You don't have to copy paste the whole Bloodborne wiki, but a basic "This is what I have, this is what they can do" would be appreciated.

GENERAL NOTICE:
Making it to the OP doesn't mean you're in, it means your application is finalized and under consideration. This isn't first come first served, I'm looking for quality, not speed. Applications will remain open for least thru the weekend.
Understood I'll mostly be putting in a general list of items such as throwing knifes, poison knives, Blood vials and bolt/fire paper.

Will there be a waitlist? Don't think I'll make the submission deadline due to GRE prep/RP planning on the other place

The last problem I have is the immortality. I get that Saffron comes back as an infant, but still...I'm not a fan of unlimited respawns. If that goes, I'd say he's finalized.

@Wade Garrett Okay i've made some edits, how does this look to you
Gehrman, The First Hunter

Universe of Origin: Bloodborne

Abilities:
  • Super Human Speed: When the Hunters were conceived to combat the spreading plague of the beasts they emphasized speed in dealing with their monstrous foes, no doubt this was based on Gehrman's own fighting style that allowed him to achieve speeds beyond that of any normal man.
  • Enhanced Durability: Infused with blood that can be traced back to the ancient great ones Gehrman is able to survive wounds that no ordinary man should.
  • The Art of Quickening: An arcane art practiced by the first hunters, through it's use Gehrman can temporarily increase his already supernatural speed to even higher levels. While using this technique Gehrman is able to move at speeds that it almost seems like he is teleporting.
  • The Hunter's Dream: A dream landscape created by the moon presence and hosted by Gehrman, when activated it creates a reality marble of the hunters dream and allows the Moon Presence to join the fight (Locked until objective completed)
  • Messengers: Servants of the dream, they can be used to send simple messages and small items.
  • Wrath of Gehrman: An Eldritch technique that can only be performed within the hunter's dream or under the light of a full moon. After a short cast time Gehrman releases a shock wave around himself that would deal massive damage to his opponent regardless of magic resistance or defense.
  • Insight: The measure of one's understanding of the Eldritch truth Gehrman is able to look upon that which would drive an ordinary man mad and shake off the effects of all but the strongest of mental influences.

Weapon:
  • The Burial Blade: Trick weapon wielded by Gehrman, the first hunter."
A masterpiece that defined the entire array of weapons crafted at the workshop. Its blade is forged with siderite, said to have fallen from the heavens.
Gehrman surely saw the hunt as a dirge of farewell, wishing only that his prey might rest in peace, never again to awaken to another harrowing nightmare.
  • Hunter's Pistol: A gun wielded by Gehrman the first hunter, firing quicksilver bullets infused with blood it can deal massive damage to even servants and can stagger all but the strongest foes leaving them open for a visceral attack.
Consumables:
  • Blood Vials: Vials of special blood that when injected into the body heals wounds.
  • Fire/Bolt Paper: Course paper that can be used to apply Fire/Electricity damage to a melee weapon for a short time.
  • Bone Marrow Ash: Can be used to increase the damage of a single shot from a gun.
  • Throwing Knives: Sharp knives that while not able to do a lot of damage can injure and distract foes.
  • Poison Knives: Sharp knives lathered with a potent poison that can effect most types of foes.
  • Molotov Cocktail: A bottle filled with flammable liquid that can be used to set fire to foes.
  • Numbing Mist: A bottle filled with a strange concoction that numbs the body and prevents healing for a short time.

Personality: Gehrman is best described as a kind hearted old man who wishes for nothing more than to fullfil his purpose and grant peace to those who have lost themselves through either madness or something much worse. Willing to shoulder eternal imprisonment within the dream rather than allow another to continue to live in that nightmare. However don't mistake his kindness for ignorance, he know's all to well that sometimes drastic measures must be taken in order to end the nightmares that plague the world.

Do what you can, when you can, and we'll see how it goes.

For all practical purposes, I'd assume the ROB would send him back after that anyway. It's just a character quirk, really.

