So, who here would be interested in 1e Requiem modified? The biggest modifications being the removal of emotional deadness for Vampires and the removal of that pesky Humanity meter. That's really it.

I'd be up for you stopping nagging. That's, what, three times on this page alone? Maybe four?

And given your main interactions with this thread are expressing contempt for the WoD setting as written, a thread of "people who like the WoD setting to at least some degree" might not be the best place to shill, compared to the general RP forum.

You are thinking of Werewolf Death Rage, Vampire Frenzy isn't "Mindless Berserker" so much as "You" with all higher mental functions excised and your Fight-or-Flight response constantly active.
Fluff descriptions of The Beast are so melodramatic and overblown compared to actual effects?
Melodramatic like vampires usually are :p
I'd been fooled by vampire propaganda! What are the odds?

Ah, sorry, still getting a hang of what level does what, and what can be done.

I was just imagining some petty bastard Mage, for instance, who decides, "Dress codes are for losers" but doesn't want to get chewed out for it, but the Derringer example seemed like a more serious one to lead with, though thinking about it they might be different things. The illusion of 'He's totally wearing a tie/ignore that he's wearing a Hawaiian shirt' versus 'Just ignore the existence of one object.'

Though both are interesting little tricks.
I think you could basically veil your entire state of dress, if for some reason you felt like streaking.

The difference would be how much disbelief/paradox it might provoke between overlooking a small gun and a nudist mage.

For kicks I checked to see if he went and posted anything there. He's been banned for coming up on four years for being a sock.

A case of mistaken identity, but I will accept my ban regardless as I generally dislike RPG.net's community. To me, getting banned from that madhouse was a blessing.

Oh, and I like the WoD setting but not its themes. Luckily you can keep about 90% of the setting and get rid of the themes you don't like. Eat the chicken and throw away the bone.

Also, does anyone have a link to that interesting ES post (I think it was ES) where he has an idea of where Second Sight Low-Magic might fit into a Mage: The Awakening Paradigm/Universe? Like, I remember seeing it, or he might have been linking someone else saying it, and thinking, "Huh, that actually makes sense."

I think it also explained away Psychics/etc. It was nifty.

This is a funny statement because the setting informs the themes, and honestly deciding to throw away the themes in service to some kind of incredibly shallow, superficial reading of the setting is probably the most boring possible thing you could ever possibly do. Especially since you're talking nVampire here which is only a setting insofar as it has themes that come across. At that point you might as well play in a different urban fantasy setting which doesn't tell you that simply because vampires are sexy doesn't make them wounded, beautiful heroes waiting for the redemption of love but rather immensely fucked-up parasites who need to harm others merely to survive.

It's been ages since I played WoD, but I'm fairly sure that the themes are pretty much the only things separating it from the real world.

We've been over this before, and Paulie is being more economical with the truth than a £1 shop that only sells metaphysical concepts. To quote TenfoldShields from the last time this came up:

It's a modified WoD in the same way a horse drawn Hummer is technically a hybrid.

Ie. Not really, also you ripped out everything important and now there's horseshit everywhere

This is the same person who decided that the humanity-denigrating pagan vampire witches and the insane vampire pseudo-scientist occultists are the good Covenants and re-wrote things to make them the good guys.

Here. It's oooooooooooold (from 2008).

In nMage, was the burning of the Library of Alexandria orchestrated by a mage who wanted to stop anyone else from learning the things he'd found by studying there?

Nah. It was part of an imperial work of magic, to destroy the archives of the Exarchs by destroying the representation of knowledge upon Earth, and so leave them dumb and ignorant of the affairs of the world. So it is written, as below; so above.

(the proto-Mysterium was very unhappy with the proto-Silver Ladder for doing that)

Rule Zero, my friend. If you don't like something, change it.

Fuck the themes, fuck the canon, and fuck the Goth subculture. I'm playing WoD MY way. Fuck Humanity and all that whiny and pretentious Goth shit. I'm doing things MY way and I don't need "Some Other Game" when I can just hack and modify WoD to my hearts content.

Anyone who doesn't like that doesn't have to play in my games and can go back to listening to Sisters of Mercy and Type O Negative while bitching about "Woe is me, I'm a monster!" like some annoying Goth malcontent.

You play your game your way, and I'll play my game my way. And that is that. I'm going to run this katana-heavy anti-Gothic Vampire game just to spite you guys now.

Oh my god, get some new materials man. Sisters of Mercy? Really? I wasn't even in primary school when they last released an album. You're going on and on and on about them when you're the only one who actually cares. I had to check wikipedia to even see who they really were, because all I know about them is that they were a band that goths used to like. You're punching at phantom ghosts of the goth subculture while everyone is just staring at you in bemusement.

Your references are just dated, and sad because of it.

And once again, the question that you're posing is this; why do you come here and be so vocal about your contempt for the entire WoD, old and new alike? What makes you think the best way to acquire players for your game is to call everyone a Goth, and then declare that you hate the game as written, that you hate the themes and the canon, and that you just want to do things to spite people here?

So, sure, you can run a game based on hating everything about the themes and canon of either WoD. But stop forcing it in our faces and don't nag about wanting players 3-4 times on a single page. Go find the usual place to advertise for players and do it there, because you'll probably have a lot more success and the rest of us won't have to put up with your exceedingly dated attempts at insults.

...

Just for your information, my Requiem setting owes more to Tarantino and Mafia films than Anne Rice, my Promethean setting is sci-fi and alchemy and freaky angels (just like canon, P:tC so gorgeous), and my Mage the Awakening is the bastard chimeric offspring of canon Awakening, Ascension and Unknown Armies. So your tiresome "Goth" insults are a long way off-point.

And so, EarthScorpion is proven right. Again.

You are not endearing yourself to the vast majority of the people on the forum here. You are outright stating that we're all "Goth Malcontents" simply because we like the ideas White Wolf. This goes beyond expressing your ideas and opinions, and veers into passive-aggressive insults, attacks, and massive contempt for the people in this thread, to our intelligence and tastes, to the Goth culture who are stereotyped by your hate-boner, and the genre of horror which is the foundation World of Darkness is built upon.

And when called out on your crass and offensive behavior, when faced with the possibility that you are perhaps mistaken, you act as a petulant child throwing a tantrum. You simply deny everything, double down on you unreasonable beliefs, and spew forth more vitriol. Frankly, if is what we can expect from you, then your presence is unneeded and unwanted.
