You remember the darkness

This was the darkness of an evil world, the darkness of a world that had never known light. Some of your kin, perhaps even you later mastered the shadows and created them but none of them was able to evoke the skies of your creation. They shaped ordinary darkness, the black of a crow's wing by an overcast moonless night. This blackness, this void, these darkness, they were not absence but presence. Dark that was more than hatred of the light, cold that was more than privation of heat, desire that was more than simple whim of the flesh and soul.

And in the darkness and over it and deep below it, in the waters that were not waters over which flew the spirit of God, swam all the monsters of legends past and future: Tiamat, Ymir, Apep that lusts over the Sun and proud Erebus draped in everlasting night. They dreamt worlds of nightmare, forests of flesh, seas of acids, of lesser gods dancing to the tune of a pipe unseen and peaks of basalt with windowless towers.

A simple goal was given to you by your Maker: Create something like these dreams but unlike it and use the Dreamers for that. And so you went to war, nine billions and nine millions and nine thousand and nine hundreds and ninenty nine Bene Elohim against whole aborted universes.

You won this war, so decisevely you forgot violence. You created wonders, a worlds of multiples layers separated from God, a world where things are and are not, have different causes. A whole universe richer than the previous one you consigned to the flame. And crown of this jewel are Woman and Man,b your latest creation and your first insoluble problem.

For your Maker said to you and your kin: Love Man and Woman but stay hidden from them. And from that seed frustration grew until discord was rife among the Heveanly Host. For you saw humanity squander its potential and be nothing more than clever animals. And you enraged to not love them openly among all the others things you created.

Now you and your brothers look upon a heated debate in the palace of Ahrimal Angel of Fate, he says he sees a catastrophe on the horizon. An event that will change everything. He wants to act and Belial Angel of the Deep is with him. Laila the Angel of Air and Usiel the Angel of Death wants to still continue to obey the decree.

Even the presence of Lucifer Morningstar the First Among You does not end the debate. The Lightbearer sides with Ahrimal and advise rebellion.

You are but one angel among the Host, still stunned by the proposition of the greatest among you. What will you do.

Screw that for the moment what sort of Angel are you?

Angel of the First House : The Heralds: Angel of Fire and Commandement, kin to Lucifer himself, you are respected among the host as the nearest to God's own authority

Angel of the Second House: The Guardians: Angel of Healing and Air you fashioned living creatures from clay and mastered the winds of paradise. Healer and Judge none doubt your commitement.

Angel of the Third House: The Primals : Angel of Earth and the Forge, you built the world from gravity to base earth. You are dependable but not respected but you know your work best of all Angels and you created Space and the Paths that criss-cross it.

Angel of the Fourth House: The Fates: Angel of the Stars and Patterns you set things in motion be they migrations patterns or stars' ellipses. Perhaps the most beautiful of the Host you See the futures and weep at what you foresee

Angel of the Fifth House: The Oceanids: Angel of the Waters and Inspirations you sing your feeling to the waves you crafted shaping both waters and dreams under your fingers. You love humanity more than any angel and you would see it dream and join you in the pleasure of creation.

Angel of the Sixth House: The Wilds: Angel of Life and Beasts you are one of the most straightforward of all Angels, you created life be it plants or animals and let it loose. Your link to the savage world familairize you with violence but you are despised for your down to earth attitude.

Angel of the Seventh House: The Reapers: Angel of Darkness and Death, only humanity has been for the moment not placed under your purview and you are happy for it. Your blade which ends life is despised by the Host of Creators but you know your purpose and works to the coming of the mysterious Second World God has promised will be your greatest achievement.

Prologue: Choice of Visage
So Herald wins. But what sort of Herald are you ?

[] Bel The Visage of Celestials: Your task was to lead or support others Angels and you were armed in consequences. You can reinforce (or weaken) others evocations, relays commands and visions of power, shapes others celestial powers as you desire or even evoke the fire of heavens in miracles of biblical proportions. Lucifer is the archetypal Bel

[] Nushku the Visage of Flame: Your task was to light Creation with divine flame and so you did. You weaved sun and ignited stars. You can shape fire in all its form from lava to celestial matter and make it burn or not burn at your leisure. You are also able to become the flames rather than wield them, escaping an enemy or burning it to ash in an blazing inferno. Michael is the archetypal Nushku

Also as an Herald you have a special relationship with fire even if you are not a Nushku. So are you?

[] The Fire which Purifies
[] The Fire which Inspires
[] The Fire which Forges
[] The Fire which Goes Wild

Prologue: The Great Prophecy
The Great Prophecy

You shiver in anticipation as you accept the link, as do all of the participants. You know you are about to witness some of the most impressive display of Lore since the Creation. One hundred and eight Ninsun directly supported by seventy-two Belim, without even counting the Heralds such as yourself not specialized in the Lore of the Celestials, and assisted by perhaps a thousand other angels of different qualities. No obstacle could overcome so mighty a gathering. Your only regret is that there are no real powerhouses of your own House present. Lucifer or even Michael could have lend as much power to the ritual than all of you combined.

You see the seers take wing and float in the air, turning like planet in a solar system, but this pattern is one of time not space. In the center, Ahrimal and the twenty-two Major Arcana spin the quickest, ready to turn their gaze in the swirling path of the many futures. The others Heralds and you begin to concentrate to feed the Fates in energy, reinforcing their Evocation, burning away all imperfections.

It begins without warning, as you are all plunged into darkness. The black hungry mist that surrounds you is full of screams and grunts, as if someone was battling. The taste of blood is fresh on your tongue and you see glimpses of great fires and bloody ruins. Something has been broken, something has been destroyed, never to be returned to the world. You don't understand, what is this darkness? A ploy from the enemy that seems to ravage Assiah? An illusion? You grit your teeth as the seers gather their power.

The vision gets clearer but not by much, your mind linked to your peers, you understand the variables are simply too numerous to create a prediction. The doom you perceive could come from thousands of directions, as if the sin of one, of anyone, could wreck the world. Pain fill your body and wracks your limbs, you see war and recognize some of your enemies. Creatures of shadows, ape-like bloodthirsty monsters, servants of those who came before.

Is this the answer? Will the Elder Ones bring the end of the world that rose in place of their dreams? That seems almost too easy. You have no time to ponder as you sense in the present His presence drawing near.

You feel the massive influx of power passing through you on his way to the seers. Around you the darkness colors itself in pink, violet and orange. At the behest of Lucifer, light comes and you see clearly the consequences if not the causes.

Cities will be raised by humankind touching to the very gates of heaven. Cities will be razed and corpses will litter the streets.

The gateway to the Maker's audience chambers in Atziluth will be barred from the inside, angelic remains standing silent watch over these condemned gates.

The Elder Ones and their children will rise, high as the night breaking the egg of creation to seed their own worlds. Sea will march against the flame, the heavens will be twisted, dragons will come from beyond the world, and all shadow will whisper and plot the demise of everything.

Blood runs hot, wrath clouds the minds, War is coming! The Spring of the World is ending and winter, endless winter will follow!

Lucifer's words ring around the room:

"What we have seen is beyond belief and humanity is at the center of it. I listened to your arguments while coming here and here is the position of Lucifer the Lightbringer Prince of All Angels. We were commanded to love humanity above all things and we would suffer them to live under the heel of the Elders Ones? We were crafted to build creation and we would refuse to watch over the domain entrusted to us. Our duties are to love and protect. I choose to keep them even if that means breaking others commands."

And before anyone has the time for an answer:

"Those of you who agree, come with me. We will be in Assiah when the sun sets."

Will you follow him?

The Birth of the Shedim
The Birth of the Shedim

You shiver as you stand besides your loyal brothers and sisters in what's was once the Garden where humanity ran. You understand the gravity of the sin committed by the Fallen. A sin further compounded by their refusal to submit to judgement and annihilation. It is just that seeing the face of Michael, now Seraph of the First House and Metatron, fills you with unchecked dread. Suffering gnaws at this face and you are sure you see tears of scarlet light running down his cheeks as his grasp tightens on his burning sword.

What could be worse than judging your colleagues? What decrees God has issued for his agent to look so pained? You will know it soon enough. The last of the faithful humans, a quarter of their number and the two repentant fallen have retreated under your wings. Michael looks at the heavens and shudders as your Lady takes control of her now foremost servant and pass judgement. Michael's voice, twisted with God own tone, echoes through the streets the humans erected in one's night, heard even by those hidden amidst the wonders they crafted.

"Obdurate in heresy and insurgency, know you were condemned by you own words and punished by your own hands. Now the pride of each of you shall be crushed by keen torment. From the highest Cherub to the lowest Angel, from the House of Rising Dawn to the House of Falling Night, all with suffer without exception! Your joy will turn to ashes in your mouths and your dreams into nightmares. I call you all the Shedim and casts you out of My sight and love."

"Rebels of the Second World! Your punishment is a new responsibility, for now your realm will grow unchecked. Since you gambled on the universe, I call you Halaku the Slayers and share with you this curse. Fields will now burn before the harvest and animals will die before they bear young. The war that comes will reap a harvest of needless death and your toil will be without rest. By your uprising, you have opened your realm to mankind and you will reap those who you love."

"Rebels of the House of the Wild! Since you choose to alter the course of nature rather than trusting it, I hereby take from you your kingdom. Your servants and creations will run without control and multiply without care, outstripping your authority. I name you Rabisu the Devourers and you will live to see beasts' teeth strip flesh from human bones. Man is no longer the first of the creatures of the earth and animals will run from him or attack him in hunger.

"Rebels of the House of the Deep! You tried to direct the flow by stretching humanity's mind. You wished to see them encompass a multitude of possibilities so it will be. Your wish is granted and their knowledge will grow beyond your imagination and your tolerance. Their minds will grow until their inner worlds eclipse the outer and each stands alone as an island in the sea of her thoughts. I name you Lammasu, the Defilers and condemn you to watch the leaf of truth be lost in the forests of lies.

Rebels of the House of Fate! You gazed too much into the future and ignored the present and so shall mankind. As you taught them they will look to the future, and they will ignore both past and present. You sought to show them all they could do but they will be overwhelmed by all they left undone. I name you Neberu the Fiends and that is your crime: You have robbed humanity of contentment and condemned it to greed and envy.

Rebels of the House of Fundament! You sought to master the world rather than to be content and for that you are cursed. While you sought to give Man dominion over matter, know his reach will forever exceed his grasp. Seeking more and more power he will unleash more devastation than unchecked nature ever could. I name you Annunaki the Malefactors and tell you that the tools you put into the hands of man will rise against him and consume him.

Rebel of the House of the Firmament! You sinned out of love and by love you will be punished. All men shall die. Even those who escape violence and mischance shall be brought to the Slayers' scythes in the end. Age and malady are now their lot as yours is to watch them wither on the vine until the strongest grows weak and the wisest grow feeble. I name you Asharu, the Scourges and curse you with the knowledge you drove your charges to this.

Rebels of the House of Dawn, proud followers of the traitor Lucifer. I name you Narmaru, the Devils"

Choice of a Choir

A new war calls for new organization and the system of Houses is ill-suited to it. So Michael decided to reform the Host in Five Choirs. They are

Focus: Ressearch
[] The Choir of Geburah
The Fallen refused divine mercy and marked themselves as ennemy to be anhilated. This is sad but now a fact of the universe. While it is unthinkable to shed angelic blood, you will be charged to capture Shedim and turn them to the containement facilities of the Choir of Binah

Focus: War Against the Fallen
[] The Choir of Daath
Some things are now freed that should have stayed in their prisons of rock and dreams. Your task is to fight the Titans by any means necessary and to trap them once more. You shall be charged with eradicating their influence, smashing their cults and assure no Prodigals serve the Void

[] The Choir of Chesed
Humanity is the key to Creation's future and thus only the Host must be able to control it. The Hunt Begins
The Hunt Begins.
You dodge the mace blow aimed to your head. Instictively you draw on Fire letting a steady burst of flame strike your opponent. the ape-thing moan in what could be pleasure before your power char it black. Around you your companions still battle: Olorin of the Fourth try to influence probablity to your advantage and you know it's working when you see two Bisclaveret die instantly, reality imposing itself to their alien biology. Nearby Allatar and Pallando strike your prey with abandon, creating spears of pure light and knives of ice from the very air. Curunir is with them burying the ambushers with burning boulder or transmuting them to metal. You sigh. The fervor of the Primordials' servants is not conductive to good sample harvesting. At this pace you'll need live specimen to study rather than mangled corpses.

Fortunately there's always more Asuras coming from the cracks in the earth that were one of the prisons you built in the fabric of the world. The Choir of Daath will let you take all samples you need before trying to reseal the place. Apparently your foes managed to evolve during their long exile and new tactics and new weapons will have to be devised. While the chaff you are fighting is of no consequence, new creatures have been sighted and some Angels had to retreat when a Second Circle came join the fray.

At last a silouhette emerges from the cracks, alike and different from your prey. It looks like an ape but stands three meters tall at least. Its skin is not red but green corroded bronze. You see a stray spear of light burning its way through its flesh before the skin reknits like nothing. He is wreathed in green hateful fire and on his brow is a mark of blasphemy. Smaller creatures come soon near it, escorting him to the fight as you move to intercept, signaling your brethren your true prey is there.

What will you do?

[] Power: Try to destroy its followers with the Lore of the Flame then try to see if it can regenerate charred wounds.
[] Finesse: Blind the whole lot with the Lore of Light then ensnare them into illusion to herd them towards the hunting party
[] Resistance: Gird yourself with the Lore of the Forge then distract your opponent while using the Lore of the Celestials to strenghten your comrades Evocations

Finesse try to blind them with the Lore of Light
Finesse try to blind them with the Lore of Light
You concentrate on the power of the universe, letting the light you created flowing through you before releasing it in intricate weaving of blinding illllusions. Unfortunately the creatures you fight seem not burdened by the light or the illusions and charge you instead as if they were not there. Luckily for you the rest of the hunting party has the time to arrive on the scene but not before the Asuras are joined by others, black wolf-things with praying mantis-like claws

You are six angels against eighteen Asuras, the powerful chieftain included. Things could be worse but they could also be better.

What do you do?

[] Try to flee
[] Power: No time for subltety and you are in danger. Use the power of the Lore of Flame to create an inferno
[] Finesse: It's a dangerous gambit but you could use the Lore of the Forge to try to infuse the surroundings with hatred to your foes
[] Resistance: Remain in the back using the Lore of the Celestial to strenghten your colleagues

[] Write-in

Your team include

Curunir Angel of the House of the Fundamentj Visage of Forge, Lore of Earth, Lore of Paths
Olorin Angel of the House of the Fates , Visage of Patterns, Lore of the Celestials, Lore of Light
Radagast Angel of the House of the Wyld: Visage of the Wild, Lore of the Beasts, Lore of Spirit
