Voices From Beyond: A Skullgirls Quest

Quick question, is Lorenzo the type of mobster that pretends to be a law abiding citizen in public? Cause of so, Marie might be able to get him in whatever office he works in!

Turn into a bird to scout out the windows till he finds him sitting on his desk, then back away and fly forwards as fast as possible, use a little bit of the Skull juice to increase her strength to break through the window, kill Lorenzo while he's off guard, get the good juju rock off of him, then divebomb out of the building and escape through the sewers before robo lady can start chasing her.

His son might go to ground but this way we cut the head of the snake permanently, or as permanently as possible with people like Brain Drain around anyway.
Yeah, Lorenzo and the Medici act like good people, who opposed the Renoir regime (who started a war and whose Queen was the previous skullgirl), they are basically beloved by the people of New Meridian if I remember right.

…the office he works in is the Medici Tower where their headquarters is, which we told Marie about, so attacking in the middle of the day might be a bad idea.

Also letting his son live might be a bad idea, we would be cutting one head of the snake just for them to get another, and while Vitale might not do as well as Lorenzo does running the Medici, well, we wouldn't change anything I believe, that way

Also have tk ask Marie if she is fine just Killing Lorenzo and getting away, cause she might want to Stay to kill the rest lf the Medicis there.

Maybe mention he's part of a different lab as well.
Turns out that the group he belongs to, managed to rescue Patricia from those slavers scum that captured you both. Those bastards tore her body to shreds..."
Is this a good idea though?

She will figure it out when she looks at her. I don't think is a bad idea either. Maybe just make sure that they were the enslavers who did that, because the current text may give the idea that it was Lab 8, or at least that is what I think.

Edited to make it clearer

And yeah, agree that we need tk inform Marie that Patricia looks different than know, specially that she lacks freacking eyeballs, and will ask what happened. Better explain it now I believe would be best?

Well we have until the operation finishes that Peacock will be making her way to Marie, although Ben probably has a head start on her. We should probably tell Marie to don a new disguise.

Yeah Lab 0 is the one who made Painwheel, while Lab 8 does have a lot of kids as well. Speaking of which we must tell Marie of Avian who saved Patricia.

And yeah, agree that we need tk inform Marie that Patricia looks different than know, specially that she lacks freacking eyeballs, and will ask what happened.
And the new arms with eyes as well.

How much you want to bet that once she learns what happens she'll be charging straight for the Medici tower and start attacking everyone.

…on one hand I didn't consider that, in the other hand…might be for the best?

We are on a timer so we need to hurry…but also have a point that telling her that might make her go into a rage.,,will edit it then

...was I the only one who was worried of Marie going into a raging rampage once she learns what the Medici's did to her best friend?

I was probably unclear, I was more referring to where in the tower is his office, top floor? Or is he actually smart and picked a random floor to have his office in?

We might be able to convince her by appealing to her desire not to be a Monster.

The more she has that Skull, the more her mind and morals erode, so she needs to get rid of it as soon as possible, there's no point in revenge if she's going to become a mindless killer by the end of it, then she'll just start killing innocents! The priority should be in finding a way to remove the Skull (maybe the Nurses?) while holding the Gem.

That's the easy part honestly, just Shapeshift a pocket in her flesh to store it in while the Skull gets removed, it's finding a way to remove the Skull that's difficult.

And about letting Vitale live (for now) not changing much, I'm pretty sure seeing their previously immortal boss finally kick the bucket is going to throw the organization into chaos, Lorenzo doesn't strike me as the kind to ever think of a possibility where he isn't in power, not to mention that some lieutenants of his might decide this is a good chance to take over or something similar.

Well we have until the operation finishes that Peacock will be making her way to Marie, although Ben probably has a head start on her. We should probably tell Marie to don a new disguise.

Should we look for possible images for her change into?

How much you want to bet that once she learns what happens she'll be charging straight for the Medici tower and start attacking everyone.

Cowabunga it is!

If she does we might want to give her the fighting skills of a soldier, maybe Guile or Sonya Blade? They surely know how to fight through groups of enemies, not to mention they probably have experience with infiltrations

If the webcomic is to be believed is the second to last Floor, for his office.
His personal room should be the very last floor of the tower if in understanding The webcomic right.

One thing to mention is that Lorenzo has a serial escape vehicle I believe, a zepelín or something like that pretty sure,

So fighting throught his goons, while satisfactory, wojld slow Marie down enough that Lorenzo might decide to bail and escape,

We need to alpha strike him, no questions about that.

Best to vote now before I forget.
Probably, it did skip my mind for a moment, not gonna lie.
We must remember that she's a young kid with dangerous powers, so we must be careful on the wording of the information we share with her, I'm not saying to hide everything but word so she doesn't just kill anyone with Medici blood.
Should we look for possible images for her change into?
Well it's mostly looks so color would be out either way.

