Zerg Quest RIOT QUEST

Queen Harvester examined the mineral stocks sadly - insufficient for her dream of queen-hood. She stared at the mindless queen with envy, and then steeled herself for another day of mining. The minerals must flow, her ambitions shall never come before the good of the hive.

As crystal after crystal cracked beneath her jaws she considered how much more efficient this would be if the Queen were not so mindless - a queen's keen senses could guide to the most valuable minerals, those with convenient fracturing points. But... Queen Harvester would make do until she could take that spot!

Drone Diggah continues digging, he was born to dig, he was born digging, he is digging. Dig Dig Dig.
For the Swarm! He digs ever deeper, carrying the vital minerals needed to grow. Dig Dig Dig. Could he be more? Yes. But does he want to? No.
For he is Diggah and he will be the best digger.

All these people banding together to mine minerals for the swarm are the true unsung heroes.

Speaking of minerals, I think getting a player queen up quickly would be a *huge*income boost, but it does come with some risk.

(1 Player queen equals almost 4 drones (since they return 10 on the same turn they effectively cost 40))

But +1 to each die rolled? That adds up really fast with a lot of people rolling 2 dice. I'm fairly certain more than 30 dice get thrown on minerals every turn.

Jungle: You have found another swarm and seen which direction they are dragging biomass towards. The do seem to have focused evolution in an odd way, they are massive. Each drone is five to ten times larger than your own. Hulking beasts that move slowly but can move massive amount of materials. They will be a hard fight but at least knowing their rough location without them knowing yours makes an attack far more possible. It does mean though scouting the jungle has some risk of being followed back.
Is there also a risk to collecting biomass in that area (the only area we collect biomass), or will we simply avoid risky areas during hunts?

Your main Zerg hive exist on a large stone field a thin layer of creep growing over the stone outwards from your hatchery.
Contains
-Large mineral patches (Approximately 5k Remains)
So we actually have to worry about acquiring territory, as eventually we're going to run out of minerals.

There is a risk either way, your on a clock, massive scouting/biomass gathering might make that clock tick faster, but ultimately do you have much of a choice?
Biomass is pretty key to breaking out of only canon tech.

Okay, so currently at 68 Minerals total.

Let's see how much I can contribute to the pile!

The Intrepid Little Drone departed once more unto foreign lands.

The ground would churn from his passing, and the tall grass would part for his coming.

The crystals would render unto him gifts ever flowing, but his aspirations would only rise ever higher, ever grander.

The Little Drone would then make the arduous journey back, the weight of his glory, and the constant bother of the thrice-damned insect his ever-faithful companions.

And as it in turn gifted the pile of resource to the Motherland, he knew.

His time would soon come.

Drone Phi-29 heard its first sound when the queen hatched. From there, many sounds occurred. Drones abandoning their mining form to ascend to a larger mining form, bubbling spawning pools churning out Zerg with ambitious ideas. Phi-29 heard not-sounds, as well, like Queen Harvester's ambitions for a regal form, or the uncertain fear of the large zerg found scouting. After a long moment, Phi-29 realized they could make sounds, too.

This Drone is mining minerals, hurrah, hurrah;

Phi-29 contemplates adding more to the sound in the future. For now, we need dem mins.

Hmm, I was going to ask; are Omake bonuses strictly once per player only, or once per player per turn?

Edit: Also, we may want to organize when it comes to player queens. They're expensive, but also really powerful, and necessary for leading attacks... and as the things that lead attacks, also need to not be too reckless. Of course, this is a riot quest, but it would still be sad to see 150 minerals go down the drain due to an overeager queen with not enough support launching a premature attack.

"All this hubbub is amazing, glorious, overwhelming, distracting, futile" a little confused Drone thought. It was startled by the thought, maybe even more than by the other Drones' thoughts (some were not even drones anymore... Who knew what that would lead to...). It wiggled uncertainly on the thin layer of creep between the Hive and the gas geysers, wondering, considering. This feeling, whatever the others were doing, it was unnatural in some way. It somehow seemed wrong to be different from the others, it felt like what there should have been, was a uniform presence, a single thought among all that belonged to the hive. "And still", it thought, still wavering on the precipice of treachery, for what else could be done when surrounded by abominations, "still...". It did not know how to finish the thought. The feeling of wrongness came from the depths of its Essence, written into it's being. "And still I hesitate" it thought, a mix of its own confused emotions and the other's thoughts making it sway on the spot.
"I want to see where this leads" it answered its own unthought question. "I want to grow, to learn," it thought to itself, finding its balance and skittering towards the closest Vespene Geyser.
"I want to know what I can become".

Once per person per turn.

As the young drone mine, it starts... singing - if you can call it that - with the tempo of its mining.

Cold, the air and water flowing
Hard, the land we call our home
Push, to keep the dark from coming
Feel the weight of what we owe

when we first join as a drone, are we supposed to do a different task before becoming something different?

Because I am fine with trying to get a heroic bonus to eventually get us a hunter-killer or devouring one.

and does the omake bonus count towards the 3d10 rule? or as something separate?

If your first post is to change from a drone to something else that is fine.

The heroic bonus is for getting 3 conescutive 10's.
If you get a 10 you roll another die.

In this way increasing your base number of dice increases the odds of getting 3 ocnsecutive 10's but it doesn't actually give progress towards it.

EG:

You roll your first die, if it's anything but a 10, your done with that die.
If it is a 10, roll another die.
If this third die is a 10, stop take 30 for your roll AND a heroic bonus.

Now roll a second, die from being a Zergling who is scouting (or whatever)
Roll your die
if it's anything but a 10, your done with that die.
If it is a 10, roll another die.
If this third die is a 10, stop take 30 for your roll AND a heroic bonus.

If you have a third dice because your a Zergling scouting and did an omake (or whatever other reason)
Roll your die
if it's anything but a 10, your done with that die.
If it is a 10, roll another die.
If this third die is a 10, stop take 30 for your roll AND a heroic bonus.

In theory you could claim 90 as a total roll in such a situation and 3 heroic bonuses, in practice I'd probably give even more than that because holy fuck you rolled a 90 on 3d10 in something like a 1 in 100 million odds.

[X] Mine Minerals (1d10)

Since I am currently a newly made drone, I don't start off thinking about how a moment ago, my individual existence was not even a vague concept.
But yes, this is what comes up once I have gained enough experience being a physical being and after harvesting the pretty blue crystals that are mulched into more biomass.

"There was nothing, and then I was here, going off to collect minerals. Minerals that no longer exist in the area were I pick them up.
Or why am I even here in the first place? Is this tiny blue thing the same object that was in the ground before I tore it out? or does it count as something different in the first place.Does that mean I'd stop existing as I am if I was picked up myself? I think I am still me, since I am in control of myself.

But what about the minerals? Once they are used up, they are gone. Eaten, melted down, and becoming a part o something else.
Is that what will happen to the other minerals here? What happens when there are no more minerals anywhere?"

I see those fast, thin, zerglings, with better legs and claws, and I see that the hivemind is desperate for more minerals.
They are going to have a nice time doing more esoteric things beyond the extreamly important support task.
I think I'd prefer to be fast like them, but I can't just stop in the middle of this.
I know I'd be happier being fast, but I can do that once I am done here.

I want to do something, and if I run off now, I might end up doing nothing.