It's unclear whether the infant Saffron keeps his memories, he ages normally, and he doesn't get back to full power until doing some ritual thing in his homeland that makes him an adult(this is why Saffron is either very old or very young; timeline, he's been around a while, but he may actually be mentally 14 or so when he suddenly ages up to adulthood).

Best possible interpretation for him leads to unkillable baby. It's not even clear if he can revive again if he's in that state.

Oh, well. Been meaning to make this, anyways.

Vergil, Son of Sparda.

Universe of Origin: Devil May Cry.

Vergil is, first and foremost, a first-generation Cambion, a half-devil, son of the Legendary Dark Knight, Sparda. His blood, his lineage, already ensures that he stands above common men by principle, able to deal out and withstand hits that would destroy boulders with almost contemptuous ease. Much like his brother, Dante, his physiology allows him to withstand wounds that would be fatal for a normal human, such as a bullet to the head or a sword to his chest, and heal from them in what is nothing short of regeneration, so long as said wounds are not the result of magical weapons specifically made to fight against the supernatural, although even that his hard-pressed to damage him, and it can be said that only the strongest magical weapons can truly wound him, although he will be overwhelmed by mundane weapons so long as they pack enough punch or their numbers eventually overwhelm his regeneration.

Vergil is incredibly fast, able to cut bullets mid-air in a casual display of speed, and keep up with his brother, who displays the same feats. Another example of his speed is ability with his weapon of choice, the Devil Blade Yamato, with a slash from him being so quick that his enemies do not realize they have been cut until they fall into pieces after he seathes the blade.

He is also an expert in the Iaido-style of swordsmanship, centered around using the scabbard to block or parry, then unseathe the sword for a lightning-fast counter before returning the blade to the seath, where it will wait until the next time it is needed. He can use other styles, as well as other types of weaponry, but due to his preference for ending battles in a single stroke, he sticks to Iaido.

As far as esoteric abilities go, he is also a superb user of what is commonly referred to as Dark Slayer style, which centers around teleporting around the enemy, striking, then teleporting to another spot almost immediately thereafter in order to dodge and confuse enemies. The limits of this teleportation range to, at most, six to seven meters, so it is not useful out of combat.

He also posesses skill with Summoned Swords. These ethereal blue blades can be used in a variety of manners: either traditionally as 'bullets', so to speak, able to move at great speeds, or they may be organized into patterns around the user, such as a circle to protect him, or teleported to spin around the enemy for a scant few instants before stopping and launching towards the center, closing off nearly all venues of escape save for jumping if the enemy in question can react before being skewered. It should've noted that, although they can kill humans with ease, devils and supernaturals are hardy by nature and, as such, far more likely to shrug off all but the greatest barrages, although most tend to, at least, be momentarily slowed down.

Finally, Vergil posesses what is commonly referred to as Devil Trigger. In this state, he sheds his human appearance for a short time and takes on an appearance befitting his heritage, making it so that all his attributes, even his regeneration, are boosted to absurd levels, becoming able to shrug off and heal from nearly any sort of attack in a scant few seconds, as well as dealing further damage with each attack due to his augmented strength and reaching godly levels of speed. It should be noted that his coat becomes a part of himself, able to turn into a pair of leathery wings he uses to fly. Another thing to note is that each use is quite energy-intensive, so he will be exhausted for a time after he returns to his normal state. Fitting, given its nature as a trump card.

Vergil carries with him the Devil Arm known as Yamato, a sword which takes the shape of a Japanese O-Katana. Its sharpness is without peer, and it can cut nearly anything in its path with ease befitting its status, even the very fabric of dimensions. Only materials reinforced with the greatest of magic, blades of a standing on par with Yamato's own, such as Dante's Rebellion, are able to meet this sword's edge and come out of it without being cut apart, and even then, only the greatest can withstand it without being chipped off bit by bit every time they meet it. Vergil uses it with his already mentioned Iaido-style combat, and even a single swing from it can send shockwaves of compressed air sharp enough to cut thick stone perfectly. His greatest skill with it is a combination with his Dark Slayer style, a movement he enjoys to call Judgement Cut, in which Vergil teleports across the battlefield to deliver no less than a thousand slashes in an instant before seathing his sword. It should be noted that it can only be used inside Devil Trigger, and using it will end the transformation instantly.