Aye we definitely need to kill Lorenzo first before Marie goes wild on the rest of the Medici's.

His personal room should be the very last room of the tower if in understanding The webcomic right.

He sleeps in the top floor and works on the second to last floor... Yeah no, just go slither through the vents, and drop on top of him while Shapeshifted into a mass of spikes and blades and grab the gem from within his gibblets.

Alternately, Bunker Buster!
Fly high, Drop down, go through the roof and land epically in his office, if we're lucky, we squash him!

Absolute dumbass has been getting way too overconfident with his use of that Gem, he chose to work and sleep in the most bombable floors, seriously how the hell has the top of that tower not gotten blown up by his enemies!?

One thing to mention is that Lorenzo has a serial escape vehicle I believe, a zepelín or something like that pretty sure,

Just checked the wiki, yeah, and it has some serious plot armor, Marie threw the building at it and it still didn't go down!

We need to alpha strike him, no questions about that.

Bunker Buster!!!!!

Well it's mostly looks so color would be out either way.

Yeah, but nobody knows we can Shapeshift! So we could give her an appearance that's different from Marie to avoid suspicion! Not every white haired person is a Skullgirl after all!

I propose Edward! Drastically different from her usual style, so nobody would suspect it's Marie!

, I'm not saying to hide everything but word so she doesn't just kill anyone with Medici blood.

Oh yeah, have we told her not to kill Marcus yet?

Probably cause of the Life Gem he thinks of himself as unkillable so he doesn't worry about assassination attempts on his life.

And in that overconfidence we'll find our victory!

Not many seem to oppose the Medici, as said before they helped most people who were affected by the war caused by the Renoir and the Skullgirls while expanding their mafia influence.

Pretty sure they control the whole criminal underground, or at least a significant portion of it.

The princess of the Canopy Kingdom does try to oppose him, but his father the king (who has a flame for a head) straight tell her no because their amount of PR is Insane and if they did anything against them the people would riot/protest most likely

I'm not kidding with how well Lorenzo has managed to make the Medici look like saints, it's insane the amount of influence the guy managed to get for his mafia

Probably cause of the Life Gem he thinks of himself as unkillable so he doesn't worry about assassination attempts on his life.
True, no one k owns about that, so they don't expect the man to survive assassination attempts, helps grow his image of an invincible mobster

Well that's one way to disguise herself, hopefully Marie doesn't mind the new look.

Oh yeah, have we told her not to kill Marcus yet?
No we haven't mentioned any Medici's who don't want to be part of the gang yet.

And in that overconfidence we'll find our victory!

Well good thing Marie wouldn't care much of PR, cause we'll definitely be making a statement on the Medici's.

True, no one k owns about that, so they don't expect the man to survive assassination attempts, helps grow his image of an invincible mobster
Well he just lost his element so he won't be surviving this encounter.

Just as a reminder, we still need to get the Life Gem from him, even splatting him down while he is still in contact with it/holding it will just put him back together...possibly painfully. Also doing that has the risk of actually damaging the Gem...so maybe rip the thing from his neck first and them we pancake him?

No we haven't mentioned any Medici's who don't want to be part of the gang yet.

No we havent, if Doublke somehow manages to convince her to go to Fillia's neighbor to kill medici's we need to warn her.

I would like for her to avoid attacking the members that have nothing to do with the Mafia.

Well good thing Marie wouldn't care much of PR, cause we'll definitely be making a statement on the Medici's.

Yeah! Skullgirls don't care for PR!
The evening bell tolls thy name Lorenzo! You cannot escape the reaper coming in maid uniform to supplex you!!!

Well hopefully Marie's new kunai and chain wouldn't damage the life Gem as well.

Well at least we have told Marie not to trust Double, although we haven't said if she should trust Valentine or not.

So once we steal the life Gem from Lorenzo, any ideas on how to kill him, cause I wouldn't mind impaling him on his own tower.

Incinarating him seems more appealign to me. Have Marie revive him as one of his minion who becomes her personal ounching bag to relieve stress..which might be a. lot once Marie has more people coming to kill her

On the other hand, we could do the Geese Howard and Heihachi Mishima method and just hrow him out from the window so he plummets down to the earth. As he dies seeing his precious tower and everything he worked on being destroyed by the sins of his past would be very fitting.

To bad there's no volcano close by for Marie.

Definitely need to offer him as a target to the Last Hope members trapped in the different dimension, I'm sure they'll need some new entertainment after playing cards go stale.

As he dies seeing his precious tower and everything he worked on being destroyed by the sins of his past would be very fitting.
Hopefully no one catches him as he falls, cause I wouldn't mind Marie destroying the Tower as a final f.u to Lorenzo.

