Shepard Quest Mk VI, Technological Revolution

Actually, they are our shadowrunners (this may have already been mentioned about a week or two ago)
Ah, yes, i think it was. And that Is better. The idea popped up in my stream of conciousness rambling and no better term for it came up at the time, though.

Not that the difference is That big on a "three (wo)man team, funded by a backer who's wealth is roughly equivalent to "yes"" scale.

we should also do something about Jack and Kasumi, and Liara (if she's on the planet) and our family. Like evacuating them to the most secure point of the colony or some such.
I'm not too worried about them. Kasumi has an invisible man suit so she'll be perfectly safe. Liara has commando training. Mom is a freaking N5. Do you know what N5 means? N1s are considered some of the finest soldiers that humanity has to offer and it only gets better from there. Mom went all the way to 5 before she dropped out. She could probably solo a SEAL squad with a small table knife let alone the trash pirates and stuff that are probably coming our way. Dad is under her protection, and they probably have suits so they'll be fine.

Jack is jack. What else needs saying?

I like it. I would have liked to see what people were doing with our construction "game" - because some of the crazy ideas could be interesting, and, if nothing else, I'd very much liked to see what sort of art they could make with it. But I can live without it, I guess.
It's a new Minecraft-like building game. Everything is going to look like a penis. Everything. We'll need to wait a few months for people to get that out of their system first.

More importantly, our second personal action next quarter is going to be to look for another admin hero, maybe for the mining company. We need more diplomacy/negotiations for that.
@Theyes we should also do something about Jack and Kasumi, and Liara (if she's on the planet) and our family. Like evacuating them to the most secure point of the colony or some such.
I did take that as sort of a given, but I have to ask: what place could possibly be more secure than our labs? ParSec HQ?

Tali will be joining them soon-ish; can't have a runner team without a decker. :D

Anyone want to continue it? I'm hitting a wall as to what to do.
Given Kasumi's recent... acquisition, sure why not.

Nya Revy Part 2

Revy yawned, stretching her back like a slinky. 7:30 am. She'd checked her mail, sent out a few responses, and started the cruiser design project. And clearly the best thing to do would be to take a nap now. She turned off her terminal, pulled herself onto the desk, and curled herself into a ball before falling asleep immediately.

<<>>

Kasumi smiled as she moved throughout the facility, completely undetectable. They'd realized the suit had gone missing a few minutes ago, presumably from the researchers checking the storage locker. Only half an hour after she had taken it, and she could almost taste the realization on Hwan's face when he realized why the chairs seemed to be moving around whenever he turned to talk to Mordin. When the announcement went out, she'd opened the lab door, waited for the security team to storm past, assuming she'd escaped, and then proceeded in the direction of Revy's office. Wonder what she could do there?

As the door hissed open, she glanced at the seat, not seeing the good doctor there. There was a big lump on the workbench, though. Hang on a second.

Revy, curled up in a ball, snoring lightly, and with bright red cat ears on her head. Kasumi's grin could almost be seen through the suit's stealth systems. Blackmail!

She whipped out her omnitool and began recording video. Only for the Revycat to wake up suddenly. Her eyes blinked open, blue with slitted pupils, and she looked around the room. Seeing nothing amiss, but apparently still not satisfied with that result, she stretched, her joints flexing just beyond what a normal human could do. And then she started sniffing the air. Her head tilted, her ears folded back, and then she leapt. Straight onto Kasumi.

"Gah!" The girl shouted, as Revy hissed at where she was. The suit shut off with the impact, and then Revy could see the diminutive figure wearing the most advanced stealth system developed.

"Kasumi." Revy stated, and Kasumi noted one of Revy's canines was a bit longer and sharper than normal. "Where did you get the suit?"

"Miss Goto removed the suit from the project room at 0651 this morning, Dr. Shepard." Cortana interjected into the conversation.

"Kasumi, I know you want to mess around with things, but you should seriously not be stealing the prototypes. Especially before they're done being tested."

The ninja frowned for a moment. "Alright." She said eventually.

"Thank you." Shepard said, releasing one of Kasumi's arms. "Now, first, we're going to erase whatever blackmail you just recorded." She flicked open Kasumi's omnitool, as the girl suddenly began to struggle towards her freedom, and the preservation of the blackmail video. Not to much success, given Revy's peak human treatments, her suddenly increased flexibility, and her catlike hissing.

"Meanie!" Kasumi sulked.

"Kasumi, I'm really not in the mood for this right now. Sorry about being a jerk, but I need to fix the cat thing." Shepard's ears were flat. Then suddenly they perked up. "Can you get something for me?" Shepard asked.

<<>>

Shepard yawned, looking at the data from her tests. No DNA changed, no significant blood changes, and she'd started poking at the insignificant ones to see what they were. Quick tests had eliminated viruses, bacteria, and any source of cat DNA. Or any DNA besides hers and her microbiome's. Maybe taking a nap would be a good idea? It had been a while since she'd gotten any sleep.

No, bad Revy. Don't sleep, you need to fix this!

The door suddenly rushed open. "Nya!" Revy vaulted out of her seat and behind a pile of components before she'd realized what she did. There was no one there. Then the door sealed and Kasumi appeared.

