4 is blatant bullshit. We've had people arguing all sorts of massively unethical ideas on this thread. Hell, we just had another flare-up of the incredibly stupid 'let's just randomly exterminate a certain group of Xenos under our protection' argument. One of the core concepts of the universe for this quest is that the only way the galaxy for 40k is going to get dragged out of the grim-dark narrative is groups choosing not to make unethical sacrifices even when it's convenient. And the whole argument over the soul trade with the Sirens has had people constantly trying to push things just a bit further, with suggestions ranging from accepting a massive increase in law enforcement casualties to capture as many cultists alive as possible to even going full Dark Eldar and raiding other planets. Having the moral line being drawn at 'the most other people in the 40k universe will tolerate' is frankly way too far, and that's where the 'acceptable' line is drawn.

Of for fu- This is a ridiculous argument considering that this is a very vocal minority that is shouted down by the majority. And yes, despite what people keep ignoring the fact the fact is that soul destruction being seen as a mercy for the corrupted doesn't change the fact that a lot of people agree with that considering how horrible the fate is. Personally I think I'd be a lot more alright with being chowed down on by the likes of the Sirens then go through eternity of that kind of horror.

    [X] Thin their numbers
-[X] Dis: Harass them- You will be able to cause major damage at a incredible exchange rate if you have your faster units hunt the fleeing enemy down, though if they regroup your harassers could suffer.
-[X] The Lonely Citadel: Harass them- You will be able to cause major damage at a incredible exchange rate if you have your faster units hunt the fleeing enemy down, though if they regroup your harassers could suffer.
-[X] Bombard it- If you have available ships bombard the shattered remains of the siege camp you will be able to inflict major damage over time, and prevent them shoring up their defences.
-[X] Void: Pursuit- Chase them to the edge of the system, losing some more of your lighter ships in exchange for destroying many of the enemy ships so that you can be sure that you will not encounter them in the future.

I was only suggesting slave raiding in a hypothetical sense. Honestly!
[X] Contain and capture
Honestly, from a moral standpoint, I have zero repercussions about cultist raiding. Oh no, souls, instead of suffering for all eternity unless serving as a fuel for some demon, just vanish. How horrible. We just don't have the capability and others react very emotionally.

Eh, even morality questions aside there bunch of problems with this like diplomatic issues, human lives lost in the process (at this point every surviving world has at least decent defenses) and most importantly transporting bunch of corrupted and desperate cultist through Warp is A Bad Idea.

And of course there's the obvious problem that apart from chaos the only other people who do anything even similar to this is the Dark Eldar.

And nobody should want to be associated with them...

The problem with the Soul Trade doesn't have to do with morality, aside from the inherent risk of falling to Chaos due to being someone who would trade Human Souls to Xenos in Secret Lore. It's more political optics. It's a price I don't want to pay.

Actually raiding for cultists just seems like a great way to promote chaos corruption within our own forces, any officer who leads their troops well in soul piracy is probably walking the path to failing to chaos and what's worse is if any fall it would be because of our orders.

Listen to this man. Soon, we are going to launch a counter crusade at Valinor where we will kill their defenders, shatter their angyls, slaughter all their civilians, burn down their churches, and lay waste to all that they have ever built. We don't really need to add more stereotypical Chaos shenanigans.

Yeah, thus, "moral standpoint". It's not actually a good idea, due to those reasons you mentioned.

Actually, why exactly the soul is worth anything at all after you die? I mean, it either dissolves into warp, which is essentially the same result as a Siren eating it, or it doesn't, and then gets enslaved and/or ripped apart by demons, since humans don't have any save afterlife they can go into. Is there any reason not to feed your soul to Sirens when you die, besides kneejerk "Xenos eating my soul is bad" reaction?

We actively haven't been asking that question as we think it'd cause morale to collapse.

Perhaps in a few hundred years when our psyker numbers and knowledge is higher we can try to do something about it.

Ah, so there is probably no reason. Interesting, if not exactly something you want to scream from the rooftops. So, there is nothing intrinsically bad about feeding the souls of our terminally ill and wounded to the Sirens, even though the rest of the Trust will probably disagree.

Also, the only solution here is soulstones, since Eldars, who know far more about Warp than we do, never found anything better. And I am not even sure it's possible to produce them in such mass.

If Durin had chosen to allow Rotbart to start being corrupted by the Soul trade this thread would be so boned.

Oblivion is a mercy that the cultists do not deserve. Let them suffer a eternity of torture for their crimes and weakness.