... Hmmm... If we go through the vents and he doesn't see Marie, could she just shoot out of a vent, nab the Gem, then kill Lorenzo before he even figures out what's happening!

Best of both worlds! Grab Lorenzo, wrap him up in Shapeshifted tendrils, fly as high as possible, then drop down with him pointing downwards head first going straight through his building!

Bunker Buster Primary Lotus!!!!

Well hopefully Marie's new kunai and chain wouldn't damage the life Gem as well.
The gem works even after Ms. Fortune swallows it whole, which suggests to me that not even stomach acid does much to it. I'm working on the assumption that the Life Gem is pretty much indestructible unless you do something like drop it in a volcano or throw it into the sun. And I doubt either of those will happen in the quest, so you don't need to worry much.

Well hopefully the nurses can take studying the Life Gem as a peace offering or as a deal if Valentine helps us.

...Depends what we do with that, If having the Gem somehow counteracts the skullheart's effect and basically "revives" Marie, well...she kind of would be stuck with that I imagine? Specially ig we somehow manage to remove the Skullheart from her.

Lorenzo losing the life gem for a few seconds/minutes started going back to his original Age and health, and I think the situation that woudl apply the same to Marie.

Its all hypothetical until we can get the Life Gem into Marie's hands, but i believe it would be basically trading one power source for other, so Marie would be stuck witb that if she doesn't want to go back to being dead.

And i would not want Marie to offer herslef as a test subject so the Labs could study the Life Gem, no sir.

Marie Chooses A Coping Mechanism

-[X] (Voice 2) "Young Lady, you can trust Mister Ben to help you reunite with Patricia. But that mght bring some complications..."
-[X] (Voice 5) "Turns out that the group he belongs to, managed to rescue Patricia from those slavers scum that captured you both. She was not in the best of conditions when they found her."
-[X] (Voice 1) "But hey! They managed to patch her up! Just...she looks a bit different now that you might remember her. They have been taking care of her, letting her watch all the cartoons she wants."
-[X] (Voice 1) "Thought that means we might wanna speed up the plans to assualt the Medicis..."
-[X] (Voice 4) "So kid, umm, chances are that Ben and Patricia might be looking for you now, you might want to talk to one of the nurses as soon as possible, preferably the bluehaired aone, see if you can convince them to somehow assist you with the attack to the Medici's Tower."
May 24th, near the New Meridian docks, evening

Patricia is alive. The thought gives Marie more energy than she knew she could have. It feels like she just went swimming in a pool of coffee, she's shaking so much. Even if she can't see Patricia again, just the knowledge that her friend is alive and in the care of people who are looking out for her- oh. Right. Patricia is part of an anti-Skullgirl group now. They could meet again, to kill each other. All of Marie's energy, gone in an instant.

Marie has to assume that meeting will happen, her friend is probably already dragging herself out of whatever facility she's in for a reunion, anti-Skullgirl operatives chasing after her, and with how well Patricia knows her, tracking Marie down won't be hard. Marie doesn't think she can bring herself to kill Patricia, and her friend might feel the same way, but Patricia's new friends will definitely be willing (and possibly able) to kill a Skullgirl they've never been friends with. And Marie can't let herself die just yet.

Lorenzo Medici must die. His right hand Vitale will probably try to take control afterwards, but gangs aren't like governments, they don't have laws of succession. Once Lorenzo is dead, all the Medici men in New Meridian will be at each other's throats trying to become the new top dog. It's not the complete eradication Marie would like, but if it's all she can manage before she sees Patricia again, it will have to be enough. So Myriad is right, Marie needs to hurry. And if she's going to get this done quickly, she'll need help.
Gasp "Huh? Leviathan, we're...?"
Same time, the Time Out Box

