Something about this sentence is off, specifically the end. I think it's meant to be either "so they say." or "so they don't care."
Fixed.

This update is also confirmation that there are genuine narrative consequences to which Tasks we pick, beyond stuff like which Pokemon are unlocked. If we hadn't picked Lost Woods I don't think Messa would have made it.
It would've been made a Mandatory Task for Thursday if not taken today

Well, I suppose an advantage is "there's a new mandatory task in place of it", but other than that. Did doing it early achieve anything unique?
I'm pretty sure the chance of success for the task decreased between Tuesday and Wednesday, so on Thursday it might be even harder and probable to cause Wounds. It might also mean more danger and actually facing off against the villains, like the guy with the Gliscor.

Numbered Associations! Feeding me specifically, thank you Arvis.

Deux is Two, which would be Zwei. I'm not going to assume they're anything actually alike until I see more, or see if there are other Numbered Associations, but for the record Zwei Association is basically a light police force, which would fit what we know of their jobs so far.
Huh, didn't notice that on a first read through. Would be interesting to see if other Fixer Associations got converted into Ranger Associations here.

"Thank you, Miss Mary. Can I um—send Poly up to look above? Maybe they'll see something we missed." Ostia fidgets with their hands nervously, you give the most reassuring smile you can.

"Miss Mary! Poly found something!" Wait, already? You turn to Ostia who's already running off in Poly's direction. The Staryu is floating above a mostly intact home that's only missing its roof. You follow after them while typing a message to Elise saying that Poly might've found something.

"...this idea is super convoluted, Argy, but I trust you." You hear Ostia mutter something while coming to a stop in front of the broken down home. There Ostia stares at something inside, Argy next to them as Poly floats over to be pet by a waiting Ostia.

Did Ostia send their Staryu to break the machine before our group managed to find it?

Well, between the Pokémon mind control device and what our recent rescue encountered, I'm pretty confident that whatever is happening here is some sort of shenanigans caused by the evil team which is driving the local wild Pokémon into starting a Wild Hunt. The only question is what exactly the evil team's goals are here. The plot is getting thicker by the update.

Our gym trainer battle is next update, but since it's a DC 14 skill check after catching our new Pokémon and we have 13 skill, I'm not really worried. At that point, it's not whether or not we win, it's how badly we stomp.

Huh, didn't notice that on a first read through. Would be interesting to see if other Fixer Associations got converted into Ranger Associations here.
So real quick.
1. I could be an insane person and reading into things where they aren't meant to be, because god knows Project Moon has my brain in a Vice Grip.
2. Trainer Associations, not Ranger Associations. It was pointed out that the Director was a former ranger, and that they just recruit from the general public as long as they're trainers.
She has a point, Trainer Associations recruit from all across the Trainer population in a settlement.
"Leila Watterson, the Director for the local Deux Association branch. She's a former Ranger, so she's halfway decent at her job."
Also that they're not as good as Rangers are so.

That said, if the read is right, I too would look forward to seeing more just for the sake of it.

Elise nimbly dodges out of the way of the Skiddo's headbutt, sidestepping their attack. Rin's ribbon tightens around her right arm as power briefly floods into her body. She rams her shoulder onto the Skiddo's side and sends the Pokemon tumbling.
Okay I was going to start writing a deep dive post instantly here because all of the incredible politics and plot implications but you know what? I'm gonna do that next. There is something deeply important to me that I have to link and implore you all to watch, even if you ignore every single other out of pocket insane nonsense I post about Umineko in this thread. I'm begging you. Please watch this video.

You look over to Ostia who's riding atop one of the Wooloo
That is an adorable image.

Drilbur, who's carrying her own Wooloo
Our new Drilbur is a strong one it seems. That or it's just a baby.

They've been rather out of it ever since they found out that the next destination were the ruins.
Part of their mission I presume.

What?
(Seaches) ...Oh fuck indeed.

The Espurr looks at you with a flat expression, grumpy at having been woken up.
Also adorable. It seems she is a combination of Renne and Tio.

As you finish your explanation, Renne has a strange expression on her face. A distant far away look seemingly in contemplation of something.
One was used back in that lab she escaped from?

It was a bizarre mishmash of parts, a blue fin for a tail, a thick black coat of fur for its torso and lower body, green scaly front legs and finally a head covered in gray feathers underneath a bizarre mask for a head.
What the actual fuck is a Type-Null doing here!?

You have to understand Ostia, Wooloos are really stupid." You lift up your third Wooloo of the day, this one having gotten stuck face-first halfway into a small crevice, luckily it didn't fall any deeper. It took a bit for you and Ostia to pull them out, you had to send out Drilbur to dig under the Wooloo to help push them up.

"I guess…but they're so cute and fluffy though…I feel bad…"

"They are very fluffy, yes." You look over to Ostia who's riding atop one of the Wooloo, a small flock of them following behind, being led by Argy and Poly. You feel something pull on your braid and with your free hand, you flick the nose of the Wooloo you're carrying. Little hellion was trying to eat your hair!

Drilbur, who's carrying her own Wooloo and waddling along next to you, snickers at the sight.

Even back in the Highlands, raising and herding Wooloo flocks were a big part of your life. So you know what to expect and do, which is why you've been paired with the kid while Elise and Theodora are off looking for the Skiddo.

