As for my actual vote, I want all the tech - except military. I want to be a peaceful idealist. Boats are cool, and probably important because we're on a coast, but we already have the most knowledge of boats out of any of the categories I'm interested in. We're furthest behind in agriculture... But General Technology might give us writing... Unless that's under Arts.

It costs 2 Temp Martial. We have exactly 2 Temp Martial right now (and 3 perm, but it doesn't matter currently).
Basically same problem as all the -1 Temp Culture options.
But this is a midturn, wouldn't it clock back up by next turn anyway?
as in
we have 2, next turn it'd hit 3 due to rising by half of martial (one or two, depending on ossha not sure) which would make it three temp.
if say we spend -2 temp during midturn, next turn should at least let us have one temp martial which allows us to stay above the zero mark.
 
Mildly confused. I thought we didn't want any of our temp stats to go to zero. Why is letting our temp Econ hit zero ok?
Mostly the fact that it could only go to 0 when we get agricultural technology, which is Econ boosting.
Also we have highest Perm Econ, and +1 Temp Econ at the start of the turn.
In short... I feel it's the stat that's least likely to get bad repercussions?

Edit: Maybe getting better boats will lead to better fishing yields, navigation advancement and martial potential.

Not entirely sure where the boat king stuff early on and the complaints about it came from but in this early of an era he who commands the sea has command of everything. Especially if you can get set up on an island.

We have magic so I am sated, the random magical upgrade calls to me but I see logic.

I think some things its safer to be on zero than others, 0 martial is dangerous if we're attacked, if theres a bad harvest or some kind of divine calamity then clearly econ and mystic are used. But what random event steals culture? The Memtir buying all our statues and artwork?
