The Young Eagle - A Napoleon Quest

[X] Plan A Stable Sardinia + Ending Slavery

[X] Write in: Have Treguet stop at Corsica and disband 1st Battalion and 2nd Battalion unless enough Corsicans are willing to join us to create a full strength battalion if we merge both battalions. Keep the Marseilles National Guard.

Look how Blissful Napoleon looks and look at that smile of contentment, you wanna know how he got it?
Happy-Nappy
Well, he got it by voting for There are Weeks where Decades Happen in this quest! If you also want what Napoleon has in this (super professional) image, do what he did!

The Bonapartist standing on a raised platform in Paris urging people to support Napoleon. :D

Napoleon should make sure his name is on the Sardinian Constitution. Build his name and reputation.

"I did not come to take, but to give."

[X] Plan A Stable Sardinia + Ending Slavery
-[X] Constitution - Sons of Hellas and Judea:
--[X] Write in: The Greeks and Jews are given full status as citizens of Sardinia as well as protected minorities, with all the rights and obligations that entails.
-[X] Constitution - The Coral Trade:
--[X] Write in: Grant the monopoly and business concessions as agreed but with caveats. Make sure that the government is able to extract a tax from the trade in order to prevent future resentment. Make provisions for a renegotiation of the deal after a period of say 20 years, enough time for the new economy of the fledgling nation to take form.
    -[X] Constitution - Civil liberties:
--[X] Write in: Guarantee the rights to freedom of speech, freedom of peaceful assembly, right of the press, the right to fair elections, the right to property, the right to work, the right to education, the right to a fair trial and due process and finally fair and equal treatment under the law
    -[X] Constitution - Slavery:
--[X] Write in: Total abolishment of slavery, slaves on the island are free, but will need to go through a process of applying for citizenship to ensure they understand what it means to be a citizen of Sardinia, the rights that follow, as well as the responsibilities and expectations. These processes are to be conducted fairly and without disadvantaging the formerly enslaved people.
-[X] Constitution - The form of government:
--[X] Write in: Structured as a three institution system. Legislature, Judiciary and Executive. Legislature shall be a Unicameral house of elected representatives with each region being given seats based on proportion of population. The legislature shall be called The Sardinian People's Free National Assembly. Judiciary will be a Tribunal of judges nominated by the Executive but approved upon by the Legislature. Executive shall be elected by national election with simple majority. Grant the Greeks and Jews extra seats in recognition of their service to their adopted homeland. Propose a deal with the aristocracy for seats as well in exchange for a tax on their income and properties. The combined seats in total gained by the aristocracy should be in proportion to the ones given to the Greeks and Jews, and should never infringe on the majority of regular seats. The aristocratic seats can be contested in succeeding election cycles after the first one, the taxation remains in perpetuity. The idea behind doing so is to give these factions say in the future of the nation in return for past and future service.

