... Uh, Toboe? We're upgrading 4 Songs and 5 Melodies this turn.

Now that we know how hard Tier 2 Songs can cook, and depending on how well these things work, we might very well be able to get to the point where we can commit a melody training every turn after this.
But what are the chances that we actually pick up certain melodies?
I think they want Paths specifically, though I forget why. It was in my plan because I didn't value struggle highly but I don't have strong opinions.
Because lacking it blocks a handful of song ideas.
A handful of song ideas that could be very effective if they pan out.

I'll commit to promising Paths in the next Melodies push then. And there's a lot of will to do that now.

But I want to upgrade all of our core infrastructure Songs while we can.

I kinda want to see if we can do some dev next turn. Agriculture is mighty tempting to just rush to X because of how close it is. It will depend on how many actions we have though

Edit: Or this one

[] [Faith] The Penitentia Rite
Implicitly allowed by a Conclave of the Droman Creed, it is time for the priests and Hymnals of the Federation to learn about and put into practice the safe creation of Penitentias, those whose soul and body have been entirely given to the judgment of the Star Child for crimes unforgivable by mortals, yet judgeable by their willingness to repent and be potentially erased by the disgust of the Unborn Divine.
(Gain: Penitentia Rite.)

This one may not be useful but it is something we did promise to look into and legitimized so might as well gain it for...well I am assuming it's gonna be a new type of unit that can be recruited(Cerberus is still hunting cults after all and boy howdy they might use it for that)

Edit2: Actually the rite is interesting because there is a lot of crimes that people commit that for dumb laws or things out of their control. Like being a "unstable psykers" is a crime but how is that their fault? Or even accidentally being part of the cult? This could let our execution laws be less execution-esque because those souls could just now become a "Penitentias" and just live about in the Federation rather than go and die

@HeroCooky would that be such a use case?

I'd kind of like to sing a ton of songs in the immediate future. Remember, after 10 we unlock symphonies!

Also, we have enough level II melodies at this point to be able to sing a number of songs at level II.

I don't disagree either. We have gotten a lot of breathing room thanks to some of the songs we got. We absolutely should do more(Find more STCs song)

Yeah, if we get upgraded Dendrites and it gets us perpetual two for one, I'd rather push to clean up our Infrastructure limitations. 6 AP is still pretty god damn steep, even if it approaches the realm of feasibility.

Psykana + Map Updated. Writing Update.
Soooo close. it was TWO. TWO off from a Holy Turn. that 53 ahhhhhhhhhhhh.

Turns out songs are good actually.

But also yeah, this is different from what was originally suggested. Odd.
Yahhh it is different from the name and vibe when I wrote that down in the Song Combo list. and Songs are good, we just negelcted it and only do the Songs people ask the QM for in terms of 'what kind of song would do X?' when we were grasping at straws or looking for any advantage. Songs are a Core mechanic that can affect a lot more areas.

Here is what glint used to do.
So the lvl up doubled the per choir effect and the number of choirs that can sing it.
sounds about right and what we can expect for songs upgraded. I wonder how that would make the Travel and Communicate songs?

Oops, missed that. The Devouring Mechadendrite doesn't affect Research. Fixed that. Thanks for pointing that out!
Awwwww, that would have been great. Oh well, lets see what we got and what it does.

Industry must expand to meet the ever-increasing demands of industry.
Technology must match the stride of progress to support frames rotting under the march forced upon them.
Idle hands cannot exist when work abounds.
All things increase when the feed is bountiful enough.
Ohhhh nice Art of it very mechanical and feeding into the Name of the song with looking like circuits and nodes.

and the text associated with it, I kinda forgot each level up of the Melodies changes the image and text as well so I'll do those another day, but it does match a Song focused on Industry, Industries feeds Technology, Technology improves the base of Industry, and elevates the workers to do more so long as the Feed is there. Always love seeing this mechanic in action and what images and text you come up with for them.

