Field Commander [C&C/Worm]

Guys I think I accidentally deleted my vote tally when I was doing some clean up, and I can't find the vote tally thread. Someone mind pointing me towards it real quick?

I would consider your views and be willing to debate you on the matter.

I feel that we cannot rely on our grinder economy forever and that with tinkers and thinkers and a 30+ year to armageddon by green crystal window(far longer than even the best estimates before Scion goes insane and kills everyone), along with using concrete and walls to fence in tiberium fields, we can use it greatly as a resource that is desperately needed, both by ourselves and by the local governments of the world who are feeling the strain as the endbringers and parahumans slowly grind down their resources.

With us having access to the World Altering Missile basically confirmed by our GM, and it's use being solely limited on us managing to spread enough tiberium to make it viable, I feel that we should put some effort on selling divination as an idea to the governments of the world. And I feel that all this is worth the occasional idiot managing to get into a field or theft by a third party that lacks our superior tib harvesting and refining technologies.

Once we've established ourselves somewhat of course for all that.

You know had I joined in at the start of the Quest I would have followed you with the Tib Econ Idea just for the fact that we have better tools and we know what it can do...

Hmm? I know little of worm, but if it's true that the world is fucked anyway then there is no real reason to oppose the spread of Tiberium. I can't recall you having mentioned this before? (I have poor memory though) Is there no way to stop this?

less moralizing assholes
mass panic about the morality
I'm pretty sure I never brought morality into the issue. My main stance wsa the PR problems it would cause.
because some people thought that their voices counted more than others,
Not really, more like our voices were equal and as such could counter. As I mentioned, I only meant for the vote to stick around if A) Veekie never popped up to say anything to his defense, and B) A Policy vote never happened, so it wouldn't be a democracy thing, but simply a me vs him thing. Two wasted votes, that's all that would have came from the latter.
Maybe if some of the anti-slavery people backed down from the vote and apologized for their poor behavior, people might be willing to change their slave miners to more efficient units better for our current situation?

Just an idea.
While I didn't apologize, I did explain why I felt as such and did change my vote at the earliest opportunity.
instead of say, TALKING to the guy that had that vote up in a respectful manner.
I tried, he was otherwise pre-occupied apparently. By, in his words, "sleeping, being asleep, driving or in a meeting". And when he was available, he apparently took the attempts at contact as meaning he shouldn't say anything.

Anyways, UltimatePaladin wanted the Tally

-[X]Plan Scout 1.0 - Begin a more through and comprehensive scouting/searching of the areas of Coalition territory that will soon be contested by criminal parahuman gangs (namely Fenrir's Chosen and Coil and his confederates). But first, begin doing a through and comprehensive scouting of territory that is fully under Coalition control (namely the Boat Graveyard). From there begin doing the same thing to the Docks (an area where Coalition territory is adjoined with the territories of Fenrir's Chosen and Coil, particularly the southern portion of the Docks), and thus is an area that has the potential to be contested by the aforementioned Fenrir's Chosen and Coil. Note both groups's disposition, numbers (especially the number of human and parahuman members in each gang), and other things such as: whether they are well armed or not; how much control and influence they have of their respective territories; what kinds of illegal activities each group are openly engaging in; how is their presence in the area and their control of their territories have contributed to preventing the PRT from sending supplies and other disaster relief activities to other areas of the city, etc. Since both groups have parahuman members make sure to identify as much as possible each of the members of the two groups, but do it discreetly and covertly. If you have time, do a through and comprehensive scouting/search of the Trainyards, the Market, and even the Boardwalk. As always, avoid anything and anyone that might impede the mission including avoiding the dog catchers of the local animal control department.

That was the estimates by various future readers, I'm reading through Worm fully as we play in this quest.

I don't know the canon ending yet and such, but I'm not too terribly upset by the idea of spoilers so others can feel free to discuss it.

With our appearance of course, everything is thrown into flux. And who knows what else has possibly been added?

I'm more relying on the fact that tiberium is a great resource if handled properly and that we can someday immunize the world against it's harmful effects, along with the world's current situation for my argument rather than what might happen in canon of Worm.

Ideally, we'd want to set up tiberian on another Earth. The only people that can facilitate that is Cauldron.

(Or Scrub + Labyrinth. Unfortunately this convoluted as fuck so we won't see it unless someone else starts it. Also, we likely dominoed Scrub from existence.)