He also posesses a pimptastic blue leather coat which regenerates no matter the damages it suffers.

Personality: Cold and aloof, Vergil firmly rejects the human side of his being due to considering it nothing but a weakness that drags him down, something to be purged from him in all its forms. Due to demon's attacking his family when he was a child, killing his mother and separating him from his brother in the proccess, Vergil blames himself for her death, wishing that he had been stronger, strong enough to protect her and drive them off. This has led to him becoming obsessed with his father's legacy, seeking to obtain Sparda's powers for his own, to the point of becoming the sole reason for his existence. He is a man that seeks power for the sake of power, having forgotten what prompted him to begin said search in the first place. This, and his rejection of his human heritage, would be one of the main reasons for his falling out with his brother.

Regardless of this, however, Vergil's second and possibly most defining trait is his honor. Vergil, in any and all situations, will strive to uphold his honor and will follow through on his word if he gives it, regardless of it possibly leaving him at a disadvantage later.

Judgement Cut nerfed to fifteen slashes per use at maximum, and his healing, while faster than a normal human's, is not enough to be anything of note in a fight at Servant level, although he is still mostly immune to mundane weaponry. Noble Phantasms and the like hurt him normally.

Devil Trigger can only be used for fourteen minutes at most, and reaching that limit will automatically turn Vergil to human form, left near-unconscious due to sheer exhaustion. Regardless of whether or not he reaches his limit, leaves the state willingly or uses Judgement Cut, thereby automatically ending DT, he will need to wait for time to pass if he wants to use it again, at the GM's discretion.

And there it goes. I made him pre-DMC3, and thus, he has not yet reached Teme-ni-gru or gotten a hold of Beowulf or Force Edge, although he is still incredibly skilled with Yamato and his Summoned Swords. I fully expect limits on the regeneration, but I have not set a time for Devil Trigger because I don't really know what could be considered a 'fair' amount of time for it, given that it can be considered Numeral of the Saint, only able to be activated at any time at the user's leisure. By gameplay, it only lasts ten seconds or so, while the manga has it last far more, but I am not sure. I'll leave it to the GM.

Basically, what bothers me with Gawain is him having three hours with triple the mana, during which he's sprinting around at triple the agility tossing off Galatine Blasts like Devil's Arm Hassan throws Dirks.
And then when those three hours are gone he keels over.

If it bothers you, just say that tripled stats require tripled maintenance so every bit of mana he gets from the Numeral goes to keeping it up, meaning he gains no advantage to his prana reserves from it.

You forgot one thing, Vergil's Honor. The guy is noted to be honorable to the very end so it should be listen under his personality.

You have no idea how tempted I am to say that your healing requires collecting crystallized blood from your victims and purchasing special items at an interdimensional shop...

Anyway, the instant regeneration has to go, that doesn't even make sense in universe. Arkham's plan to wear Virgil and Dante down by having them repeatedly fight each other so he could claim Sparda's power for himself wouldn't have worked if they both had Wolverine/Alexander Anderson style healing factors.

Judgement Cut needs to be brought more on the level of Tsubame Gaeshi or Nine Lives, a thousand strikes is a lot. A whole lot. Too much.

Eh, what I meant is that the tripled prana from NotS would cover his increased stats, so his upkeep stays the same. No Galatine-spamming, no Kariyaing the Master.

Can't say I didn't expect it, really. So, can survive most mundane weaponry with little trouble, but magical weaponry (a.k.a Noble Phantasms) will be able to harm him normally?

