The cluster of crashed battlebarges would be petty safe.

They're under the impression that the districts they've captured can only be taken by the most determined assaults by our forces. In truth they could only see off a light assault. Being inside our walls means we can assault those positions a lot easier, as compared to trying to send out a sally. It's also apparently harder for them to gather the necessary numbers of sacrifices for the ritual from within our walls.

Gathering sacrifices won't be an issue once they breech the outer wall, and the bb themselves are hard to take, its the captured territory that they only loosely hold.

Gathering sacrifices together will be harder, because they'll have to do so while trying to hold their captured territory at the same time. Remember that the number of sacrifices needed is at least a billion. They're not going to be able to hold that number inside the battleships, and having to fend off attacks won't make it easy to perform the summoning as well. The simple logistics of the matter make it easier for them to do the summoning outside our walls easier than inside.

Also leaving aside that it'll be FAR easier to disrupt the ritual. It's our city, infiltrating our own city isn't what we call hard, their wards should be significantly weaker, and it should be rather easier to stall the ritual since we're at Ground Zero.

Absolute worst case scenario we LEF or Deathstrike or even just start bombing en masse. It's our city - Forget about things like 'Anti-Air' or 'Void Shields'.

As an aside, I'm really hoping we can get Ridcully fighting as a Sniper with our main force.

Is there a quote for that? Warhammer scale is fucky

According to Lexicanum "Imperial battleships can have crews of anywhere between 25,000 to 3,000,000 or more depending on sources,", so even at the high end you're going to have trouble stuffing billions of people into them. Dedicated warships don't tend to have a huge amount of space for ferrying troops, because that space would mean less armor and weapons. It's the reason that troop transports and mass conveyors are used to ferry around troops, rather than just putting them in the warships themselves outside of specialized ships like carriers.

They do have Battle Barges, but in all honesty.. the best place for them to do a summoning ritual is in their fortified siege camp with all the Fortifications, Void shields, AA and Wards.

Doing it in Dis just cedes like the latter 3 advantages.

Do we have enough force to retake the the orbitals without crazy losses yet?
Are there any more sorcerer lords we can target?
Have they sent the transport fleet for reinforcements yet?

Definitely hoping to see Ridcully with Rotbart's force, though. Mostly for the fluffiness, but in WH40k tabletop terms, we're basically making a Deathstar unit. This Deathstar is crazy powerful even before buffing though, just through sheer bonii.

Battlebarges are partially troop carriers, and they might be able to have multiple ritual sites.

@Durin can they fit the ritual on the crashed ships?

Just want to point out, since it wasn't mentioned:
[] lead the Governor's Own to engage the Emperor's Talons- The Governor's Own are the greatest soldiers of Avernus, and you are confident that you could take out the Emperor's Talons if you led them into battle. However this will require that you take your attention away from the main battle for a period.
Using Rotbart will lessen our martial bonus.
Emperor's Talons Attack First roll
Chaos Attack d100=76+58(martial)+50(Abomination)+22(psyker)=206
Imperial Defence d100=43+145(martial)+234(defences)-3(psyker)=419
Unsure by how much- maybe 52?
[] Bloody Retreat- You could deploy large numbers of your better soldiers to the walls as they come under attack, forcing the enemy to suffer massive casualties as they take the walls which would probably take most of a day. -This would lead to the Abomination forces being slower to move into Dis.
This will cause greater casualties for the army defending the outer walls.

Not that it matters too much- we still want them to bleed from every orifice, regardless of our losses.
But it's something to consider regardless.

The thing is, deploying Rotbart to the front actually increases his Martial bonus in a small area, which is good when dealing with high-tier Chaos Astartes.

Don't forget the coolness factor!

Gotta see Ridcully headshot their Librarian after Aria Nullzones him.