[X] There are Weeks where Decades Happen
[X] Keep the units intact on your return to France - with a new government in place, you never know where you might be sent. Not having to waste time levying a new force might be useful.
[X] Plan: "Constitution Writing Is My Hobby, Good Sir."
-[X] Constitution - Sons of Hellas and Judea:
--[X] Write-in: Greeks and Jews are ratified as full legal citizens of the new Republic of Sardinia, with all that it implies. Including guaranteed liberties granted by the constitution, responsibilities expected of them as citizens such as taxes, voting, representation, service in the military etc. etc. The Greek and Jewish populations are to be civilians with the same rights, liberties, expectations and treatment as any other civilian.
    -[X] Constitution - The Moors:
--[X] Write in: The Aristocracy is to be abolished, large portions of their fiefs which are unused are to be seized by the state and given in out to civilians living on those lands by lottery or allotment. Any land that cannot be given out will be property of the State and they can decide what to do with it from there. Either sell it to help with an early treasury, or develop it themselves. The Clergy is to have most of it's institutional powers abolished, such as the ability to tithe within their parish or diocese. Beginning a process of full separate from church and state.
-[X] Constitution - The Coral Trade:
--[X] Write in: Advocate for the monopoly, but also advocate that the government as apart of it's powers should have the power to regulate these monopolies and when decided by vote, have the ability to break them up if it is more beneficial to the economy of the newborn republic.
-[X] Constitution - The form of government:
--[X] Write in: Structured as a three institution system. Legislature, Judiciary and Executive. Legislature shall be a Unicameral house of elected representatives with each region being given seats based on proportion of population. Legislature shall be called The National Assembly. Judiciary will be a Tribunal of judges nominated by the Executive but approved upon by the Legislature. Executive shall be elected by national election with simple majority.
    -[X] Constitution - Civil liberties:
--[X] Write in: Liberty, Equality, Fraternity. Try to spread the ideals of the revolution by seeding it's ideas in the nations newfound civil liberties. Right to free-speech, peaceful assembly, right of the press, to vote, right to property, right to work, most importantly a right to education as well, as a baseline.
    -[X] Constitution - The Military:
--[X] Write in: An army for national defense should be established made up of Citizen Soldiers. It should be small, but professional, to man forts and defensive hardpoints and population centers of the island. Additionally, national militias will be founded where all men will undergo occasional training, so when times of dire need arise, the small professional army can be padded by these militias. The Sardinian Navy will be founded for coastal defense and defense of the islands vital trade. Military figures will be entirely answerable to the civil government, yet soldiers are citizens and have the rights as listed above, such as ability to vote. Military figures seeking civil office are required to resign from their military post upon winning the election.
    -[X] Constitution - Religious Freedom:
--[X] Write in: Complete separation of Church and State. Citizens have the right to worship as they please. The state has no power to regulate or enforce a state religion, and it's institutions will act entirely as secular entities.
-[X] Constitution - Trade, Protectionism and The Economy:
--[X] The new Assembly should have the power to regulate trade as how they wish, however advocate for free trade and market to attract foreign capital and build up on the islands resources and economy before any of the more protectionist angles can be taken.
-[X] Keep the units intact on your return to France - with a new government in place, you never know where you might be sent. Not having to waste time levying a new force might be useful.
[X] Politely decline: You've been in Sardinia too long. You wish your allies the best, but it's time to go home. (Don't take any of the constitution options if you pick this.)
    [X] Plan The Absolute Basics
-[X] Have Treguet stop at Corsica and then Marseilles, and disband the national guard units. They've already done more than you could have asked, and they've earned their rest.

Uh, no. We have a Bourbon at the Helm, yes, but as President of the Republic. The actual Bourbon Coup to restore the Monarchy itself has already fallen apart.

A Bourbon as President?

Orleans's "People King" is one thing, President Louis Napoleon is also one thing..but a Bourbon as President?

We shall liberate the Republic from this tyrant that's trying to corrupt the Revolution by favouring only the Self-prolaimed "Ex-Nobility"!

Dude. Buddy. He hasn't done ANYTHING yet. And so far, he seems to be revolutionary minded. Remember, he didn't even want the Job until DANTON himself convinced him to take it.

Calm your jets. Attacking him now would only get us branded as Traitors to the Republic. IF he goes that route, we can still take him down, but until then, no.

Well, this Bourbon is on the Revolutions side to the point where the former King Louis' family thinks he plotted the whole revolution from the beginning... So, I think we're safe in regards of Phillipe Egalite, for the most part... Granted, I don't know too much about Phillipe Egalite historically, so, maybe putting my temporary trust in him will be a mistake that'll bite us later.

However I still find the irony of the whole saving a republic led by a Bourbon against royalists who wish to re-establish the monarchy with another Bourbon. It seems like the thing that'd be made into a joke in future history classes.

Well, by all accounts, he was honest in having Liberal and Democratic ideals, even before the Revolution. Admittedly, he initially preferred a Constitutional Monarchy in British Style over a pure Republic, but he was hardly alone in that and he never supported any steps to restore the Bourbons after they lost the crown, nor spoke up against the Republic.

Admittedly, Robespierre promptly had him guillotined in OTL not long after out of pure paranoia, so he never got a chance to show what he might have done had he lived longer, but still.

An actor eh?

If he's truly for the revolution, do you think he'd agree to peace with the other Monarchs?

We all know what kind of peace they all want..

There hasn't been peace negotiations with any of the other European powers just yet, I don't believe?

Alexandre Dumas is currently threatening a potential march into Austria from northern Italy, but it hasn't happened yet. Either way, none of the news we've been hearing as it's trickling down to Sardinia suggests the convention is wanting to sign peaces just yet. France got dealt a ton of confusion with Dumouriez' coup, and trying to negotiate a peace would signal blood in the water for the sharks. So to speak.

Interesting. I wonder what other implications will arise from figures that managed to survive in this quest because Robespierre never got the chance to guillotine them.

Number one problem that should sink Citizen Egalites support amingst the elite and the masses should be the total cluster fuck that was the French econmy at the time.
