[X] Plan Space Austria-Hungary: With All the Cursedness that Entails

This is a variation of my Austria Plan. We have lots of hydrocarbons, but we are actually responsible while using them. Since hydrocarbons are very difficult to find in Space (Garden Worlds will be nigh impossible to find), having lots of it will be very useful for our chemical industry.

Rationale: In the Discord, Blackstar said that with The Final War + Multiplanetary the offworld infrastructure is mostly untouched, but you need to get a spacelaunch capacity back as soon as possible to avoid them running out of resources and all dying. This will be unpopular due to the huge amount of resources used, hence the need for a non-democratic state and avian/low gravity to make public opinion matter less and require less resources respectively. I took excellent climate, ecological focus, wealth of resources, radiation resistant, and R-type reproduction to aid in recovery from the nuclear war on the planet. Vegetarian and communitarian reduce resource requirements and unrest respectively. I have to go to work soon so can't write too much of a backstory now, but we overthrew the remnants of the states which started the nuclear war in its aftermath and are now planning to spread the revolution across the galaxy. Honestly, half the reason for this was to have a non-catgirl/less memey Trotskyist one (although this is sort of a meme still since we're basically Posadists).
Excellent Climate and Ecological focus is wasted on a final war according to Blackstar, so if I were you I'd tone down cultural trauma to the bare minimum for the former and get something else (maybe a more democratic form of government?) in exchange for the latter.

Smdh at not a single communist space hippie race being proposed. I guess there's no option to be 100% aquatic but I demand that something as close to communist space whales as possible be proposed. Large herbivorous amphibians are going to have to do, I'd be even more into a 100% aquatic gimmick to really sell the cetacean angle but this is good enough. The inspiration is of course Posadism so naturally the world was unified after a final titanic confrontation with the old order that definitely won't cause any headaches from here on out.

I made the happy communist space dolphin-whale-but-with-legs-I-guess-things, and then an alternate start with the same species where Posadas was still right but the inevitable immolation of capitalism stung a lot harder than in the optimistic timeline in case anybody wants to see the horrors of the Final War. Fits the Star Trek theme better but I imagine it will be way less fun to play for the first act while we watch everyone die.

This makes ecological focus kind of moot and not make much sense, I'd take both out and use the extra point on something else (wealth of resources or varied biosphere?).

I figure the ecological focus is a direct result of there not being many hydrocarbons. For whatever reason the biogeological processes of this planet aren't very conducive to the formation of fossil fuels so industrial society had to get creative in terms of alternate energy sources early on. Or shoot each other over the limited amounts that did exist. Mostly the latter.

Fewer hydrocarbons already means that is the case I'm pretty sure, so it's a waste of points you could use elsewhere.

Okay, so, Negative Life Seeded? Not such a great idea. So have a v2 of my Anarchist plan that replaces that.

Fewer hydrocarbons just on its own means we face the same energy input bottleneck for industry but it doesn't inherently imply the development of a pro-ecology Gaian philosophy or whatever as a response. That's what I like the ecological focus for, and we don't know enough (or literally anything) about the mechanics so I'm just going with whatever feels like a good set of narrative choices to me.

Ecological focus says it is carbon sequestration and reforesting, with few hydrocarbons they're a solution to a problem that's not really there logically. Few Hydrocarbons overlaps with it a lot, so eh, seems like a waste of a considerable amount of points. Maybe if it was a world with a natural greenhouse gas problem it'd make narrative sense, but I'd specify that in the plan for the runoff.

I mean going off only the one data point we have (Earth), the climate is going to see net positive greenhouse gas inputs and deforestation and climate change the second somebody invents cutting down trees faster than they grow back. Having a bunch of coal to set on fire speeds the process up to happen in 200 years instead of 5000 but our own climate was doomed as soon as agriculture set in, steam power just stepped up the timeline, there would still be plenty of carbon to sequester and ecological restoration to do even on a "low-impact" path from stone tools to spaceships. Maybe not as much as you'd see otherwise but industrial civilizations are inherently breaking the equilibrium that biospheres evolve and will fuck the planet up in the process of industrializing even if they don't have giant mountains of dirt cheap coal.

[X] Plan Spesss hairy Not!Elves

Man, this looks like it could be really fun but not really feeling all the dystopian civ options. Especially the final war options, we're gonna have enough problems trying to establish a fully functioning space polity without immediately going into crisis turns.

Ehh, could I please ask that those of you who vote for Plan Anarcho-Catgirls consider voting for the v2 of that plan instead? Negative Life Seeded is really bad in hindsight and my first plan really doesn't do anything to counter it.

Though if you guys want Hard Mode, who am I to judge? :V

Vote for my plan too then! (Flying High)

I've got a politically engaged populace and communalist, which means the single-party democracy is actually pretty representative of the population! And with wide biodiversity and the resources from space, we should hopefully be able to stabilize the planetary ecology and keep it a mostly-functional perfect garden world!

To explain further: Negative Life Seeding means that we've got a nearly-perfect resort world with great climate and helpful fauna, but with all sorts of problematic issues and unexpected feedback loops. Pre-industrial age it would be nearly identical to the Positive Life Seeding, but now things are starting to fall apart and that's really bad for a civilization that was built upon the assumption that the perfect world would remain perfect.

My plan mitigates the downsides by making the home planet mildly more resilient (biodiversity, which also helps us figure out what we need to survive) and then maximizing our space incentives (minimal resources on the home planet, multi-planetary+avian).
