It says a lot about the job these people are applying to that one of my chief concerns is how good of a personal fighter they are.
Well, it's on Avernus.
Yep, as has been pointed out Avernus is one of the deadliest deathworlds in the galaxy which means most of our population don't live past a few centuries and those that do are some of the deadliest warriors from the population of trained soldiers. The main reason most of our advisors don't die is due to them literally having flat out superhuman combat skill or some serious bullshit that would help them survive living on Avernus. We have our Inquisitor buddy with centuries of experience and he usually isn't on Avernus as much as everyone else due to his job, the Oakhearts who are literally borderline transcendants in combat, some are cyborgs who turned their bodies into war machines to survive Avernus using the best tech, we have several that are insanely skillend and/or powerfuil psykers with some serious bullshit like Aria being part blank despite being a psyker and Ridcully being the greatest human diviner in history and even one of the best among the Eldar and finally we have Lin who is literally the last Saint of the Emperor who has daemon dying just from being in his presence.

So yeah, the main reason most our admin guys keep dying compared to our other advisor roles is that most of them aren't bullshit combat wise unlike the others. Of course Ridcully also helps and it's been outright noted that a lot more of our guys would have died without him and in fact he has pretty much saved everyones ass at least once already.

It's funny that in the Old Imperium many of our administrators would have been considered elite warriors.

Argall seems distinctly disappointing. He has decent Administration but that's about it.

[X] Select Isaac Gros

I like the population growth, as well as the potential for improvements to our medical apparatus.
yeah he was the third option for a reason. If he is still alive in 100 years when the choice next comes up he will probebly be a better option

Anyone else imagining one of our better combat admin people being transported back to the time of the Imperium, emerging in a daemonic Incursion and saving a shitload of people on the front lines, getting pegged as something like a super soldier lost in the Warp guided there by the Emperor, and the assorted hilarity when they find out that they're serious when they say they're just a highly placed administrator? Not super-spy posing as administrator, or administrator turned super spy, just administrator.

Some times while I read the quest I like to think what Would happen if most of the Main cast (the ones that led our options) was transported to turn 1 (if alive at the time) and showing up thanks for fate forcing them to be born once more even against logic saying otherwise.
Because the amount of optimization, power and forewarning. would make some of the turns of the 'first run' Really different.

Plus the rest of humanity (or trust) seeing them doing the impossible every single day would be funny^^. Like the Mechanus, our explorer would be receive by some (heretics) as the second coming of their God. Depending of his choices I mean.

Now I'm really wondering what would happen if our Saint Lin went back to wherever he was the first turn. It's obvious that the Emperor already had an eye on him to select him as a final Saint. If he was to suddenly already be a Saint with a knowledge of the divine that rivals any chaos sorcerer, I am certain the Still-Living-Emperor would do something very very interesting.

I seems like a relatively clear choice. Gros has the best survival chance, some of the best Administration, and some nice secondary skills.

Is there anything we can do to increase our poor admins' life expectancy? In spite of it being expected, they simply drop too soon.

Another comission for a high-tier piece of gear? Something like Chrono-displacer, but focused entirely on saving the poor sods life?
A personal force-field, maybe?
If timed correctly, it could save their lives from everpresent Blink Spiders... or those murderous stairs. I miss Antoni. :(

We can keep increasing combat training and finish the late doctors education upgrades.

If Ridcully eventually dies what would you say to founding an Order specifically to give rerolls to keeping heroes/major government figures alive?

When Nurgle inevitably comes knocking, we need to have the best medical systems we can possibly establish.

...Man, the fact that you're predicting our new admin is only gonna last a century is a bit concerning.
