Nemona is all about Pokemon battling but whatever this was, and "an impromptu amateur vivisection attempt" appears to cover the scenario well, it was not battling. I think Nemona will be glad she didn't have to stare this down.

Eh, you never know. Wasn't her reaction to getting surrounded by an angry horde of Paradox Pokemon basically "Bring it on!" ?

So, "the gift of Star Child" definitely tells me that whatever produced kibby's abilities is related to Terapagos research. Which probably means that Area Zero plotline won't just patiently wait in Area Zero.

Oh, yeah. Wasn't one of the Titan's a Paradox mon? Which means they were already escaping from Area Zero somehow by the time the games started.

I wonder which Field Exercise we'll run into one?

I'm annoyed I didn't get that earlier, it makes sense given they're all focused on different elements, and element swapping is Terastralisation - and thus Terapagos' - whole thing.

"Oh wow, that Shadow Pokemon was terrifying, but it can't really get much worse than that, just a stronger Shadow Poke-"
*Gang gets ganked by a wild Iron Bundle*

Crap, I wish I was actually smart enough to notice these things when they came out.

Best piece of information I have is that I'm reasonably confident that Cassandra is a Fire/Bug specialist, but that was glaringly obvious in hindsight anyway so someone probably guessed it already.

"Is that a robot delibird? Aw that's cu--"

Mariana whited out!

Also, you know, we were doing music before the fight, and I realized that the Lokix/Vigoroth fight deserved some musical homage too. Pokémon music is probably out, tonally, and while Trails definitely has Sad Music For Fighting An Old Friend, none of it quite hit for me. And bringing in the other inspiration here...I haven't watched Kamen Rider, but you know what I have watched?

Gomen ne, nii-san.

I don't think she'd have been ready for the sheer amount of viscera though.
Okay so I know I'm a huge fucking hypocrite on this, but can we talk about literally any other character.

Despite appearances I WANT to get them out of my head. The entire reason I want to crash and burn this questline at this point is because I want to enjoy this quest without this Sword of Damocles of a character looming over every AP spent and plan created. All for a Rivalry we cannot win with - and this is the thing that's probably the reason I keep being driven mad by this - a character who does not know and wouldn't care if she did. My brain keeps coming back to this every time the quest updates trying to figure out how this influences things, and I just want it to be over with already!

I am so tired of thinking and worrying about Nemona Freaking Mendoza, saint of all godforsaken battles!!!

*Sigh* Look I'm sorry for snapping here, especially when I'm partly the reason it came up in the first place, but I geninely completely loathe this brainrot and how I don't seem to be able to read this quest without the neurons in my brain dragging me back here!

I want to enjoy the cool stuff like Mariana being first to react to the situation and having some of the least Stuttering in responding. Or the possible reasons behind Surge and Sirb using the specific Major Arcana for Codenames on the burner phone.

...Tekkaman Blade does kinda look like a Robot Delibird. Colour Scheme is at least similar.

I wonder which mon. Evil would be?

Hm...assuming he's the same age as Gold, this version of Silver would have been 11 years old when Giovanni bailed after RBY (making him roughly the same age as Leaf, Red, and Blue, so that's probably intentional). That's young enough, and enough of a time gap for Pryce (or any of Archer's remnant clique in Johto) to order the rest of the gang to go Child Soldier Indoctrination on the Boss's kid against what would have been Giovanni's wishes. The specific events definitely don't match up to the manga, but the vibe definitely does.

I mean I also think Manga Surge reformed by the time any of the post-RBY arcs happened and that sure as hell didn't happen here.

Regardless it's also interesting that Leaf still has her manga counterpart's terminal fear of bird pokemon (which was because of getting kidnapped by Lugia as a child). Blue (or Green, depends on the language) overcomes somewhere between the Yellow and GSC arcs, but Leaf still seems to have it.

(Blue/Green overcame it by catching all three legendary birds, then pretended to still be affected until she could use them to flip a fight vs Karen and Will, who was using Ho-oh and Lugia)

Holy shit, that was a chapter. My heart was pounding with worry for the Class the whole time.

I feel like there are multiple pokemon far more specialised for the use of child abduction than Lugia, but go off Pryce, i guess?

How did he get a Lugia for the kidnapping in the first place is the better question

I've made a mistake - he used Ho-oh, not Lugia.

Not really mentioned how he got it, but it did escape and most of the GSC arc involves him trying to get it back.

Anyway, the state of the Rocket remnants is different enough here that it's not very relevant beyond Surge being Leaf's personal nemesis.

I hope.