The Devouring Mechadendrite - Each Choir assigned to this Song grants an extra 1% Progress to [General] Actions, Research Excluded, up to 50%.
...Oh. OH that is a lot. And Damn! I guess we can't expect that to stack with Research but it would have been amazing. Still the fact of Fifty Percent increase and stockpile for general actions.

Bound To The Stars - Song III, Humanity, Protection II, The Sun II, The Home, Fire II
A Web Of Song - Protection II, Song III, Unity, Fire II, The Sun II, The Home
A Glint of Genius - Technology II, Progress II, Creativity II, Hope II
Turn Their Eyes Away - Silence, Protection II, Grounding, Perception
Break Your Chains - Struggle, Fire II, Humanity, Unity, Hope II, Song III
The Devouring Mechadendrite - Technology II, Progress II, Creativity II, Logic, Song II
Alright so because I never went and saw we could just use this to check the Melodies that make up a song. I'd rather get Web Of Song and Bound To The Stars to Level Two first before anything else, like seriously just get some basics up. For that we need to get do Humanity, The Home, and Unity. so its within an Action to do. Other Melodies for songs to be upgraded would be Silence, grounding, Perception, Struggle, and Logic.

I love that we're getting so big that most of our fuck ups are just bureaucratic errors.

Hi! Sorry, we've accidentally taken over your planet because of a minor miscommunication between two of our departments, please forgive us! Or, oh, I'm sorry, we've accidentally assigned the majority of our Choirs to an automated program set up centuries ago that we lost track of, oopsie.
LOL. We have finally reached Imperium levels of Paperwork and Bureaucracy, where rounding errors and one Zero removed or added cause far reaching and mind boggling consequences of knock on effects. or heaven forbid we lose a document or spreadsheet and it results in a SBG or Several SAG's not receiving any supplies or the wrong shipments or the 'So THAT's where all our X were going to' due to people stopped checking and tracking resources and current standing forces or ships.

That's why you get a whole 4, after accounting for the ones gained after 500.M43 dying due to old age.
I do feel that is something people need to take into account with that it takes a hundred or two hundred years to train these choirs and then they live for a few hundred more but they do die. it is a slow replenishment rate and based on population in the billions to one ratio. Also the fact it takes choirs stationed on each planet or station in a system as well the choirs on the ships to guide the fleets. It's not surprised as before we had a big surplus of these.... Wait did we ever put that The Celestial Orrery on the Scout ships? You know, the ones that showed the planets and major bodies of a system from a few systems over?

Update on the Military Capabilities of the Black Ash Clan
During the years since their war with the Croaf Hegemony, the Black Ash Clan has managed to acquire several achievements, the least of which is the complete restoration of the Avenger Class Grand Cruiser taken as a prize from the Hegemony during their war, with notable achievements being the uplift of the worlds of The Disk, Vlooololot, and Streic Omega to a Low Imperial level of technology. Thanks to these and the repairs done on the shipyards of The Disk, their fleet has doubled in size, with Light Cruisers being constructed continuously of ~5 per decade, with ~10 Destroyers or Frigates in the same timeframe. It should be noted here that, though still harking back to their past as members of the Imperial Mechanicum, the Mechanicum Black Ash Clan has engaged in various techno-heresies, the most egregious of which is the changing of the Dauntless Mk2's Light Macro-Cannons to Medium Rotary Macro-Cannons and exchanging its Light Double Macro-Cannon Turrets with Light Triple Macro-Cannon Turrets. In addition, a new Frigate is being produced by the Clan, a 1.8km long ship with 4x80m Torpedos, one Light Rotary Macro-Cannon, and additional Anti-Voidcraft Defenses.
Okay wow, they managed to build themselves up a bit. So those systems to Low Imperial Level are the ones below Brauns and damn, considering how they were before and the freighters or large ships that weren't under the Black Ash Clan being 'free cities' they had to negotiate with to move their forces around to now being able to make Light Cruisers on the regular each turn with escorts but also able to make Heavy Cruisers if need be? they've improved and put a LOT of effort, or maybe just paid the Black Cats to, in maintained and keeping that Grand Cruiser intact and it IS something we want to try to keep that way if we absorb them or have to war with them.