Now that vote is locked. I think on Tiberium the main hazard is the stuff being taken and spread by some idiot cape, which may include Cauldron trying to Door a sample.
As for how alien it is to Entities?

Recall that Entities harvest a planet for energy by:
-Transforming the planet to some form of high energy crystals
-Detonating it and gathering the released energy.

Sounds familiar to C&C dudes?

So I wouldn't bet on it being OCP to Entities or even damaging to their plans at all.
Medium scale tiberium farming is potentially safe, if conducted inside sealed areas, and with failsafe sonics to shut it down. Those aren't cheap either. It's a tradeoff between safety and economy pretty much, Tiberium economy is ludicrously cost effective if you don't care about collateral damage.

Planetary scale Tiberium farming...not so sure. Once it displaces the whole biome Tiberium stops being just a deadly moneybin and starts getting REALLY weird

So since slavery technically survived because of a vocal minority does that mean the coalition will eventually fight civil war sometime down the line between The North and South Brockton Bay areas of the coalition ;)

So I've had an idea that might work if we want to have our Tib cake and eat it to. Why not deploy some Tib from a hidden Nod base under a gap generator on another continent? No-one would know it was there until we let them.

No argument there, Tiberium is a wonderful resource with almost no short term consequences.

But gambling the future of the planet on our ability to control it? That is a far too risky play for me.

Oh well, we will cross that bridge when you get there.

Save for the 'on another continent' part, that was my plan for the Nod base(until I realized just how desperate local governments are).

But hey, we could invade South America, I recall it's fallen into absolute chaos with only parahuman warlords there.

The planets future is total societal collapse, and like 70%+population death. This planet will devolve into tribal and warlord based countries unless we do something, and the only realistic way to do that is to have some resource that evens it out for us, being glorified garbage disposals is not enough if it was the factions in C & C would not have been so enamored with Tib.

I was for the Grinder Econ because it was FAR EASIER to get not because it was better, more reliably got, in other words a nice stop-gap.

Save for the 'on another continent' part, that was my plan.

Russia is dead too. I can't imagine Canada or Australia is doing well or many of the other countries that have had their major Economic centers destroyed.

Say do we have plans for a tibuerium missiles cause wasn't there one guy that took over a town and had to be walled off from the rest of the world?

Think of it this way... Worm Earth is fucked... Not just Fucked but Mega Fucked...

1) You have 'Para'Humans with powers fucking everyone over when they get a chance e.g. Coil & Cauldron

2) The Endbringers Fucking over Major Cities every 6 months or so... That place of Big Industry and Economic power just gone...

3) Scion &/Or other Entities showing up

Save for the 'on another continent' part, that was my plan.

But hey, we could invade South America, I recall it's fallen into absolute chaos with only parahuman warlords there.
I believe that would be Africa.

South America, meanwhile...
That which is the case in America is almost the inverse in South America. The government supports villains and heroes are working against the system and the general leaning of society to get a foothold. They're frequently romanticized and played up, and image/public appeal is a weapon/propaganda tool/means of survival, when one might need frequent hiding places or assistance in getting shit done. You know how Skitter dealt with the Mayor and Triumph? That was business as usual in South America, if things weren't worse. Then the local powers bent their heads and dropped to their knees and agreed to play ball. There's a big divide between public and powers.

Russia is dead too. I can't imagine Canada is doing well or many of the other countries that have had their major Economic centers destroyed.
Russia is still around.
There isn't a Russian equivalent to the PRT. If you were moving forward with that, it'd be pretty much pure fanfiction.

In-setting, Scion stopped the Cold War. With the end of the war, there was widespread destitution (one out of every five people had been employed as part of the military/war.). There was perhaps a bigger backlash against parahumans than elsewhere, as a result of Scion's actions and perceptions of parahuman vs. communism. Where the C.U.I. achieved total control over their parahumans, Russia set something of a parahuman vs. human structure in place. Parahumans that might have been mundane elsewhere were driven to scary extremes by the hatred and persecution.

The economic reforms that crippled Russia in Aleph's 90s were made to work by a parahuman in government in Bet, and this did a lot to pacify authorities and shift the 'us vs. them' mentality. In the end, the military adopted parahumans to better fight other parahumans, then absorbed them into the greater structure.

You thus have three groups at play.

