Vorstallen Magic Preparatory - The Third-Best School for Young Mages in the Nation! Enrol Today!

*shrug*....

@occipitallobe How does having someone studying a certain topic impact our rolls for knowledge gain?

Not at all unless there's a big discrepancy (they know a lot more than you). The big advantage comes in to when you both go off and research things - making new sigils or runes, or finding out new ways to link runes, or learning interesting spells and modifying them...

Abraham will never be able to contribute meaningfully to your knowledge because his stats make him best suited to learn some common spells and focus on combat magic with a side serving of utility. You can boost him pretty significantly (by teaching him new and unique spells), but the knowledge is something of a one-way street. He'll be able to offer top-notch combat abilities to help you out, but in terms of increasing your personal power in the long run he offers very little.

Henrietta on the other hand will be able to offer a two-way flow of knowledge - you'll both be able to research unique and powerful things and trade for them.

And Lucy?

With our build and our setup, until we come back into our power, our likely best course of action is to feed Abraham knowledge and skills and to have the both of us playing on Team Madavian (Yes, the jerseys are bright pink, but they're also oddly-flattering and can stop ballistas at point-blank range)

The problem with not letting Lucy in to keep Abraham happy is that it's based on her being a Narubite. So unless something changes with him inviting a Narubite will always upset him. Would rather invite Lucy in now and try and open him up to trusting Narubites.

Except thats not the real probkem at all. The problem is inviting a Narubite right after we picked a fight with the son of one of their ruling class. Abraham needs more time for his mental health to stabilise.

Lucy immediately offers a bonus to Souls and Spirits (or at least the ability to gain Souls and Spirits from the Study Group), which is more of her focus. In the long term, she might offer similar things - extra pieces of knowledge in regards to Spirits, or if you chose not to specialize in Souls and Spirits, she might be able to offer interesting Spirit-related services.

[X] Invite Henrietta

Henrietta now, as she might benefit Abraham and will serve as a long term resource, consider befriending Lucy b4 inviting her next weekend or so.

[X] Invite Both

Bother can offer valuable things to the study group in different ways, thus overall enhancing it. Henrietta similar to us enjoys academia so will help push that side further as we would have someone to bounce off, and notably likes magical theory which is pretty essential in the first semester.

Lucy on the other hand I can actually see as being good for Abraham in the end if the initial discomfort can be pushed through. I don't think it's a coincidence that she mentioned that her ideal man is gigantic and shooting fire from his hands and mouth, and Abraham is tall and physically fit with 5 in physical ability and has channeling 4 so is in the most advanced magical class. So while she might get negatives socially for interacting with someone from the Empire as a Narabite (hopefully mitigated by the conversation we had with her open mind and him being a flit), chances are she'll get positives given she'll be attracted to him. That she adds souls and spirits to the study group makes her even better

For Abraham, this is kind of really needed. Growth tends to be pushing through and overcoming adversity, and humans are a social species. It's also necessary as you don't want someone who dislikes you dictating the terms of your relationship with a large majority of people, this way if someone is slandering us to other Narabites there could be a counter.

[X] Invite Both
We literally live with Abraham, and we have bonuses to our interactions with him, if he really dislikes this we should be able to explain it to him.

[X] Invite Henrietta

Let's give Abraham some time first to warm up to the idea of a Narubite coming anywhere near him.

Thread takes "True Friend or No Friend", and then proceeds to act with no regard for one of our only two friends.

:(

Seriously, don't vote for Both; I don't mind recruiting Lucy but lets do it at a time when it isn't going to do serious harm to our current friends.

Henrietta seems fine, especially if the unproductive Suzy gets kicked out as a result.

Lucy.. now isn't the time.
