The drone didn't know what to do. It's plans for the future ruined by those damn birds! It wanted to gather gas so the Queens could improve the swarm. Yet the damage done made minerals more important than ever. Gather, mine. Gather, mine. In the end the drone did the one thing that made sense to it.
Build additional pylons!
[X] Mine Minerals (1d10)
edit: Just to double check, i get to roll two more time right?
...dude I'm pretty sure you get at least 2 more rolls. Exploding Tens and all that.
As for me...guess I'll be a drone for a bit.
...
[X] Become a Drone (Cost 50 minerals) Requires you are not a Drone.
The zergli-no, it's not a zergling anymore, that body died. The Mind was a bit...erked, to say the least, with the Birds. The one time it decides not to hunt, and it ends up in a running battle with dozens of flying enemies that results in its death.
Typical. Just typical.
...well...it supposes that becoming a Zergling again, as much as it wants to hunt, wouldn't be the most optimal choice for preserving the long-term viability of the Hive. They need better warriors, and since no-one else seems willing to put in the effort...it supposes it can do it itself.
He had protected the Motherland with vigor and aplomb, bringing forth treasures aplenty. He had protected it zealously, even as the birds pillaged what was theirs.

Alright, Research Queen wants to live up to her name at least once before doing something else. Sorry zerglings, but an attack isn't in the cards today.... partly because I realized that the Birds are likely really good scouts, and probably already know where the Giant Swarm is. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they're already fighting each other.
The thoughtful mind, now a Research Queen, hissed at the irritating Birds that had attacked and been very distracting and annoying. It wanted to do research! Well fine, it would do some research! It would research something specifically designed to kill the annoying birds. And that would be generally useful against the Giants, and the Frogs, too. Helpful of the Birds to leave a bunch of their Essence behind in that attack. Research Queen would just have to show them how you really made an annoying bird! It would make the new kind of bird as obnoxious as physically possible. Fast enough that the Birds couldn't catch it. Long enough ranged that it could hit them from out of their reach. Ranged enough to hit any melee creature on the ground from out of its reach, too. And cheap enough that they could make bunches of them so that they could flap around in big flocks and pester everyone. It would even have an irritating screeching call!
(partly, I'm realizing that a flying ranged attacker would be an very good counter to Giant Banelings and Lava Frogs as well as the Annoying Birds)
[X] Start a research project (may have other requirements before work can begin on it. Such as biometal requiring the worms DNA in large amounts.)
-[X] 'Falcon' Zerg Strain
A new creation. Based primarily on Bird Essence, the Falcon is a small attack flier. Zergling musculature structures are utilized in an attempt to make the Falcon faster than a typical Bird, and it is armed with a medium-short range spine launcher. Technically has teeth and talons, but not really made for combat. Intended to outmaneuver the Birds, pelt them from outside their melee reach, and outrun their pursuit. A specifically designed Bird counter, still also generally useful as a cheap flying scout/harasser. Can use diving attacks to add additional punch to its spines. Uses enough zergling as a base to stay simple and cheap, spawned in pairs as an autonomous zerg. However, some Vespane gas is needed for the high metabolism requirements and pressurized spine launching organs.
-As listed, designed to be a bit faster than a typical bird, with a ranged spine attack.
-Kite the irritating flappy things into oblivion.
-Then pull Peregrine Falcon style diving raids on everything else.
-Pretty cheap and spawns in pairs, but does cost some gas.
-Poor durability, depends on speed and evasion to stay alive. Dies quickly to dedicated ranged units.
I'll be waiting for you brother. We've got a Heroic Queen coming up next turn, and after that if the zerglings start raking in Biomass on top of us going on the attack we may be able to start actually pushing outwards and cashing in on a few more Heroic Units. I think we're almost down to 4K minerals too, so we need to start enlarging our forces to make a push sooner rather than later.
Maybe he rolled his basic dice, got ten, then reroll it and got ten again, then reroll it and got nine. And only after that rolled omake-dice, abd got nine.
