- He's dead. That means that there are very few things that can actually kill him. DSci can do it, wielded properly, and Death can do it, and from the tools we have, that's about it. He's also way out-of-paradigm for many of the focuses we might want to bring to bear.
DSci only? Not Spirit? Kessler and Donald would be useless against him, in the event we somehow get them back in play?

Also, Arc-level Entropy has as an example application being able to cross the Shroud. Shouldn't lower levels of Entropy also be usable against ghosts and Wraiths, or is Entropy only usable against them at Arc-level?

Spirit unfortunately does not have the property of being able to phaser spirits to perma-death. Only DSci can do that.

Well, duh. We're the Technocracy. We don't employ Spirit Masters. That would be outlandish . We just have multiple Spirit Adepts on team instead. Much more responsible.

It's men, I'm telling you. Too weak willed and flighty to do what needs to be do be done and properly deal with EDEs and RNEs. Always "binding" and "banishing" and other temporary arrangements that never work out in the long run. In the end, it falls to the women to finish the job and make sure that any spirits they've disposed off won't be coming back.

Wufan:

Look, I'm just stating facts. And the record shows that with the sole exception of Wufan, every Dimensional Science user we've seen in this quest has been a woman. It's clear from the evidence that men just don't have the temperament and ability to be in the business of spirit killing, and should stick to pursuits more suited to their gender.

Siddharth would like to lodge a complaint. He did the hard work of getting up to DSci 3 explicitly so that he could use the disintegration rays. Also, Doesn't Harlan have DSci? He's literally standing right here.

Beyond that, it's my understanding that Spirit doesn't work particularly well on wraiths. That's one of the reasons we have the Death sphere. DSci, on the other hand, works just fine to shoot pretty much anything.

About my question on Entropy and ghosts then...

Clarifying edit: One of the examples for Entropy 8 allows you to cross the Shroud and enter the Underworld, and Voormas had his great work. Doesn't that suggest that Entropy can also be used against ghosts, or is that only at Arc levels?

[X] Allies: Elissa knows that An-Jin Choi is a powerful deathlord with immense personal power and massive armies, all gained from his stolen mien and his foreknowledge of the chaos which would occur after 1999. They're going to want allies for this. It might cost them, but Elissa has a handful of favors she can burn and Harlan and Jamelia have their own contacts.

We have spent the entire Quest showing how Jamelia's networking and the Union's building of alliances can stand against even the damndest things Threat Null throws at Earth. An-Jin Choi needs to be pushed back, and in worst case, allies can be what cuts us an escape route anyhow.

Can we trust whatever allies we find here, though? Elissa doesn't have local allies here - and has a bad reputation among many traditionalists. And Jamelia has shuffled her trustworthy allies off screen. When the robot murder kitty is out there, can we really trust the local technocrats?

Maybe, maybe not, but they can at least help us cut a way out. I'm leaning towards 'yes' anyhow, since Jamelia and gang are in good standing with the Union at the moment, after all the world-saving.

That's a very good point, and I'm not in favor of the current vote's trying to retreat from a threat that's just going to follow us again.

I can't help but think that going with Allies might me a little risky, given that we know from Li's interludes that one of Panopticon's main base is somewhere in the Alps.

[X] Equipment: Jamelia and Harlan packed light. They're going to need to find equipment capable of evening the odds against a deathlord's personal army, or tools to assassinate something that powerful. Elissa doesn't think she's going to be lucky enough to catch him unprepared this time.

You don't need Dsci 3 if you have the proper tools

And we already have three stupidly powerful mages on hand, we hardly need more.

Uhm, Elissa has DSci 3. last I checked, anyway.

Where did you see that? I was looking for her stats and found Death, Dimensional Science, Forces, Life, Mind, and Time. Pretty sure Death is an Entropy alternative and they are mutually exclusive.
Elissa has Arete 5 and these spheres: Correspondence 3, Entropy 1, Death 3, Dimensional Science 3, Forces 3, Life 3, Mind 4 (Control), and Time 3. Elissa's gained a little more knowledge of the Ixoi (in her Entropy) and learned a lot about Correspondence under that paradigm.
In this game at least it seems one can get both versions of alternate spheres although it is obviously inefficient.