Okay why is changing the Micro cannons up a number or grade a Heresy? at least they stopped being completely against change or modifying stuff. Oh so not a flak frigate but they are including Anti-Voidcraft on it. not a bad frigate honestly.

Additionally, they have begun on a "husband" ship to the 'Black Goat' (we are uncertain why they have decided to "marry" the two vessels together) in the Disk shipyards, called 'Dread Baron' and based upon their updated Dauntless Mk2 design.

On the note of the Black Ash Clan, a newly promoted data specialist within the culture section of SIIC has made an interesting proposal. According to them, the Black Ash Clan, a Feudal Autocracy whose culture can be summed up as "Matriarchal Knight Houses" in three words, would be more susceptible to having its worlds taken without bad blood erupting than previously assumed.

The data specialist noted that if we were to not merely introduce ourselves but also deliver a gift of 100 Karnivores to the Black Ash Clan within the same move, we would be able to disguise our efforts to turn Brans as the local population, acting as a gateway to each other's nation, being taken by the Federation. Particularly if we include some carefully curated media focused on the Knight Orders of our nation. This, in turn, may allow us to turn the world by having the local nobles declare the Right of Secession in favor of the Glimmering Federation and aid them in the upcoming Honor Duels to let them emerge victorious, with everyone's honor intact and the banner of the world raised to a new "Queendom
I... that's bit odd but if you feel the ships as animals or steeds it makes sense? it would certainly fit the culture if some ships are designed to be paired up to cover their weaknesses or support each other, it would be a neat little cultural thing for them.

Ohhh, interesting and thank you QM for throwing us a bone. It does make sense if there is a Right of Succession and a border world that has seen what the Federation has to offer and has something similar enough to their way of life in the shape of the Knight Orders, add in the amount of Karnivores we can seemingly give away of course it would make sense for some nobles to do that.

If one were to talk about the communion with the Star Child that the Federation undertook when it failed to reach a consensus on how to deal with the Eleven Spirits, one needed to talk in metaphors, as trying to describe the interactions taking place in the Warp because of that communion with a yet-unborn deity would be fruitless at best, insanity-inducing at worst.

So let us imagine that the various parts of the Star Child were office workers put into a still-under-construction office by the CEO, with the Branch Manager yet to arrive at the building due to being lost on the highway system after an orgy of daemonettes stampeded into a newly opened Gothtopic.
Hah, 'Metaphors' so the QM can do fun things or just cheese it to write less. but yah when put like that with trying to contact a not-yet-born Entity in the present...yah.

Oh boy that already is off to great start, still constructing the HQ and having the office workers doing their job as it still is being built and the Branch Manager.... I don't think that's the Star child but interesting the boss of the workers aren't there yah. So Workers in a Office still being built, that is hell for a lot of things and annoyances like you don't know if they will need to cut the water or electricity at all and all the noise and half finished rooms you are using.

So when these office workers got an email from one of their top five clients and customers, it was immediately opened and looked at. Only for the case worker to realize they didn't know how to answer the question asked for, and so bumped it up to their supervisor.

Said supervisor noticed the email, read through it, and had a moment of crisis before bumping it up to their supervisor.

Said supervisor then called an all-hands meeting to deal with the question.

It was, swiftly, decided that it was above their paygrade, and they bumped it up to the Branch Manager.

...

...

...oh god, they aren't answering.

The office caught fire, and two tribes formed in the ruins of the building, rejecting modernity by returning to primitivism. The overgrown ruins were soon home to pastures, woods, fields, and song and dance.

The last act of the workers, though?

Send back an answer that boiled down to: "As long as they don't have human worshippers, we cool."
HAH, the top five clients being Iconoclast factions and one of them phoning in for customer support, kept kicking up the chain, did a all hands meeting..... and ended up in the same situation we did and this time the Branch Manager isn't there or can be contacted. Andddd there is return to monkey, didn't see that coming, did we throw a fire bomb into the plans and structure of the star Child's stuff due to that?

