Shepard Quest Mk VI, Technological Revolution

Metagame knowledge (guessing) aside, don't any of you expect Revy would be curious?
No. I would expect her to be pissed.

Another invader coming into my home just like those fucking batarians and they think they're better than me? They think they can treat me like a child?! They think I haven't fucking planned for this?!

I Am Rebecca Shepard. I Am The Greatest Inventor Alive. I have Stolen The Fire Of The Gods And Forged It Into The Beating Heart Of My Empire.

AND I AM COMING FOR THEM.

Now where the hell did Conrad store the prototype for his black hole gun?

[X] You put overrides into the Neural Interface for just this reason! Use them! Get out.
-[X] And shut down the security server completely.
-[X] Then activate Tigers, and anything else we have lying around our Factories that haven't been picked up yet, and prepare for an assault.

changing my vote

Best compromise between caution and diplomacy.

while talking to them might not be bad, we are already speaking the same language. first contact package is kinda obsolete at this point.

Oh, well, yes. That too. One can be both, though
In-character Revy has even less reason to suspect an unknown alien intelligence. What she sees is a hacker who just took her to school, to the point that he hijacked her implants and tossed her in a VR sim against her will. Curiosity, for her, it's going to be a distant fourth place to anger, embarrassment, and likely fear, given her recent bout of confinement-based claustrophobia.

No, she wouldn't. The intruders may use any kind of BS as a distraction, it doesn't matter.

Welp, we are boned.

Well considering aliens are a thing, and whatever this is called her a flawed progressor child, it's probably not human. Whether it's a known alien race or not is a different question entirely.

On that note, figuring out which alien race is behind this attack should be a priority.

Edit: our more specifically, which faction, because there is a good chance this is not governmentally sanctioned, and blaming an entire race for the actions of a group of pirates is unfair (FOR EXAMPLE)

As a distraction for what? The research servers are closed off, and our own person is safe behind our suit. Maybe they just want to wreck our facility or something, but what would be the point?

And if the 'we're boned' comment was directed at me at all, keep in mind I haven't actually voted and my position is in the clear minority

To hack more fully into Revy's implants, for example, potentially installing malicious software there. To give their ground forces time to act while the primary target is occupied. Etc.

Or they are BSing inventing terms from scratch.

To expand more fully:
  1. They are hacking systems that we have specifically secured against remote access, as opposed to more public systems.
  2. They understand our computing technology, and our language, which implies they'd have to understand enough of our culture to know that hacking a secure site is not the proper way to initiate first contact.
  3. They have this big elaborate cityscape that they're loading into our brain without our consent, and are being condescending while they do it.
This is not an alien making first contact: this is a hacker pretending to be slick, trying to distract us with a "mysterious alien" scenario that a child would see through, let alone someone like Revy. We need to unplug; we need to prepare for the real threat; and we need to not over- or under-react to the very real threat posed by this hacker.

Problem: They're great at hacking.

We might not want to turn the tigers on. i assume we have defences against that, but we also had defences on our security systems.

There is little that can stand up to legionary suits on the ground; and almost nothing that we don't make. If we've crew for the tigers, sure. But no wireless access right now, please.

... unless we can only turn it on in person.

first off they are not physically present at their entry terminals.
second they responded at speeds impossible for humans without ANI.
third our ANI is blackboxed and has yet to be publically released that they hacked it show an advanced understanding of it's fundamentals.

The most reasonable conclusion is that we had a mole in the ANI development team (we didn't develop it completely alone, I think).

still doesn't explain that their access point is moving and there's no-one present at any access point unless someone managed to bug most of our security system and no-one noticed.

-[X] get the security servers to load first contact procedures and VR safety presentations

There's a great opportunity here to get more info on whoever is doing this and we're just throwing it away?

[x] Who ever this is seems willing to talk so you'll try that.
- [x] "Who are you? What do you want? Any reason you can't use a com like a regular person?"

Ok, adding one phrase shouldn't affect much.
