The Diplomacy section is starting to remind me of Ulthuan.

Not fond of interfering with Kislev. We have planet of our own stuff going on, no need to stick our nose in other people's rebellions.

I guess if trebuchets are legal then other warmachines are likewise acceptable. Although I would still prefer to open up more ways for peasants to earn knighthood.

Also, just realized my math was wrong on Kurt's age. He turned sixteen and married Justine last year.

Retroactively, because I'm nice like that, you attended the wedding, got Justine a magic sword and Kurt an abacus made of silver.

Burn!: The fae-fyre is ready and can be mass produced. Capable of melting through solid steel and the key to Fae-Forging, it would be a potent weapon for your forces; particularly your Trebuchets, which can be loaded with glass globules filled with the stuff that will then rain fiery death down upon your foes.
Cost: 500 Gold, 2 Years

Reward: Fay-Fyre available
Isn't this basically like gunpowder? How is this allowed?

I know it's not blackpowder, but it seems like it would be banned for the same reason blackpowder and blackpowder weapons are. It's dishonourable.
The biggest reason Blackpowder is banned is for the practical reason that with it, some random asshole can just walk in and shoot people or toss in a bomb or something.

Can't really smuggle Fae-Fyre.

Because it takes years of training to learn how to work with it, and a shit ton of money to make even the flawed shite; not to mention even the best formulas, the one Morgyan crafted, can still explode if futzed about with too much.
You say this like a handgun isn't a very finicky marvel of engineering that took years to design, needs long hours of effort from a highly skilled craftsman to make and has a small but respectable chance of blowing up in your hand if you use it wrong.

This stuff is a mechanical(/chemical) weapon that is a more or less perfect fit for what the ban describes. Specifically: "And no person shall wield in the lands of the Kingdom profane devices with which they shall be capable of easily, through mechanical means, and from shadows like a coward, killing a knight."
Anyone with basic training can pick up a bottle of this stuff, sneak around and toss it at a knight.

Except basic training is still decades of practice; Morgyan only knows how to use it/make it because Titania jammed it in her skull. It's also hard to manufacture, as I said-- or do you think that self-same random dude is going to find the Tears of the Spirits of Fire, the Ground Jaws of the Asses of the Earth, or the Seeds of the Gold Roses of Athel Loren? Because you need at least one reagent of that caliber to make it.

And you can't really hide it in the shadows because it gives off motherfucking rainbows or a bright purple glow.

I'm sorry what? :lol

Is that really what it's called because that's hilarious?

And because I know someone will ask how there can be enough people to build militarily relevant amounts of Fay-Fyre-- and even if they don't, it'll bug me if I don't say-- as part of her efforts to find potential replacements for the reagents Morgyan has also been teaching a few-- very, very smart and personally vetted by her-- people how to craft it, namely Belle and Nimue, and a very few other alchemists.

(And yes, this does mean that Morgyan has her hands in maintaining both the military and internal security, and has thus tied herself with you as the number one most powerful person in the Duchy despite basically being everything the average Knight detests. You guys should probably consider yourself very lucky you rolled that hundred when you married her)

I have added in the cost and the Chance of Success for Sunstones, which I did not have originally.

That is a rather more metal description than you have given before. Reminds me of Witcher alchemy. I approve.

That said… it really doesn't change the fact that the ban covers it. Being hard to make doesn't matter because you don't need to make it to use it, same as with guns. And glowing liquid just means an opaque containing instead of a glass bottle.

On the other hand the fact it is blatantly magical probably supersedes any armament laws. No mere nobles are going to say we can't throw a fiery-rainbow-spell-in-a-bottle at people, so long as the Lady doesn't complain.

I mean, you're not wrong-- there are plenty of nobles who look at it and go "If you weren't a Grail Knight, I S2L..."

And also plenty of nobles going "dude calm your tits, it costs like 30 Golden Gilles to make a single vial of the stuff, you really think random dudes off the street are going to buy it?"

Lady Talsyn
Lady Talsyn
"You will wander, deaf, blind, and mute to your savage king of murder, Druchii, and you will tell him that the Daughter of Araloth will have vengeance."
-Lady Talsyn

(Source)

The Dark Elves killed Araloth the Hunter in recompense for his slaying of Morathi in the Battle of the Borderlands.

This was a mistake.

For beyond brewing war betwixt the kin of dark and death, and earning the enmity of Ariel and Orion and indeed all the people of Athel Loren, the Dark Elves angered someone else:

Lord Araloth's Daughter.

To those outside the ancient forest she is Lady Talsyn, for she wishes to make clear exactly why she does as she does. Her past few years, since her father's death, have been a storm of dead and dying Druchii; sorceress, knight, corsair-- it matters not: to be Druchii in her sight is to be a soon-dead elf. Imperial state troopers, Bretonnian men-at-arms, the Long March, even the Dwarfs have reported seeing a green-clad elf cutting through Dark Elven raiders with all the fury she can muster-- and that is much fury.

In her search for vengeance, Lady Talsyn has made informal truce and agreement and pushed for nearer ties with the other inhabitants of the Old World; for while the inhabitants of Athel Loren and the Great Court are mighty, they are not so mighty that they could cast down Malekith and the Witch-Elves sans aid. Thus, for the first time in millennia, ships bearing Asrai adventurers have sailed to Ulthuan to trade with their long-sundered kin under her direction. While there are plenty of Asrai who disdain the very idea, they are outweighed by the braying voices of those who would see the slayers of Araloth broken for their temerity.

For her part, Lady Talsyn will not consider the matter settled until Malekith lies dead, hopefully-- but not necessarily-- by her hands.

Did they ever give Araloth's daughter a name? Because I haven't been capable of finding one, and referring to her as Lady Talsyn all the time is getting pretty repetitive.

she thinks she can kill Malekith, that is going to take some serious work
She's hoping she will, despite knowing it's extremely unlikely.

Still, she'd just as much accept basically anyone doing it, except maybe the Dwarfs, under the general logic of "They will never, ever let this go, will they?"

with enough level grinding anything is possible

Honestly for this update I'm thinking of voting for More Wolf-riders instead of anything else in Martial. It's a one year plan which doesn't cost us much and doesn't have a chance of planning. Next year I'm all for taking We Have a Chance or I Want My Shit Back, but the fewer turns we spend totally locked in one of our options the better in my opinion. I mean, the only reason we were able to have any army ready to fight the Greenskins before they rocked our world was because Voikirium took pity on us and gave us an extra Martial action. Obviously a Waaagh is a rare occurrence, but if something comes up next year that threatens the realm I'd rather have some way to address it instead of being totally locked in place.