Marie opens a portal to the Time Out Box and steps through, closing it behind her. The moment they see her, the nurses startle, playing cards flying from their hands, before kneeling in front of her in a straight row. They must have decided Marie is their new boss... or are pretending to be submissive to lower her guard, since they're a team of anti-Skullgirl fighters. Well, Myriad just gave her the ability to act, so she can play dumb and give these women enough rope to hang themselves.
"Indeed, Squigly, we're alive again. A new Skullgirl must be at large, but there aren't any other minions around. Why have we been summoned?"
"Stand up," she orders the nurses. "I have a task for you."
"I... she's going to Medici Tower. Or she already is there? I can't tell, it sort of feels like... both?"
They stare at her, silent and still. Is that how they are, or is this a plot? Well, it doesn't matter, Marie's sure she can deal with whatever they're planning. After all, they can't kill her before she can kill them.
"Could she be calling for an army to meet her there and then start killing?"
"One of you will accompany me into New Meridian. We will go to Medici Tower, where I will be killing a man and you will be helping me find him. When you have found him, you will tell me where in the tower he is, and we will go to his location together. Then, I will kill him while you make sure I am not interrupted. Afterwards, you will return here while I finish tying up some loose ends. If the one who comes with me dies, I will do my best to retrieve her remains for the rest of you to dispose of however you prefer. If I do not come here again within forty-eight hours, you may assume I have died. If that is the case, I cannot guarantee you will ever be able to leave this prison without me to open a way out."
"Maybe? But that doesn't seem quite right. Her control feels weak, barely there at all. I... I think we might have been all she could summon."
That should make sure the nurse coming with her won't try to kill her. And promising to give the survivors a corpse in the event of death should assure them that she isn't a heartless taskmaster planning to use them up like kerosene in a lamp.
"Whatever the reason we're up and about, we won't be able to stop the Skullgirl's plan if we stay here. Let's see what she's up to."
The nurses exchange glances Marie can't interpret, then the blue-haired one is handed the weapons of the other four. She steps forward, bows her head, and says, "This one is called Valentine, Lady Skullgirl. This one asks, who is the the lady's target?"
"You're right. Let's hurry!"
Marie... had forgotten to get an image of Lorenzo Medici to show them. And she can't shapeshift into a copy of him since she can't change the color of her hair or eyes. But she can change how her clothes look too, and they're black and white. Ah, that should work.

Marie holds her right arm out to her side, and her sleeve stretches downward, taking the shape of an artist's canvas. On that canvas is a line drawing of Lorenzo Medici, like something that would be printed on a wanted poster. The nurses twitch at the sight of it. Whether they're surprised at Marie changing the shape of her clothes or her choice of target, she can't say. It's certainly possible they live in New Meridian and are shocked that Marie plans to kill a "pillar of the community." Many gang bosses like to have that kind of image, she knows.

"This is the man, Lorenzo Medici. His gang has hurt me and mine, along with countless others. For that, I will send a message to all of his ilk: Justice will not be denied."

Valentine nods slightly. "This one understands, Lady Skullgirl. Is there anything else the lady wishes this one to know?"

After an instant of thought, Marie says, "He keeps a round, red gem somewhere on his person. If you can take it without him noticing, do so and give it to me. The gem allows him to survive any injury, so I will know if you lie to me. Be honest, and I may allow you and your team to examine it after your work is done. I am sure physicians such as yourselves would be interested in such an object."

Marie leaves the punishment for lying unsaid. Valentine can guess what it might be, and a chance to study the Life Gem should be a good carrot to go with the stick. Assuming these nurses care about medicine as much as they do about being stealthy killers, at least. It's a gamble, but Marie doesn't have much else she's willing to offer them. The Life Gem could very well be worthless to her, undead as she is, so it's the safest thing she can give them.

"This one understands, Lady Skullgirl," Valentine says. "When shall the lady and this one depart?"

"If you have no preparations to make, then say your goodbyes and follow me," Marie tells her.

And it turns out Valentine is ready to work immediately. A few whispered words between her and the other nurses, and then she returns to a place slightly behind Marie's side. With a nod, Marie opens a portal for the two of them. The pair step through, portal closing behind them, and come out at the spot closest to Medici Tower that Marie has already been to, an out-of-the-way alley with a view of the tower. It's still some distance away, but once Marie and Valentine are on the roofs, the remaining distance is covered quickly and quietly.

With these last few minutes before they arrive, Marie tries to think of a plan for getting in and finding her target. There's always the option of simply storming the building floor by floor while Valentine scouts ahead, but that could give too much warning. No doubt Lorenzo has some sort of escape plan, a man that powerful must be prepared for assassination attempts. She could try shapeshifting into a form that would allow her to sneak around unnoticed, but what would work best? A disguise could be seen through, especially one as improvised as she'd have to do, and something like a spider could get squashed easily. A bigger animal would be suspicious too. People would wonder how a dog or cat got in. Valentine won't be any help, she could only give advice meant for a ninja, which Marie very much isn't. This will be difficult.

Myriad, do you have any ideas for how to sneak in?

A/N: Marie has gotten the ability to ride someone like a skateboard along with the acting skills you also got her, she just hasn't paid it much attention because of the information you gave her. You did tell Marie that her best friend is now part of an organization that exists to kill Marie specifically and that she should hurry up on doing the one thing she's still really living for. She's taking all that, uh... not well. Also, Valentine is talking like that because she's trying to be polite so Marie doesn't get mad at her and revoke her "being alive" privileges. She's just trying to do politeness in a "ninja-y" sort of way. Marie wanted help, and the Skull Heart gave her some. How nice of it!
