Eh, I'm not so sure we're setting up the Merntir for a monarchy.
Monarchy came to the Arthwyd because the priests were seen as weak and ineffective; too focused on beseeching the Goddesses instead of actually taking action. As far as we know (and as supported by your own omake no less :p ) the Merntir priests and elders fought to the last in the defense of their people. It could transition to a monarchy as the reclaimer is hailed as leader and enshrined as such, but I believe it is just as likely for the priests to be put back into power in the Merntir.
Except the Merntir worked for Greenbay's priests, not theirs. They are our people, and they'd still be part of our monarchy.

[X] [Midland] Claim the midlanders as a conquest of the People. (Midlanders become a Vassal of the Arthwyd.)

[X] [Rock] Yes. See if other rocks can produce similar secrets. (-2 Temp Econ, Chance of Innovation)

[X] [Evalyn] South. Assist Cadyn in defeating Urth and his army of the walking dead.

[X] [Refugee] They can return to the Merntir (Refugees go back to the Merntir, lose status Merntir Refugees.)

[X] [Merntir] Food & Warriors. Support the Merntir as best you can by sending both warriors and food to aid them. (-1 Temp Martial & -1 Temp Econ)

I think midlander doesn't work as border state given they recently lost (& thus very low martial ). We need to deny easy resources & staging ground from the undead as well as potentially sources of tech & magic knowledge.

Because we have a bigger problem called 'Ancient Undead Martial Hero aimed at our face' unlike Nomads who only last a generation this guy's only going to stop if somebody puts his head on a spike.
Uh, if we fully reclaim the Mentir lands then we can pivot and bring our full force to one fight. Two front wars suck.

Three front wars are madness

i am going for vassal as that allows us to claim that area and because it gives us a quite big buffer + warning in case someone from the lowlands trys to go for our main civ.
It is also the only option were we help them at all. We are so isolated that we might not even notice them getting over run until we get the refugees.
I also prefer to not allow the undead lich to set up a farm next to our door again.

I think people make the calculus of:
One Martial Hero (Cerwyn) = One Martial Hero (Vorvov's grandson); and
One Martial/Mystic Hero (Lich King) > One Martial Hero (Cadyn)

Therefore, people are seeking to balance the scales than tip it against the Boarfolk. You can make a case that we are overestimating the capability of Lich King to the expense of the Merntir front, but well, we are sending everyone except Evalyn. I'd rather take the setback against the Grandson than against Lich King.

And so the defeatism by the thread proven to be unneeded. Evalyn utterly crushed the midlanders while Cerwyn has seen success against Vasov. Cadyn hasn't been doing too well against Urth, but has been holding the line.
Erm wow, so I guess if you're a civilisation that didn't do a lot of war the best way to git good is to fight a generation long war resisting conquest involving many heros and then have a bunch of starving refugees pick a fight.
So much to do this turn.

Lich King side is...not really finishable? The force projection problems didn't change, so theres time.

Just because our people picked up a zealot trait which compel them to try doesn't change the calculus of not being able to get there in force.

A pivot implies that we can easily and quickly move troops after the war is won. And that we win the war. However cynical it may be this isn't a two front war, the boars won't easily get over the mountains and ship tech is not nearly good enough to carry their mounts.

It's exactly because Lich King Urth is a more permanent threat that we send Evalyn. We need to show to him that he needs to play the waiting game, that he'll leave us for a generation or two simply by virtue of being a tough nut to crack with Evalyn/Cadyn combo. I have faith in Cerwyn (and the dice) that the Merntir territory is reclaimed by her hands.

@Oshha is it about time for a new map?

Maybe once the Epic Age is over and things have settled down. It isn't like you have discovered any new lands.

@Oshha we would treat this vassal as we do all the People, right?

It depends on how things play out.

@Oshha How close are we to getting a hero legacy, or are we past the point where we can? (Or is this too spoilery to answer?)

Maybe one for getting Female Heroes.

Just noticed, the Mertir Hero? Another fucking Woman! Can we please get some Guys in here?! I can taste the estrogen through my screen for Pete's sakes!
Pretty sure @Oshha flips a coin when rolling heroes to determine gender. Its just a case of extremely weird luck that we end up with so many girls.
I wonder if we have a modifier towards women because of our goddesses?

I roll a physical D6 with even for female and odd for male. It is just luck that the People have so many female Heroes while everyone else is getting more male Heroes. For some reason, the People roll up a lot of females while everyone seems to get males.

It has gotten to the point that I am considering giving you a Legacy that makes it easier for you to generate a female Hero.

We have tin and copper already! Need to mix them up to yield bronze.

You have Native Copper. I forgot to put Native in front of Copper in the tech list. I've fixed that now.

Well the Midlanders could maybe count as a, if brief, third enemy I suppose.

They don't. The Midlanders were a vassal of Urth and therefore count towards fighting him.

[X] [Midland] Claim the midlanders as a conquest of the People. (Midlanders become a Vassal of the Arthwyd.)
They are small nearby and used to rule by an outsider we might be able to add them to our tribe soon after they become our vassals and serve as a base for the war against Urth

This war will likely end with Urth's death allowing us to focus on the boar men afterwards.

Well, having copper without smelting it isn't really useful at the moment... Not sure if that means experimenting with what's been discovered or not though.

Metal is way too good a tech to not jump on ASAP. Urth is not actually that dangerous, since he lacks many capable warriors. Boarfolk led by Vervov's grandson are extremely dangerous and need to be dealt with however we can.

I was going to let the midlanders fend for themselves, but then some kind soul pointed out that vassalising them might mean we get harpies inside our population, and there is no way in hell I am passing up the chance at getting flying dinosaur people.

We can afford to send help, so why wouldn't we?

[X] [Refugee] They can return to the Merntir (Refugees go back to the Merntir, lose status Merntir Refugees.)
Each new settlement we make needs three infrastructure upgrades before they are up to par: Shrine, Trails and Palisades. Letting them settle with us would take up a total of nine future actions. When we are already way behind on palisades.

No thanks.

[X] [Evalyn] North. Aid Cerwyn in defeating the Boarfolk and freeing the Merntir.
The Merntir have suffered more than the Arthwyn and therefore should be relieved first.

[X] [Rock] Yes. See if other rocks can produce similar secrets. (-2 Temp Econ, Chance of Innovation)
We got two faction quests that give Temp Econ, and with a bit of luck we can complete one of them this turn. This means we can afford the innovation rolls.

They don't. The Midlanders were a vassal of Urth and therefore count towards fighting him.
You know, maybe we should leave the Midlanders free to attack us on their own terms.

... Wait a second, if we had picked the civil war, would that technically have counted as the third attacker and given us Legendary Defender? Assuming we survived?
