WildSpace - A Riot! Quest

It says "Cost Variable" on building upgrades, we could potentially look into how much it costs to upgrade the mining operation (is there more than one kind of upgrade, etc), if it costs 4 or less we could do that instead of the Machine Shop rather than a full-on second mining operation.
Hmm. Perhaps! We'll have to inquire next turn.

Due to some fairly heavy Navy-related bullshit, the current update will be somewhat slow in coming due to inability to access a computer on the regular like I could before.

Week 2: Finisher!
"You know, becoming a Tunnel Rat on an alien world I know nothing about sounds like just about as much fun as getting AIDS, so I think we should leave it for now." Scepta said. "Probably full of tentacle monsters, for all I know. I'd rather have something a little more substantial than this popgun for dealing with that."

Meir thought about it for a moment, then nodded. "That sounds like a prudent course of action." he said, marking the location down in his wristcomp's INS system.

The rest of the week was mostly uneventful, save for coming across the first seemingly non-predatory example of Icarus' native wildlife while driving back to First Impact. The hexapedal creature looked somewhat like a cross between a horse and a giraffe, its hide a confusion of stripes and dappled, mottled green and brown, and towered a full three stories above the plains, along with several smaller specimens of its kind. Thick, powerful legs propelled them at quite a clip, and they appeared to be fleeing something.

The explorers didn't bother waiting around to find out what that thing was.

@Shadows Can I request a cost on upgrading the existing Basic Mining Op and projected yield? Can we even do that yet without having Turnkey Research done?

[X] Set up a Building
-[X] Basic Farm

We really need to produce at least enough food to be self-sufficient, so at least 2-3 farms will be needed.

Name: Michael Erickson
Appearance (1 paragraph or less): Tall, olive-skinned man with dark hair and eyes. In decent shape, but no bodybuilder. Prefers to wear bright primary colored medical uniforms when appropriate.
Description (1 paragraph or less): Michael is a recent graduate of a tiny medical school from the middle of nowhere on humanity's oldest possession, Proxima Centauri III. A decent student, but in the lower half of his class and without the contacts that would allow him to reach well-paid positions, Michael found himself between a rock and a hard place upon graduation. Burdened with loans that would take decades to pay off, he elected to give up medical residency for a colonial practicum that would pay his loans instead, and signed up for the Icarus Expedition as one of their medical officers.
Job (this helps determine your character's starting Bonus): General practice Physician

You can't without Turnkey, but I'll give you the upgrade costs (cheaper than starting a new one, obv.)

- Improved Mining Operation (produces +8 min/turn) (5 minerals)

QM Note: You can now build multiple buildings of the same kind, at an increased DC (and mineral cost).

Do we have to state beforehand that we are trying to make multiple buildings, or will we build multiples automatically if we beat the DC?

Also, what's the DC for farms and making more of said farms at once, if you are willing to reveal it?

And see new character above.

I'll hold my action for now since I'm flexible. I'll likely help out on whatever has the fewest people out of constructing a Farm, researching Turnkey, or Explore/Survey.

If you get an EPIC SUCCESS, there's a fair likelihood my hidden rewards table might give you a second farm for free, but by and large yes, you must state multiples.

Current Resources:
Credits: 50
Minerals: 10
Food: 18
Exotics: 0
Info on the resources needs to be updated. Why do we have 10 minerals but 18 food? Shouldn't we have 5 minerals? How much food did we have upon landing?

It'd be even better if current resources were displayed every update, right alongside the options we need to vote on. Just to exclude impossible scenarios.

Mind helping me build basic farms? Getting independence from food problems is probably wise.
We would be better off if we upgraded the mine and then build hydroponics which is faster and produces surplus of food.

*reads*

Ok then.

[X] Explore (Combat+Espionage)

Is having a character absolutely required? Because I cannot come up with a backstory for the life of me tonight.

Next turn we should be able to afford to build both simultaneously. Then think about doing upgrades.
Waiting on Shadows to confirm but it looks like the Minerals count might be wrong. We had 10 as of Turn 2, which should have been spent on the Mining Op, then generate 5, so we should only have 5 right now.
