Should be, doesn't change the fact that its not :V
Just wait until the day that the Great x/X (not so) Civil War breaks out, as the site recognizes the two kinds of marking your vote as separate, and now each side in a quest's voting schemes needs to consider one more dimension to their vote: the small party, or the Big Party?:V

Considering I'm backing the oddish train, the smallest evolutionary line side for that matter, means small party voting now doesn't it

So, on the travel time discussion and how it interfaces with our Oddish plan - 6hr hike, locate Oddish leaves, 6 hr rest/sleep, 6 hr stalk Oddish, then catch Oddish in the morning? Lets us be off on our day's hike on schedule, if potentially sleep deprived that day. The alternative is to spend a day in place stalking Oddish, and do we like wasting whole days? We do not.

I'm gone for a few hours and suddenly there's math all over the place. Loved the poll, though.

Also, spherical cows are totally a thing:

Any other questions for Joy or other teachers, folks? I could only think of one Nidoran and one Kangaskhan question each for her.
How about any anti-venom for the nidoran line?
Kangaskhan--what are the natural predators that could be attracted by a dying parent?

On the subject of finding rare pokemon, a biologist anecdote:

I had a field supervisor one summer who was doing a graduate school project on local swamp snakes. The snakes were not particularly rare. They were, however, particularly hard to find on foot wandering around a swamp. He found two all summer, which was not a happy sample size for SCIENCE.

In one particularly oppressive moment, he encountered two at once, caught one, and discovered it was one of the two he'd already caught and banded.

And then he got a second job as my field supervisor, the end.

Otherwise known as 'Why Wyste became a botanist, because at least you can find plants.'

Also, spherical cows are totally a thing:

Perfectly spherical, hahaha. As in, they mathematically have no head or limbs. It's a science joke about oversimplifying a theoretical model to the point that it has trouble applying to reality-- though Miltank certainly gets closer than any real-life animal to being spherical.

Man, wish I'd woken up earlier so I could change my vote and brainstorm more questions. Ah well; at least the QM is nice enough to merge the votes.

It's 430 in the morning and I still didn't wake up early enough.

Preemptively, we definitely want to talk to Traps Bill. Here's my draft list, add some for later:

Professor Blaustein
  1. Is a steel mesh bag going to hold an Oddish that's using razor leaf and/or acid?
  2. I thought of using sleep powder on an Oddish to catch it, or steel rope restraints. Would one or the other be better, or should I use both?
    1. Likewise, what are the best tranquilizers and restraints for a Nidoran or a Kangaskhan?
  3. What sort of trap can I use to quietly control the area around an Oddish so I'm not interrupted?
  4. The general outline of my Oddish capture plan is track a strong Oddish at night, wait for it to dig itself a hole for the day, put a steel mesh and then a fabric bag over it, dig it up carefully, send it to sleep with sleep powder, add extra restraints, and then capture it. Could you give me your feedback on this plan?
  5. Is there a question you wish students would ask you at this stage, and what's the answer?

Please don't make the text black. Hard to read for people who use dark themes, like me. :V

That last one is a bit of a cheaty question. :p He might be laidback enough to find it amusing, though. Hrm... ask him about using caltrops to control the area while we get Oddish, or on Kangaskhan to prevent it from escaping as far, or to protect a campsite while we sleep? That second one might have been better for Joy, though, since the main concerns there are whether its feet are too thick and whether it might fall forward while the joey is in its pouch. <.< Would have been nice to ask her whether poisoning the Kangaskhan might be a bad idea if we want the joey healthy, too-- that seems a bit too niche for Bill to know, even if he also teaches Drugs.

But yes, actual trap questions for Traps Bill-- snares came up, so maybe ask about the pros and cons of using those, particularly for Nidoran? Maybe ask about the effectiveness of pit traps considering their downsides (takes long, is exhausting, completely wasted effort if we predict wrong)?

We'd have to use bait for a pit trap so asking about what kind of bait they like would be good.

A pit trap could also be useful if we can, for example, predict which way a Kangaskhan is likely to flee. Would have to be a big pit trap, though, so probably not worth it?
