[X] Deploy twenty-four Guard Armour Groups and two Elite Army Groups - These forces should provide a significant boost to the ground defences, but would lead to replacement issues if massive losses are sustained (50% of all Guard, 20% of all elites) -35% base chance
[X] Support Autarch Amnedor Landeer (75% chance, diplomacy check (DC 70) increase chanced)-You believe that the experience at larger scale conflicts that Autarch Landeer posseses makes him the best high commander.
-[X] Amnedor's experience in coordinating sector-wide war will be the most sorely needed capability in containing the Tyranids.

[X] Propose that Julius commands if the necrons agree to work together, and that Landeer commands if they refuse.

Durin said this was a legit suggestion.

I should mention that Landeer might not be the worst idea even if the Necrons are working with you. While the Eldar are old enemies of the Necrons they are also a group that the Necrons respect to a level. Unlike humans who they view as pretty much infants.

I would go for this one, and it would probably be more likely to win too as it seems more reason-based then any single-vote......but I don't understand what the necron's helping would change however :p

edit, oh, I see...the eldar don't likeie the necron's...

[X] Propose that Julius commands if the necrons agree to work together, and that Landeer commands if they refuse.

even dispite durin's feedback, seems reasonable.

Julius is near-paragon right?

If your primary reason for choosing to lead a war that would decide the fate of the subsector is "for the xp" then that means you should not be leading at all.

Personally I'm just voting for maximum Vanaheimer teeth-grinding when they have to take orders from an Eldar.:V

I wonder what Paragon Macharius had.
Wasn't paragon.

when the xp could give paragon traits that can in turn, turn around the tide of entire battles? I see no reason to say that its not a decent reason.

Citation not from 4900 pages ago would be nice.
Hard to do, I fear most of them come from 2500 pages ago when we were dealing with Garkill for a third time.

So 48-9 martial and we were still in his category.

@Durin
1. Was Macharius a paragon?

Just in case I'm wrong.

Yeah both the OOC reasoning, the fact that there is no "XP" and the fact that people can still earn paragon traits fine because they're still participating in battles I'd say this logic is somewhat flaws.

Paragon traits are not things to be ground out, they happen for important deeds. We don't earn XP towards them.

[X] Deploy eighteen Guard Army Groups and six Elite Army Groups - Write in for reasons explained below (37.5% of all Guard, 60% of all elites) -unknown base chance
[X] Attempt to claim the position yourself (66% chance, diplomacy check (DC 75) increase chanced )- You believe that you would be the best choice as High Commander, and are willing to devote the time that will be needed to fill this position.

Why exactly are we deploying armies to the same world's our fleets are deployed? Forgive me if I'm being stupid, but surely it is possible to hold the tyranids on the ground without seriously contesting space. If we were to say, deploy two elite armies and six guard armies(numbers adjustable) to an already well defended planet it seems reasonable we could hold off deploying the fleet there, use it to beef up our strength in other places and suffer less fleet casualties in exchange for our ground troops taking a bit of a mauling. Given the relative ease of replacement in the timescale we are operating on this seems like a very good trade.

Deploying forces of the scale I suggest let's us fight on three world's without using our fleet, way reducing the amount our forces are stretched.

While in theory the shadow in the warp makes this problematic, we can have the world's we defend on the ground be ones with webway gates so the eldar fleet can relieve them.

Even if we don't deploy in the manner I suggest, I still think we should take at least half of the elites.

Would prefer Julius but he doesn't seem to be in the running.

Unless there's a Webway Gate in the system it's impossible for a fleet to show up later while the Tyranids are still in the system due to the Shadow in the Warp stopping Warp travel. That leaves your forces on the ground, trying to hold cities full of people while the Tyranids consume all the biomass in the countryside, sending it back up the the fleet to make more Tyranids. So no, it's not really possible or even advisable to try to hold the ground side without a fleet working to eliminate the ships that are making more Tyranids.

Reasonable- perhaps it might be more viable on worlds with less biomass.

Consider also what kind of paragon trait overall command of this campaign would give (if we roll really well).

Rotbart is better specialized for single system battles, due to Avernus.

Julius is a SM chapter master. Also not a good fit for a sector wide campaign paragon trait.

Sure, sector wide campaigns will be more and more common, but Landeer is already a good fit for such a paragon trait, it would be better for the galaxy for him to get it then us, and he has been but a minor favor away so far.

Also, we will be commanding in this war too, if on a lesser scale. We do not need sector wide wars to gain Martial paragon traits, Martial is tactics too for example.

Edit: Does anyone think it would be a good idea to use Life Eater Batterys or Bane Wolfs during this campaign?