"I found a few things." She said, pulling out a bunch of bottles. "Not sure if it's any good, but they're not supposed to have any anyways." She handed off the booze to Shepard, who graciously accepted it.

"Thanks." She sat down at her desk. "Feel free to do whatever for a bit, but if this leaks-" She turned a golden eye upon the teenage ninja. "-then I will end you." Then she downed a shot.

<< <<>> >>

Shepard yawned and stretched her back, feeling the pull of the muscles at about the right place. Did it work? She ran a hand over her head. No ears. She ran to the bathroom, and checked the mirror. Blue eyes with round pupils. Good. Her canine was still a bit pointy though.

"Well that was a waste of a day." She sighed, check the time as she went back out to her office. "And now Mom's gonna be mad that I slept at the office."
Then she noticed Kasumi stretched out on the couch, stirring from sleep.

"Nyaaa." The ninja went, ears and tail twitching.

Excellent! Well done!

Could someone (probably @UberJJK or @TheEyes ) give an estimated timeline for our RP pools? How much we can reasonably expect next turn, the turn after that and so on, assuming steady laboratory construction rate, no special events and no research-boosting techs or heroes being discovered/hired? I wanted to try crafting long-term research plan.

Actually, in summary, ME2 can just be thrown out entirely. *nod*

ME2 had some good stuff and some bad stuff, but a lot of it depended good and bad on the character reset and the two year time skip combined with it's consequences. The effects of the time skip resembled a "for want of a nail" story.

Also, Jack's still a kid at this point, and due to radically different events transpiring, Liara's post ME1 characterisation's probably been derailed too...

Jack will probably never loose her battle lust and casual attitude towards killing especially foes, but she's probably going to not have the same distrust of people in general.

Liara? Her ME2 characterization was entirely dependent on Shepard dying. Which you know... probably won't happen.

Liara has commando training.

Often forgotten, even when you have her as team caster, Liara has enough experience and training even before ME1 to be a veteran. Liara even says she often solos small groups of Pirate and Mercs in ME1. She's pretty casual about the whole thing to.

Okay so... I'm going to toss in +75 for the composite, 'kay?

ould someone (probably @UberJJK or @TheEyes ) give an estimated timeline for our RP pools?

Assuming my math is okay...

Next turn estimate (not including bonus from omakes)
General: 2,073.5 RP
ME/Dark Energy: 22.5 RP
Biotech: 70 RP
Ships: 10 RP
Improving/Developing Setting Tech: 37

Turn after that:
General: 2,073.5 RP
ME/Dark Energy: 22.5 RP
Biotech: 70 RP
Ships: 10 RP
Improving/Developing Setting Tech: 37

Next:
General: 2,171.75 RP
ME/Dark Energy: 22.5 RP
Biotech: 70 RP
Ships: 10 RP
Improving/Developing Setting Tech: 69.75 RP

After that get kinda blurry but maybe:
General: 2,213 RP
ME/Dark Energy: 22.5 RP
Biotech: 70 RP
Ships: 10 RP
Improving/Developing Setting Tech: 69.75 RP

[X] Plan The Eyes

Ok... just a thought I had that's probably been discussed before, but are we able to split off people and assets to form sub-companies that are relatively autonomous?

For example, create Paragon Sciences, put that lab and people we bought when we got the stealth material, and maybe another lab and more scientists. We lost control of those dice, but instead we have say, each dice turns into a +10, as well as a d90 per turn, randomly distributed to a tech from trees we made the company for, for Paragon Sciences, it would be the Mass Effect techs, per d100 we give up...

It would cut down on how much we choose, as well as giving a guaranteed general progress into tech trees...

Might not be applicable now, but once we start getting 20 or 30 dice, we really should look into it.

The "basic research" labs kind of do this. They're off doing theory work and only produce +10RP instead of a die and it's bonuses.

Thing is that when it comes down to it the tech tree is an artifact of gameplay and Revy. It requires Revy to function and others thus do not use it. In fact if I was required to I'd generate a different tech tree for each group.

So a research lab not directed by Revy produces far less points and an autonomous one wouldn't even "see" the tech tree.

Also the dice got shifted around so we use 10d10 sets instead of d100s now.

Didn't know that as I only found this recently, so I've missed most of the non-story posts...

So basically you have it where any lab that Revy doesn't manage herself only slowly progresses? As it lacks any input from Revy's spontaneous ideas?

Pretty much. Rules are: one Lab I-III stack per planet. Only one lab anywhere under construction at a time. Labs Revy isn't managing directly (ones on other planets) have reduced RP generation (in the 5-25% of max range).

The alternative was:
Masses of money > Tons of labs > Tech tree finished to soon> Why are we playing this again?/make Reapers even more powerful

So yeah had to nerf research point growth, if you look at the last research update I include in a spoiler the details of the points. Elysium is operating at 15% for example.

The joke I make when explaining this is that Revy is a magic research fairy that spreads magic research dust around, no magic research dust no masses of RP.

Oh yeah and no mind cloning Revy. It's forbidden.

The Tech Sheet has been up for a long time now. It needs to be significantly overhauled now, both for the new quarter's techs and because we no longer need to run 95% confidence intervals for die rolls, but for right now the estimates are still not too bad.

What if we hook our mind up to a QEC network in order to maintain a presence on multiple planets?
