[x] Mandatory Medical Education

Frankly I think augmentics is going to be the easiest to replicate with research and work.

Otherwise I'm torn: the practicality of having les AP spent on "we need to bring medicine up to snuff… again" or the glorious in character fluff of excellent medical care for everyone + the "fuck Nurgle" which I'm always here for.

Let the luck of the draw decide, I suppose.

[x] Equalized Healthcare

I don't see us rapidly invading everything, so mandatory seems a little unnecessary. Equalized seems more like our play style, xenos friends so we make sure we all have good medicine.

Also it's just good long term and prevents long term problems. I'd rather we focus inwards than focus on outwards expansion. Also screw nurgle.

Mandatory is also a focus on reliable/resilient health care.

On "I'd rather we focus inwards than focus on outward expansion":
Look at our war with Neon.
If we want to liberate those planets we will have to integrate them. Which, without mandatory medical education will be a catastrophy.
If we have 5 planets with each costing 1 med infra that would take us to med 0 infrastructure. Aka "one reduction away from collaps of med infra".

  • Quintura Diablo
    • Diablo Major
    • Diablo Minor
  • Brigath
    • Brigath Primus
  • Malras Zeta
    • Zeta
  • Sagst
    • Sagst
Thats 5 planets in the region we are currently fighting in.
2 of those we are actively fighting for. (Diablo Major&Diablo Minor)

If we don't integrate them, we are condemming them to staying in Neon. (Or withering as an independent planet)
If we do integrate them, we are risking collapse of our medical infrastructure.

That catch 22 can be solved by taking mandatory medical education.

And cutting the losses of med infra has the second benefit of making reaching the next milestone easier (not needing to make up for all the levels we'd lose without mandatory med ed)

I'd like to have equalized, too.
But that seems much more reasonable to gamble in being available at med 10 if we focus med.

Can't not deal with Neon.
And then we either have to Deal with the planets or just let them starve, the latter of which would be extremely un-candle-keeper.

Edit:
Forgot to quote the action.
Underline by me
[] Mandatory Medical Education A healthy society is a productive society. A productive society can advance. A society that advances needs does not fear the echoes of the past. Twice over, the medical services of the Glimmering Federation collapsed due to the burdens placed upon it, and twice over, the people relied on nothing more than their skills, as any additional medical attention was spotty at best. Fearful of what a third collapse could bring, the Glimmering Council has handed down a requirement to each member planet to teach every citizen the basics of medical treatment and first aid regularly, hoping that, even if it could never be used, a population capable of always treating the most common injuries and illnesses does not fall victim to the same when in need.
(Reduces Medical Service reductions when integrating or colonizing new systems.)

I want to take equalized, but dammit ya'll are right about the ap hell of neon. We'll just have to get medical X soon.

Plus now that I think of it, it wouldn't be very cool to condemn others to suffering for longer, or breaking our own medical services, for our own comfort.

I don't think it'll be quite that bad. We lost 2 Medical from integrating three systems earlier, we're only aiming for one this time, even if it has a higher population, it also is fully established and self-sufficient.

Other planets might be a Problem though, especially Kriegar.

[X] Equalized Healthcare

If you think about it the bigger we get the less harsh the hits get so in theory we can expand our way out of this problem...in theory