Oh lovely, that works out fine.... So just keep those 11 spirits to the moths only but what about the Mashan Temple Authority.... what exactly is their religions again?

Somewhere in space.

"Cryptek."

"Yes, Phaeron Sylphetk the Ebon?"

"Where are we."

"...in space?"

"Where in space."

"...thereabouts?"

"Crypetk."

"Yes, my Phaeron?"

"You gestured at an entire quadrant of space."

"..."

"You may now run. You have five seconds before I hunt you down for getting us lost. Again."

"Most gracious, my Phaeron."
Oh boy they've repaired to done enough to move around now.... in space which you kinda need coordinates and know where you are heading. Should we worry about the Fact they're out looking for the ships we looted and the Hidden World Engine we know of? I just hope the Ashan families didn't do something to the thing as we are absorbing them.

-[] Minaturized Irrita Translation Algorithm
(Gain: The Irrita can now talk to other Federation species without requiring large, bulky, and specialized translators.)
oh sweet, that would be a good QoL improvement for them. Maybe leads into something else, not sure what that would be though.

[] The Grand Gift( Poison) (0/2)

(Warning: Both Action Costs must be paid in the same Turn.
Gain: The Branus system could be turned, if the Honor Duels are won, to the Federation with relations with the Black Ash Clan intact.)
haha, I get it. It would seem like a generous gift or just being rich assholes and flaunting the well in a 'look how much I can give away as a gift and its nothing to me ohohohoho'. Still given warpacks are....I think 3 or 5 per pack and there are 5 packs inside a warpack and we can create 15 warpacks with one action, that's about 225 for the 3 per pack one and 375 for 5 per pack? Am I right on that or did I mess up? fucking hell that would be less then an action's worth. Yah given we have the Knight Orders working on new equipment I would say to either help speed that up and then do this or do it the turn after they finish the new equipment.

Van Zandt Free Duchy
Current Relations: Extreme Malding
Trend: Slow Upwards Movement
Modifiers: N/A
Oh shit, it IS getting better and them just Malding like 'damn it why aren't you massing on the border so we can justify you being a threat and attack right away and do this already'

I still say this is worth a Write-in, if not for setting up Iconoclast Break away state to use as a buffer then to keep up relations as we just keep things as is.

[] [Psykana] Conduct Four Melodies (0.8/1 - Auto Complete) - [Choose Melodies]
The Celestial Choir has been given the means; with time, they shall conduct their songs. They will listen to the Warp and filter out the false whispers from the slumbering guidance of the Star Child. In halting prayer and stumbling humming, the truth will be stripped until nothing but it remains in the hands of those who shall make it anew into power to be wielded by the Choirs to come. As there are 10 Celestial Choirs free to pursue research, the High Council can ask them to pursue a target instead of what comes close. This will, naturally, be lost once they dip below 10 Choirs.
(Total: 36
Uncovered: Technology III, Revenant.
Secret: Slumber, Silence II, Perception II, and Grounding II.
Star Child: Hope III, Compassion II, Humanity II, Mercy II, Creativity III, Health II, Unity II, Innovation II, Machinery II, Logic II, Progress III, Protection III, Justice II, Wisdom II, The Sun III, The Home II, Death II, Ruthlessness II, Brutality II, Fire III, and Love.
Kil'drabi: Paths, The Void II, Struggle II, Community, and Family.
Irrita: Growth, Plants, Harmony, and Hunger.
Gain: Four Melodies newly Conducted.)
Oh shit, Autoticker almost done here and we just need Logic to upgrade another one of the songs. then again we do have Four melodies per one action... ahhh a bunch of choices but I'd like to complete the Kil'drabi and Secret trees just to have them.

So, idea here.

- 2*Psykana
- Technology, Progress, Creativity, Logic
- Logic , Humanity, Home, Hope
- Free Psykana : [Free choice?]