I would say that he would have a somewhat accelerated healing, at least compared to a human, but not quick enough to be worthy of note in a Servant-level fight.

Very well, given that Yamato is already sharp enough to slice through nearly anything, I have no problems with that. So... Fifteen-seventeen slashes max? It can only be done in DT, and doing it instantly ends it.

Also, on the DT time? I really don't know what would be fair.

So it seems that if we fight it will be a high speed battle, how do you think Vergil will fair against Gehrman?

*shrugs*

Gehrman doesn't give off dangerous vibes, so he would be able to catch Vergil by surprise at first if he does fight him, and that could be enough to get a good hit or two in.

That said, once Vergil regains his footing, odds would, at first glance, be stacked in his favour unless Gehrman calls the Moon Presence if he has the powerup. His speed, IIRC, is more of a 'short burst, then rest for a few seconds' type, while Vergil can cut bullets mid-air with Yamato easily in his human form and teleport with Dark Slayer, and he can deal damage from a distance with Summoned Swords or compressed air slashes from Yamato while not having any sort of ammo worries (not that anyone in Devil May Cry has ammo worries). Gehrman is poorly suited to fight Vergil straight up, and that's without considering DT.

Actually they should match up pretty well when it comes to speed since i'm using a Lore Gehrman so I won't be limited by game mechanics. So his speed would be a lot more consistent than just short burts.

Hm. Admiteddly, I am not that familiar with the lore behind Gehrman, since I only beat the game recently and I haven't had time to look over every little detail like I have in the Souls series, but I'll take your word for it. Still seems like a bad matchup to me, since you are pitting a Gehrman against a character whose own series runs off Rule of Cool, so that is bound to make things a bit... Difficult for Gehrman.

True but one thing that we should remember is that the Art of Quickening increases his speed to the point where he is practically teleporting, now instead of applying it to a dash consider what happens when you apply it to an attack. Also Gehrman is able to perform "Slash in front of you and send blades of air flying at your opponent." trick on his own.

Plus I do have several tricks up my sleeve such as Numbing Mist to counter healing factors.

Whoa, back up there.

Flash stepping Gehrman is one thing, "Gehrman is the Flash" is another kettle of fish.

Oh lawd, here we go again.

...

Would it be alright for me to use my Helena sheet from Oath / FINAL ?

The half angel smiter of things from Bayonetta? Sure. Mind posting her over here so I don't have to go trawling through the O:F thread?

Oh my mistake them I'll stick with short bursts then.

For the sake of clarity, generally I'm going to assume that "Really Fast People" like Gehrman, Vergil, Jetstream Sam, & Saffron are all of about equivalent bullet dodging bullshit speed, with stuff like the Quickening, Dark Slayer teleports, Blade Mode, etc giving them edges.

Being able to move so fast that you can't be perceived all the time is a bit, well...whoooaaa! Is the only way I can think to put it.

Alright so Art of Quickening is for short bursts got it, still apply that to a dash attack and boy that is going to be hard to dodge.

Gehrman has enough things in his bag of tricks to make things difficult, but as a counterpoint, I would like to offer Vergil's Dark Slayer, which is actual teleportation, and without it being restricted by gameplay, he can use it far more creatively than in the game, and it would be a godsend when it comes to dodging.

Vergil's DT can also increase the difficulty for Gehrman, given that you will then need to watch out for even further enhanced strength and speed when compared to his base bullet-dodging, and said Dark Slayer.

Not to mention that Summoned Swords can lend themselves to creative use, and Vergil can launch them pretty much whenever he wants. Even if they only do scratch damage compared to Yamato, which is another beast entirely.

I will admit to Gehrman not being hopelessly outclassed, given that Hunters pretty much fight against the odds every single time, and, hell, he pretty much wrote all the tricks in the book and must have kept some to himself, but Vergil is an entirely different type of game compared to what he is used to.

That said, we should stop making the thread look like it belongs on Vs. Debates ;)
