Begin sending more covert specialists and indeed med-techs, to in Hives where support is still weak recruit the less vicious and irredemable gangers, give them purpose and a new mission, begin building up a local army and transforming the landscape... and also using this to survey the landscape in another way, identifying dangerous points of potential resistance, those gangs that cannot be treated with or taught a better way... and even worse, the PDF and other such forces, the Captains of Industry, the whole of what will resist... for later and further actions.

    • "Stupid moms," Jarra muttered, kicking a stone along the ground. A puff of dust and dry earth slowly flew away on the gentle breeze as it settled unnoticed by the boy grumbling onward.

    "I don't want to make this my home; I had a home!" He continued to complain, kicking the stone again, letting it fly farther than before as it skipped once, twice...and only twice, much to his annoyance. "Stupid desert world, stupid canyons, stupid moms, stupid everything!"

    Stopping, the boy looked around and noticed that he was quite a bit away from his "home" and the small settlement his mothers had dragged him to, and took a breath; "FUCK YOU!" 'Fuck You, fuck you. fck uu' echoed his voice after the shout, the sound traveling from wall to wall.

    Panting, with his lungs emptied for the shout of anger and dismay, Jarra noticed with some satisfaction that some of the stones along the walls had come loose. It may be a minor victory over nature, but it is something he can grasp onto.

    Walking on, the boy kicked the stone again, and again, and again, losing himself in the act of gradually emptying his mind of everything by focusing on the simple task of kicking the stone upon the ground until...

    'thunk-thunk-thunk-thunk' it fell into a cave, dropping down and out of sight of the sun's light. Grabbing his flashlight from his belt, Jarra flicked it on and peered into the cave, his stone somewhere even further below than he could see within the sharp beam illuminating the stone below.

    Waiting, he stood, indecisive and uncertain, wondering if he should go after the stone. It was his stone, but he could probably find another...wait.

    Funny thing is, this is the Responsible Thing to Do even if someone's in danger. You don't go into a dangerous place yourself, you Get Dudes.

    The important thing is if this turns out to be a hunting ground for Dark Space Elfs, at least they'll be attacking a fortified homestead instead of villagers who aren't on alert.

    That is not something that is there to be friends.

    And we still have no idea why this place is empty despite apparently being a Holy Region based on the names, and Prime Real Estate to boot.

    This is not something for a literal child to investigate

    Yeah when something in a cave on a recently settled is calling/singing out for "help" it's best to leave it be and inform someone. Especially in 40k where it's more likely something that can kill you in seconds.

    well that is on Grace of the Hymns if I am right with mention of Canyons and deserts. and from the viewpoint of child who didn't want to go on a colony mission and something singing down there... sadly we couldn't have choirs here for it so a gamble then.