Actually, there is something kinda different about this...unless I'm completely misremembering. In the Manga, at least through, say, the Emerald arc, I seem to remember Leaf/Blue/Green's personal Rocket nemesis being Sabrina, not Surge. I also don't remember Surge being at all involved with the raising/teaching of her? She was kidnapped at a young age by Pryce, raised with Silver (and maybe Will and Karen? Can't remember if they came later).

Suffice to say that I'm pretty sure that the connection she has to Surge is completely original to this story.

Oh geez, just caught up. I know that numbers wise we apparently did well, but that fight...the writing made it stressful to read because I was never quite sure how well we had done. Good job, Arvin.

Anyways, here's hoping the aftermath goes smoothly. I expect Mary to have a clinging Erika the moment she knows.

Yknow what there have been jokes about Surge and his character, like the Happy Fathers Day to him and my own comment about the timing of the Bright Spark reaction, but I really do like him as a character.

He's evil, he knows he's evil, but at the same time he's like "yeah baby I'm so fucking benevolent, look at me helping these kids out" but his definition of "helping" is letting them fight a badge 5 Shadow Pokemon unprepared.
"Besides, any student of yours needs to learn how to fight Rocket if they're gonna be worth shit. Shadow Pokemon are perfect for that."
Not to mention just "I need to teach Poppy how to swear" like its a mission of great importance.

He is simultaneously such a funny character but also a major threat and not someone to be fucked with. It's genuinely great I love it.

From my limited understanding Leaf is 2 years older than Silver in adventures at least, so he could be slightly younger then Gold perhaps? Who knows.

Anyway yeah Leaf's background has been thrown a bit into confusion with the last couple of chapters, going off the informational of protagonists, 2004-2008 was the Leaf Green arc apparently, and Leaf has a Sevii accent. My best guess, and I'm sure I'm just forgetting that someone has said this before, is that Leaf was part of the Anti-Rocket Campaign on the side of Rocket although yknow, probably not willingly.

If anything we'd just make it worse.
There's literally a line in Tempera's sidestory that suggests we're one of the people who've negatively affected her the most, considering she's apparently about to say "Mariana" before switching it to "my friends."

Jacinto hears everybody elses backstories and sighs before going and getting his dad a #1 father mug, Winning by default Larry
Ha, I remember when I threw my Pokemon OC who's a teen runaway into a mass crossover RP and at the end of it she basically went "wow my parents were a little bad but not the huge horrible monsters I thought they were, I have to go talk to them once I get home."

fellow questers, in light of me posting in the wrong thread, I feel I must announce something of great importance. A plan so grand it shall entirely reform the quest and how we approach it:

We can, should, must and will eat a Legendary Pokémon.

O-O thats a mission and a half, i doubt anyome will want to and doubt Mariana would have the strenght or gall to try but.... even if we could what would we even eat? If were going with Scarlet and Violet only legendaries we have:
1. Koraidon and Miraidon (Lizards are edible but i doubt were eating the motorcycle dinos. Ones a caveman dragon that would eat us first and the others a robot).
2. The treasures of ruin ( Thats one way to keeping them sealed.... no idea what they would do to us though). Ting Lu is a Moose (i think their edible), Wo Chien is a Snail (Hi Kalos!) And Chi Yu is a fish (good luck eating a lava fish) and we ignore Chien-Pao...
3. Terapagos (Stellar turtle soup? Stellar Turtle burger like in food wars? Thats one way to resolve how Renne got Phantasmal cat....) dont hurt the baby....
4. Ogerpon (Nope), the (Dis) Loyal three... maybe Fezandippiti? (Probably tastes like quaill) and Pecharunt (Pecha berry? Toxic Peach? Hey it even comes with free (brainwashing) Mochi!) Only way were meeting them is if things go south and we get lucky in a roulette to get chosen to go to Kitakami (ala canon Scarletcand Violet).

Bonus mons that could appear:
1. The legendary birds (Shadow Legendarys are a thing you know? *screeches of horror* maybe not the best for anyomes sanity though..... also who knows what shadow pokemon would do to our digestive tract....)
2. Ho-Oh, if I remember right Manga Leaf was kidnapped by Ho-oh when she was a kid (whole reason she had a fear of bird type pokemon) (maybe taste like turkey)
3. If we want to be a Blasphemous Heretic, Xerneas is a deer...

...............did i really make a long ass comment om what probably is a s**t post? I have way to much time.....
Edit: Forgot Silvally/ Type Null. Chimera pokemon probably has a bunch of different meats. The tail is a fish, but who knows other things are stiched in there...