Starting of with some adorableness, I approve. Wooloo are good little "head empty" pokemon, and we get some more info on what Mary did back with the clan.

Huh, well that's extremely fucking ominous that Gigaremo machines are showing up. They and their smaller more portable counterparts are basically evil Ranger styles.

I am not convinced that the Type: Null is what's inside Ostia's beast ball yet though. Beast balls are for well, UBs since normal balls don't work very well on them, and are actually much worse at catching normal pokemon than even a regular pokeball. Just feels odd to stuff a so-called "Ultra Beast hunter" into that of all things.

Really enjoyed the surprise about the mission though, wasn't expecting him to have actually planned to leave. Man also has a good naming theme for his team.

If Ostia does have Type: Null, it would thematically Resonant ™️ for it to evolve into Silvally when they free themselves from Raifort.

Her grip on Rin's hilt tightens, she ignores the pain in her chest, her ever constant companion.
Well. Nice to know she got that from Rean as well.

I wonder when she's going to bust it out?

You're starting to think that Theodora loves hearing the sound of her own voice.

"Could you list some of those exceptions, Elise darling?" She turns towards Elise who starts enumerating examples with her fingers.
Hey now. She doesn't just love the sound of her own voice.

She also loves the sound of Elise's voice.

"C'mon, Basil, the only ones left to interrogate are the Ursarings and the local Amoongus colony." His Kirlia follows after him loyally, as he pats his trench coat in search of his notebook.
"Well, the Amoongus were a bust. All they told us was that they support trans rights. Maybe the Ursaring will have more useful Intel."

He looks at the sketch he made in his notebook of what he saw while the memory was still fresh the day before, but even now he still has no idea what he's looking at. It was a bizarre mishmash of parts, a blue fin for a tail, a thick black coat of fur for its torso and lower body, green scaly front legs and finally a head covered in gray feathers underneath a bizarre mask for a head. Most curious of all about the Pokemon, was that it was strong. Went toe to toe with some of the strongest Pokemon in the forest with barely any hint of exertion.
Oh hey, it's everyone's favourite abomination unto Arceus.

"There will be no need for that, I believe I have an idea." Theodora sends out her Braixen. "Sharon here can help us."
Can't hide in the forest if the forest is on fire!

Sharon will help a lot here. Kiseki Sharon, specifically. Currently being played by Virgilia the Zoroark totally normal maid.

I have only heard about this in vague terms but it continues being really funny that Amoongus has become a trans icon.
The specific terms, in case anyone wants them:
In the last VGC (the officially recognised Pokémon metagame) world championships, the final match ended up with Amoongus having a one on one with the opponents Urshifu (water), one of the strongest physical attackers legal in the current VGC regulation.

Despite Urshifu waking up from sleep on the earliest possible turn, twice, Amoongus was able to just eke out the win on nine hp.

This was an impressive win for the lil' mushroom guy. But later was it discovered that the runner up was a transphobe, after that blew up he nuked his accounts and quit competitive Pokémon. And so Amoongus was celebrated for single handedly (Landorus deserves some credit tbh) preventing a transphobe from being the world champion.

Funny ironic twist, a big misplay/misclick the loser made was Terastalizing his sleeping Chien-Pao. There was no point in it, Chien-Pao was asleep, wouldn't wake up that turn and didn't have a tera type that could protect it. But the irony is that its Tera type was Stellar, which notably does not actually change the Pokémon's type. Meaning a transphobe lost, in part, because he wouldn't let a Pokémon change the type it was born with.

It's certainly more reasonable a reputation than Ferrothorn. Which is forever fighting the homophobe allegations because of one shitpost.

This chapter was good !
Really liked the scenes, and the foreshadowing.

And the Teddiursa! The one that was interrogated was probably the one we could've caught, cute little bear.

The Type:Null was quite a surprise, interested to see what will happen.

Well this was quite the update, and just as i was going to sleep yesterday. Things of note were:
1. Ostia and Woolo being an adorable image.

2. The Gigaromos being in Paldea is a big nope (Shadows of Almia, now that takes me back. Great game and managed to 100% it, used the fighting parter most of the time. Other highlitghts were the Wailord Mini and the annoying Regigigas sidequest)

3. Ostia be like : ~Dont be suspicious, dont be suspicious~, also hello there Type null what the heck are you doing here? If it doesnt belong to Ostia i bet it will be, if the They/them wanted a legendary or legendary adjacent Type null fits them well (well other than getting am Iron Valiant anyway).

4. Well, weve established the need to complete optional task now, preventing comsequences plus maaaybe savimg some Ap sounds grand, also once agaim thank you Theodora amd Sharom for saving our rewards (we need more Knowledge)

5. Hello there Charchcadet! A survivor perhaps? Well either way it seems Elise may get an Armorougue or Ceruledge in the future (ghost type trainer Elise confirmed?), also a Kirlia named Basil... did someome play Omori recently? (Only mon more fitting for that name would have been a Roselia).

6. Finally, all thats left is the last minute training plus gym trainer battle, but from what ive seen apperently we have it in the bag so.... hm i womder what would we have faced if we had delayed anymore... type null is Way out of ur league even as a group... maybe a brainwashed ursaring or Ursaluna?