Elitnaya Armiya - The Army's elite. Think Metal Gear - trained soldiers supported by scary superhumans, as part of Russia's military-industrial complex. The mentality is highly adversarial; these aren't parahumans who play nice with other parahumans, and this includes them not cooperating with other members of the Elitnaya. There's a lot of politicking and backstabbing going on behind the scenes (to the point that Russia is almost divided in four), and each member of the Elitnaya maintains ties to certain sub-factions, individuals and interests. Favor is curried, and virtually every mission the Elitnaya are mobilized to involves hidden motivations and sub-goals in service of sponsors and secret masters (human, not Master). Put two of these guys on the same mission, and their interests may collide. Keep in mind, these guys got their start being used to hunt other parahumans. The relationship is largely 'shoot identified parahumans on sight', or, in the case of Elitnaya vs. Elitnaya, waiting until they're in private before orchestrating one another's murders. This is actively curried by the people in power, as it means the parahumans can't band together to control society, overtly or otherwise, as it is in America.

Red Gauntlet (Krasnaya Perchatka) - The only group in Russia where people work together. They're mercenaries, and depending on the lens one uses to view the situation, you could say they're really the ones in power in Russia. When the witch hunting was active, Red Gauntlet formed as a band of friends and family with powers, attempting to survive. They gained power, gained strength, and gained leverage. Initially serving the Russian government as the precursor to what would be theElitnaya, Red Gauntlet was bought out by the Eritreans in the second Eritrean War for Liberation, and thereafter settled into a role as mercenaries. Where things are otherwise balanced, Red Gauntlet's ability to accept or refuse jobs basically cements it as a deciding factor or power in the political discourse. The daughter of one of the founding members, Rukavitsa, presently leads. She was arguably the catalyst for the group's formation, she's romanticized and beloved in Russian culture, her group is hated by local government, and while she hears out any argument, she'll ultimately make the calls that Red Gauntlet follows.

Dno - The Underworld, includes the various Bratva. The unwritten rules in Russia's underworld are different - parahumans don't fight parahumans. Only the Elitnaya and foreign powers are fair game (and are the ultimate reason for the rule - if you fight amongst yourselves, you're too weak to stop the Elitnaya). This makes for strangely honorable scenarios where two parahumans might come across one another in a firefight and call a temporary ceasefire, or completely ignore one another. Those who've survived within the Dno are generally smart, merciless, and scary. When new parahumans show up, they're brought before a group, tested, and if they prove worthy, are freed to join whomever. Those that fail, refuse to join a group or who are deemed too damaged are liable to be executed.

I guess you could say there's a fourth group - the other individuals who couldn't be rounded up, tested, or recruited.

Overall, Russia has suffered more at the hands of Endbringers and S-Class threats than most, and it was the lack of faith in the government's ability to protect the people (and the aftermath of losing Moscow) that led to the fall of the U.S.S.R. and rise of other forces. It has less parahumans and less structured organization than most, so it tends to respond to Endbringer or S-Class threats with military strength more than most other national players.

Russia leverages the Elitnaya and sometimes Red Gauntlet to participate in conflicts around Europe and Asia, and the military-industrial complex is, well, it's not thriving, but it's not failing either.

Go to sleep and find out people were talking of civil war over slave vote. Ha!

Anyways why not Tib? World canonly ends in 2ish years. We need everything we can get before then.

While this isn't the place for yet another Cauldron morality debate;

Regardless of which side you sit on about them, point 1 is blatantly wrong.

Did it? I thought UltimatePaladin revised his position on non-voters, and that they should be counted as abstaining.
No, he was debating whether people voting to abstain should be counted as non-voters or just added with the rest for not caring.

Otherwise you wind up with the silly thing of the guy who had the original Slave Miner vote considered to be abstaining :V

I was debating whether people who were non-voters should be counted as abstain, since looking back, that has been precedent for this quest.
I think it would be good to. Especially since a clear majority is in favor of it, 64.9%. Not the 66.666% you set the goal for, but pretty darn close.
That makes it trivial to slip in Policy votes if you show up at the end of voting phases with one though. Everyone else would count as abstaining.
Maybe require it so earlier in the voting. Or, if it gets enough support, open up a second official vote specifically for the Policy.

Say do we have plans for a tibuerium missiles cause wasn't there one guy that took over a town and had to be walled off from the rest of the world?
...

You want to shoot a tiberium chemical missile at a biotinker known for creating armies of monsters that the army of US and A was unwilling and unable to eliminate even with their entire resource-base?
Tiberium fiends and visceroids, everywhere*
