My only hope is that since Siegfried's probably gonna fuckin' die next week, they're rushing out his stuff as fast as possible and saving Karna's stuff for later since he survives longer.

That makes sense, given how early Siegfried dies and how Karna has the rest of the series to throw in flashbacks. They might be saving it for his scene in Volume 4.

Wait, next week already? That's a lot faster than I was expecting.
The only big things I can remember from Volume 1 left are Spartacus getting captured and the brief Siegfried and Fran/Achilles and Atalanta fights, and considering how brief the fight today was, I can't see those two things filling a full epsiode. That only leaves Sieg's escape and all its consequences.

Sure, but don't they have 24 episodes, divided over 2 cours? If they continue at that pace there won't be anything left by episode 20.

Good God I desperately hope they won't add shit loads of Astolfo or Jeanne/Sieg to pad it out.

I'm absolutely terrified that Higashide's solution to people not liking the Jeanne/Sieg romance is to go at an insane pace so he can put even more of it in there to try convince us it's totally natural and makes sense.

That being said, I did like how they changed it from Karna and Jeanne talking a little bit before he tries to nuke her to Jeanne barely getting a word in before Karna tries to turn her into a holy shish kebab. They still talk and he still tries to nuke her after that first attempt fails, but it was still super neat.

Just saw the RAW. I'll put my thoughts here since nobody seems interested in using the dedicated Apocrypha thread.

They're really selling the callous nature of Yggmilennia towards the homunculi. That came across better than the novel's depiction.

They rearranged the Mordred and Frankenstein scenes to take place in this episode. That's good, I was worried they would cut out the flower scene with Fran and Caules.

Hey, another cameo by the Red Faction Masters.

Oh wow. Karna and Siegfried just straight up announce their true names before they even fight. That should screw up a bunch of plot points that happen later. Does the Balmung incident still happen next episode or not? The Red Faction already knows Siegfried's true name. Or did Gordes just not give the order to be silent to Siegfried in this version?

The fight was far too short. Though I will reserve full judgement when the subs come out.

Oh cool. Nasuverse Gunther and Hagen. I did not expect that.

Overall, they seem to be rushing through Volume 1. That's a pity. They could have extended the Siegfried/Karna fight, and have Episode 4 have the Master-Servant interactions.

Anyway at this point, Apocrypha starts to slide downhill in a steady manner.

inb4 karna's master's in a drug induced coma and no one bothers to ask him about siegfried's name so he says nothing

I always liked how in Apo Karna knows how fake Amakusa is but decides to go throught it anyways because of the respect he has for his real master in summoning him

Karna already knows how much of a pain is to summon and keep him

I just hope that they keep Atalanta's callousness towards the victims of the mist. She shows zero fucks about them dying in droves to Jack's NP

Semiramis has her doves all over Romania. That's how they found about Ruler's path in the first place.

More to the point, Darnic and Gordes don't know that Karna's Master is in a drugged state. For all they know, Lancer went back to base and blabbed everything. Or the Red Masters observed it with their familars. Gordes's actions in Volume One were all based off on concealing Siegfried's true name no matter what. That's part of why Darnic was so pissed at him wasting two Command Spells on the Balmung debacle.

Yeah, I know, but honestly that's the only way I can see the whole Siegfried thing going down. Maybe her doves work on sight and not sound and couldn't pick it up? I dunno. And I mentioned that Karna's Master was drugged less so that it made sense for Darnic and Gordes to be okay with it, and more to explain why the entire Red Team presumably won't know who Saber of Black is til Volume 2. If he's drugged, he won't blab it himself, and Karna won't say it outright unless he's asked.

Guys, wasn't there something somewhere about Extra Rin being a daughter of Tokiomi with a woman from Europe? Or am I imagining things?

Shirou has True Name Discernment, remember?

The Red Team knowing who Saber of Black is almost irrelevant though. It's the Black Team that matters in this context.

They now have every reason to believe that the Red Faction knows Siegfried's true name. Gordes blew a second Command Spell to keep Siegfried from revealing said true name. Siegfried has less reason to even object to using Balmung in the first place. That was a big part of the distrust between Siegfried and Gordes that later led Siegfried to sacrifice his life for Sieg.

Unless they rewrite the whole Balmung scene, it would be nonsensical for it to play out like it did in the light novels.

The entire chapter in a nutshell

That's Sumanai's entire role in a nutshell. It's so fitting.

He makes things even worse in his legend and causes Kriemhild to go on a murder rampage.

As a Servant he cheerfully gives Vlad the middle finger and sacrifices himself for some homunculus he met two minutes ago.

Finally as a unit in Grand Order, he's just underwhelming.

I am still sad that Merlin doesn't have a line bout Lily

C'mon Memelin having some regrets and stuff would expand his character beyond troll