This upgrades

The Devouring Mechadendrite - Technology II, Progress II, Creativity II, Logic, Song III => To lvl 3
Bound To The Stars - Song III, Humanity, Protection II, The Sun II, The Home, Fire II => To lvl 2
A Web Of Song - Protection II, Song III, Unity, Fire II, The Sun II, The Home => to lvl 2
A Glint of Genius - Technology II, Progress II, Creativity II, Hope II => to lvl 3
Yah that's good, and I'd be behind that. I want to get the Web Of Song and Bound to stars up to see if that speeds up the messages and travel time or what.

Also, we got an opportunity to spend 2 AP to ninja Branus honorably, at least if we win the honor duel.

Anyway, we're not quite at the point where we can do that, so we'll focus on some other important details. Van Zandt's gone up again from loathing to malding, but I'd like to have our fleets ready before the cease-fire ends.
agreed and we should get those Anti-Dutchy fleets ready sooner then later, just in case. Maybe use an write in to do more diplomacy with the Dutchy.

Well...our rock friends to the north...kinda have....human worshippers...yeah...less likely yes but uhhh....it's already gonna be an issue later
My worries as well, thing is this was for Warp Spirits having a religion and followers, Not sure of the Mashan Temple Authority and what their religion is exactly. Something to keep in mind but might be something to not poke.

It is specified that it boosts [General] Actions, Research Excluded, not any other category.
awwww, well its still something. General Actions include Terraforming, Colonizing, Development, the Planetmaw, and the diplomacy or subversion actions. So we will have something to do.

Did so. No Chaos or Faith proc.
yah we were so close with a 53.

YOU SAW NOTHING! DEFINETLY NOT ME ACCIDENTALLY DELETING THIS ACTION!!!

Edit: Also, the Red was due to not taking the Action leading to a Heresy getting spawned.
HAH, and here we thought it was a one time use only or something big happened.

Well, clearly they're not human then.

Wacky things like that happen. Sometime a human is a 9 foot tall lizard, sometimes an alien is looks like a dude in a weird shirt.
Hah... That does check out for 40k and it could make complete sense depending on the context.

It would have been an "Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh, can't you idiots not stop being heretics for FIVE MINUTES?!" heresy.
Sounds about right with how easy it is to do.

Yeah, the real crazy shit is how Mechadendrites makes building that god damn giga-ship possible. I love it.
it really does and we will be doing a lot of diplomacy or developments. hell even the terraforming are an easy way to grind it.

Where's that picture of that tiny guy staring at the large lady? Cause that will be your Karnivores to their Knight Wardens, Paladins, and Errants. So "rag on them" would be...unkind.
Oh right.... those. WAIT.

C'mon, all we had to do was abuse the GM's dementia, we could have had it! FOR FREE!

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Love you Cooky.
Nah, as much as it would be the dice goblin way to do that, lets have some standards, that said this is the fate of a lot of QM after a certain point where the bookkeeping becomes a monster in itself.

1. Hold on Qm, Do we have to spend an action to make sure those equipment we have for our Karnivores are compatible and work with their Knights? or rather would we have to upscale it and train the pilots siding with us on how to use it? or would that choice in the Duel be taken care of by the two actions?

@HeroCooky would that be such a use case?
Sorry to pop your hopes, but becoming a Penitentia would be...very much an undesireable state of living. You will turn those souls too far gone for other methods into a Penitentia and then put them into a time-freeze box to unleash upon your foes as suicide-chargers later. It will not allow them to live as people. It is a, literal, repentance with their life to guard their immortal souls.
would that choice in the Duel be taken care of by the two actions?
It would be handled in a sub-turn before the duels.

Damn never mind. We will take this...later. Much much later

Probably after making a song to make sure that nobody with survivor guilt abuses the system
There is a distinct difference between "We literally cannot save you from Chaos, unless you put your soul into the hands of the Five United Yet Divided" and "Mental State that'd immediately get noticed before any preparations for the rite begin."

Yeah, we already have decent mental healthcare (at least in comparison to the Imperium) and in Cerberus' first century of the 100,000 cultists they busted, only 5,000 had to be killed. If we had this Rite back then, this Rite would only be available for those 5,000.

For the people who get offered the Rite, it's literally this or death.
