Shepard Quest Mk VI, Technological Revolution

[3] Heterosexual (Dating Brian has just proven the point)
[5] Bisexual (Why not both?)
[4] Homosexual (Having dated a guy you can definitely say they're not for you)
[2] Asexual (Tried dating, prefer science)
[1] Still thinking about it

(Oh and @Kinematics, does the vote Tally treat a [X] for preferntial voting as a 1 or does it consider them as separate votes altogether?)
Sorry, missed this question earlier. An [x] vote has no effect on ranked voting whatsoever. It's an entirely separate category of vote.

Also, since use of ranked votes is rare, I'll be tracking and reviewing the results to make sure everything seems to be running as expected.

I am pretty sure Hoyr will throw in some original characters if you guys choose heterosexual. Brian, for example.
...Hmmm. Do Hanar have sexes?

Just as an FYI: The thread author will never have his or her votes counted. So you can make all the joke or example votes you want, or put the winning vote in the update post, etc, and it won't affect running a tally.

Cool

I am pretty sure Hoyr will throw in some original characters if you guys choose heterosexual. Brian, for example.

I'm willing to try at least.

OC's have not been developed much if at all. Brian was basically a blank slate for how much character development he got. Unless you're going to develop an OC properly, don't put them in a position where they need to be developed, like MC's Romantic Interest. A canon character like Liara has much more character to work with and will be much easier to for the GM to write meaningfully.

Brian was one of those things where I was tossed a character and wasn't sure what to do with him exactly. I tried to give him some character when I used him. He started, when I got him, as being intrested in the military, and well sort of a jock? Not in a bad way but in an active athletic way. I had him for all of a quarter and I tried to expand upon his relationship with Revy and how he was good at getting he to go out and do stuff. Thing is he never was a dramatic character... that may change though.

Ultimately with any character but especially an OC I try to give them at least one "plot hook" or objective in life that is important. Gaven Dor has one for example.

Ah, excellent! I was looking for a good response, but I was having a hard time feeling out the argument (which is why the conversation turned so one-sided at the end). It might be interesting to continue this omake, stretch out the debate a little, bring up the other subjects I was planning on mentioning to the Salarian Councilor.

Your welcome then. You have to understand these are the Salarians. Well know for information and fighting wars by winning them before they start. I'd bet good money that the STG has be trying it damnedest to get data on the Geth for years to manage the situation. Maybe that's part of why the Council didn't panic and invade the Perseus Vale (sp?) when the Geth attacked the first time? In addition to the whole it's near the Terminus thing.

Ultimately the Geth are the sort of problem you can't "solve", diplomacy isn't an option the other side will not talk. War will just make them in a horde of Von Neumann Autowars. You could try a strategic annihilation, but it has to work the first time and well yeah. WMD. You just have to take a deep breath, realize you can't fix it, and then make sure your actions won't make it work.

Edit: Actually part of me was tempted to suggest that you don't give text for the Salarian Councilor, let me do it.

In addition for the AI isn't the solution, part of the argument. You'd have to make a Geth network at a minimum to try to finure anything out about the Geth, though you'd still be missing their entire cultural history. Just making a new AI is about as useful as asking a Krogan how to to discuss things with a Hanar.

Cool. Go ahead. I've got Bisexual winning often as a second choice as of last test.

One thing I have noted though this is an issue on the voter's parts (or maybe mine as the GM) is that "Bisexual" and "Bisexual (Why not both?)" Are separate. As I don't have data access I can't correct for this, don't think I really could the system gets complicated.

Edit: Nevermind, I know how to fix that now.

...Hmmm. Do Hanar have sexes?

Looks up jellyfish. Reads, stops reading. Closes tab. Yes they do, I don't feel like giving details.

Edit 2: Stupid details getting lost:
makes it pretty clear that they start counting from January 1. After all if they started counting from date of registry then there would be no cause for the requirements to be reduced to 150k thanks to a late start.

Huh... derp. Okay then. 50K until the factory for the thingys comes online and then you just need to sell 50% or more of that factory's production.

I may banish specialized production (I'll probably just wave my hand and say their the normal factory of their type) though so it'll just be 50% of a Space Factories II's production.

Yeah. You have to go to Manage Votes (and switch to the Rankings view) and merge those two entries into one (Note: You can only merge rankings of the same rank, so you have to merge the two [1] instances together.). That duplicate causes issues on the calculation totals.
So @Aranfan, @Aeondrac, and @useofstrike32, please use the full text the vote counter does silly things.
The incomplete votes do not harm the calculations; that sort of voting pattern is expected and accounted for.

For reference, here's the current tally I have. I had to tweak a bit of the code to fix an issue or two, so it might not match the current release program. (revised version is 1.1.11-a pre-release on Google Drive)

Top winner has changed a few times over the course of the vote.

@Kinematics, does the program have a way of showing scores or such for ranked votes? For example, right now I don't think theres any simple way to tell by how much the winning option is leading. It could be that the runners up are one vote away from winning, or that the winning vote is utterly crushing all other options. Is there any inbuilt way to tell?
