if we assume townies and 2 hostile parties, doesn't leave much room for others.

So, I'd suggest you claim now.

Sorry I missed everything before the last night everyone.

Also, RaptorusMaximus I think is pretty likely to be Control Group.
There's a definite impression of someone getting a rules clarification, then realizing nothing they do matters.

I'm wondering if you can explain this rear a bit. Especially what you mean by 'realizing nothing they do matters'.

- RaptorusMaximus: Lack of content, pass for today, drop to scum if kept up the next days, valid town newbie act

90% of the time I just have no idea what to say.

Anyway. It seems that we had 2 Night Killing roles, presumably called Independent Variable and Backup Indipendant Variable. Luckily, it seems Indipendant Variable dealt with one of our problems for us, just leaves them. So we probably have the Test Subjects, Control Group, and IDV. Tho, depending on how things were laid out, Test Subjects might be the minority or close to it depending on how many Control Group there are, since they have already lost 2 players.

The general lack of participation, and 'if I get the lynch I'll vote myself for the memes'.

I also am down for voting -Rosen. I only gave my 'reads' in a panic at the last minute yesterday, but I have had the impression they were trying to pocket me.

Ondine and Shadell both seemed dubious to me. I wasn't on board with either lynch, but it was one or the other. Ondine had insisted on forcing things to that point and had jumped from one wagon to another in a way that seemed opportunistic. Also, see my above indecisive schmucktitude.

I don't know if @Shadell was telling the truth about their role claim or not, but it seems plausible enough that losing a vanilla townie would be preferable, though I didn't see the claim until after I changed my vote, so it didn't play a part in my decision.

Well I'm glad someone listened to me about suspecting the people nodding along.

Can't say I've really bothered to go through Day 1 again in the night, didn't really feel it between IRL stuff and what had happened Day 1.

Hammer is at six.

Backup is a role type that inherits the relevant power of someone that died. Universal Backups inherit the power of the first person to die, Role Backups inherit the power for that specific role, and Scum backups tend to inherit the role of whichever member died first to keep the scum power up.

Considering that he is a Backup, it probably means that Independent Variables are a group. Coloring indicates that they are scum.

@Shadell can be confirmed on their claim. I'm a killing Bodyguard. In other words, I can kill an attacker at night in exchange for my own life. I actually protected Shadell last night, since I assumed if their claim was legit, scum would want to try to take that out of play as soon as possible. Now that he's confirmed that I can kill, I can say pretty confident that I was incorrect on my opinion of him at EoD.

As for why I was pushing you so hard, it was because people were starting to lynch ondine for what you had posted, which I didn't like in the slightest, even if it did look like he followed it directly after you posted it. Given the outcome of the lynch, people didn't agree with me there, but that's whatever at this point.

I'm also still pretty damn confident that Cyri isn't scum but we can agree to disagree at this point. I don't see his "fishing" as such so I can't agree with the push that formed against him.

@InterstellarHobo I mean, when you make a play that should make you Town from Town perspective, of course I'm gonna run under the pretext of you being Town. Asking for your reads is just something I'm trying to follow up on since it's something more to work with for all of us.

So we've probably got a group of "independent variables" (or maybe one and several "back ups") plus whoever our pink slasher is.

I'm trying to figure out the logic that would lead someone to kill specifically Tykan last night. Nothing about their behavior day 1 stuck out to me.

Alright, time to do some analysis on everything that's happened so far.

We know there are confirmed to be three rolegroups as of now, along with Nictis' so far unconfirmed "Control Group" roleclaim.

Confirmed:
Town = Test Subject (either Normal or PR, as seen by the Lynch D1 post and D2 start post)
Scum = Independent Variable (Backup indicating some sort of power inheritance, thus group and having allies)
SK = Unknown Name, Pink/Neon Pink flavor

Not Confirmed:
3P(?) = "Control Group"

With the kill flavor shown, we can assume that the pink/neon pink text is the SK, while the Independent Variable is likely indicating one of the Mafioso.

I listed the Control Group as unconfirmed since we haven't seen any actual evidence besides Nictis' claim, unlike the roles shown in the D2 Start post.

If we take Nictis' claim at full value though, then it sounds like he's a 3P of some sort, likely a mix of Survivor/something else. However, I am not above thinking that Nictis would create a fake role to hide behind early on, but there isn't really anything to back up this theory besides mere speculation, so meh.

On the topic of current suspects, I'll get back to that in a bit. Need to go through some posts before moving forward with anything else. Personally, it feels like we're jumping the gun too fast and too soon.

Also 3/6 votes in under 30 minutes :thonk:
But one of them is from the person you confirmed as gunsmith.

Of course, scum gunsmith is a thing, but given the literal last minute nature of the claim, I am not sure it would have seemed worth bothering to lie about it.

In a game this small it makes sense for a SK to try to target Mafia early imo, since in this case its probably 9/3/1, and with a mislynch and two Town deaths you're immediately at 6/3/1, where the Mafia is already pretty damn close to winning. In this case it would be 7/2/1, which is more manageable for SK I think

If anyone bothers me on this wagon it's Nictis. I'm fine with Shadell's vote since he had the information to warrant it.

I have to admit, the "Control Group" idea is kind of bothering me. Because that name sort of implies a group. And so far no one else has come forward as a member.

I'm a Test Subject, too. I don't think there was much doubt, but I just want to confirm.

Honestly it's probably pressure. Rosen got accused of being a potential killer and was told to make their claim. Everyone is going to back up the known (and now confirmed) gunsmith, so we're currently just waiting to see the response to Rosen's claim.

Personally, I'm going to need to look through Day 1 to compare behavior to claim, and I'm not really feeling it right now.

Maybe? It could be referring to a group, or it could just be referring to the science term. Personally it's looking like I'm flying solo here, but I wouldn't exactly expect anyone else to side with me after Town has openly said it needs them dead.

I mean, I could be a Control Group in that I'm the only person who didn't have their ice cream laced with some kind of aggression raising drug? Maybe this experiment is actually just testing how different flavors of ice cream affect behavior?

I dunno.

>Nictis needs the killing to stop
>Rosen is confirmed as kill capable
>Nictis votes Rosen

Seems sus to me :thonk:
