…I understand…oh lemme read the update!

I suppose that roll is fitting. It was always a question of if we had the faith to try…
Does anyone know what a Shiplord making a smug face would look like? I think we're about to find out.

It's fair enough Snowfire, given that we're obviously going to have a clear direction and set of priorities (aside from fixing Mary's soul).

No objections here.

Amanda: Guys, everyone to the meeting room in an hour.
Mary: Seems a bit short notice. Is everything alright?
Amanda: ...New information regarding our ultimate goals has come to light-
Iris: We made a new friend today!
Mary: ...Of course you did.

A funny outline derailed only by how rather irate Vega and Kalilah are going to be at Amanda and Lea when they bust into the lab in...about a minute.

Also, I forgot about an addition to the containment roll. The laboratory itself had shields that helped with containment, as part of its emission controls.

I'd suggest considering the implications of that for a moment.

The implications of the Consolat lab's shields being set up to contain emissions from a Miracle?

Naaaah, nothing I can think of really.
Really emissions from Soul-science. It containing Miracle emissions is just because those are also soul science!

But yeah that does fit with what we know they were doing. I imagine this place included researching the secrets before they existed (as would be necessary as part of building control infrastructure for the Secrets!, which would be soul science, and would be setup to contain that.

Truly we are reaching levels of Day after Day never thought possible. The dice do not disappoint.

Thanks for the update, Boss. As for the abrupt curtailing of the rest of the turn? It seems reasonable but I'm not a plan maker so...

Why would a Shiplord be making a smug face?
I'm just imagining one of the anti-war on humanity Shiplords learning of Animus and just being like "And that's why War is a bad idea! They restored the Animus we don't have to rule the Galaxy to Safeguard the Secrets anymore!"
Meanwhile the Authority guys who did want war I imagined to be too lost in emotion to respond…
Though really that's probably just about every Shiplord's reaction when Animus debuts.

Ah, I see. That's a fair assessment of likely reactions, yes.

Yeah, I don't think any Shiplord can really do anything but stare in silent awe as the last child of the Consolat is revealed after all this time. Humans finally having done what those prior had failed to do and completed the last note of the song. And that's before they even start to really take in just what Animus is beyond the last-born creation of the Consolat, as the primary control interface for the Secrets themselves.

It should be noted that Animus is, at present, incapable of controlling the Secrets in any way. Their telaxion connection isn't connecting to anything. So you'll probably want to fix that before making any grand declarations.

Also like so long as we do all the actions we voted for regarding Mary the rest of the turn can wait for latter.
The Mary actions both required Amanda, who went off to help Iris with the Animus Delving action whilst Vega and Mir prepped everything. Hence, locked but not complete. You're missing the Mender component neded for that action.

I want to stress, by the way, that "Telaxion" is an awful name.

It's also a perfectly sensible one. It's the best translation I can think of for what the Consolat called it. It's just that their naming sense was awful, and if the name had been correct then the telaxion itself could not exist. Hence, awful name. Bad Consolat. No cookie.

Well of course, though the fact it would start explaining that was its purpose (and did so to Amanda immediately as well) would definitely help even now! But yes, let's get this actually fixed. It's poor manners to leave a job half complete.

It would be tele-axion, I suppose.

For "tele-" as in "far"

and "axion" as in a proposed component of cold dark matter that I would need to read up on more? A quick glance says no charge, no spin, small mass, so my distant memories of astrophysics suggest this is on the WIMP side of the spectrum of proposed dark matter substances?

And if it's supposed to be a "dark matter transceiver", then is the reason it wouldn't make sense be that a transceiver for dark matter comprised of particles that are minimally interactive wouldn't make much sense, and presumably wouldn't have the soul-science connections that are supposed to be in play in this story?

*ding ding ding*

Almost precisely the way I described the etymology of the term when I suggested it to Snowfire in the first place!

(@Snowfire I believe you owe some bonus points?)

And Baughn is right; given that axions are kind of unlikely to be the right answer to dark matter, it could possibly be a jargon term that stuck even if the original etymology had been disproved.
